I've pasted quotes from two clinical studies I found after a quick search on Google:

It appears that Listerine does HELP kill or control candida, but doesn't fully nuke it like it kills bacteria. (Bacteria can be tough, but fungi are even tougher.) I'd guess that the mouthwash would first kill off much candida, and by the time the possibility of oral candida CONSUMING the alcohol comes about (candida albicans consumes sugars, simple carbohydrates and fermented alcohol), the mouthwash has essentially been discharged/diluted from the mouth. There's an herbal option as well. One treatment for oral candida involves adding to 1 cup warm water 50 drops of fluid extract (same as 2 ml or 1/2 teaspoon) of an antifungal herb such as berberine/goldenseal, thyme, myrrh, black walnut, or tea tree oil (5-10 drops per cup water for tea tree oil) and gargle thoroughly.
