Martin, taking photos during a hill climb, 20 years after being diagnosed.

Martin Mytholmroyd has bravely battled against multiple sclerosis for most of his adult life. By 1954 Martin was experiencing attacks of MS and in 1974 the specialist offered 'to fit callipers until his wheelchair came through'.

A few weeks later upon hearing that Martin was going to try and get better, a local secretary of the MS Society, forbade him to try a diet or attempt any cures.
Yet, by 1975, Martin was sprinting, playing league cricket and tennis, climbing Snowden and building his house.

Since then he has cycled to London to raise funds for research and brought up his two children on his own.

It is now 1998 and he is still waiting to hear from that Secretary!!

For many years now Martin has been a member of York Writers Martin was also a comedy scriptwriter in the Goon Show era of the sixties, writing for stage productions and has done a bit of broad casting as well.

Dangerously Healthy is a autobiographical novel, the stories concerning his Multiple Sclerosis are 100% true except some of the characters and places have been fictionalised.
