PLEASE READ!!! I had the Mirena inserted in August of 2002. Had I known the complications, I wouldn't have done it either!!! I did not have the complications as severe as others are talking about, but when going to get it removed yesterday (Nov. 24 2006) I found out it was stuck- and was extremely painful in the process. This was at the clinical visit. I had to go to the hospital, be put under, and have it removed. The only problem was that the string came out, but nothing else. Now I had to have a CAT scan to see what was wrong, only to find out it had not only embedded itself, but that it had grown THROUGH the top of my uterus. Now I have to have yet another procedure to have it surgically removed. This will end up costing me approx. $2000 to $5000 when all is said and done. There is no way the DR. would have been able to tell at my yearly visits what was going on, because I didn't have any other "out of this world" symptoms. If there is a class action suit that will be started, please keep me in the loop! I don't want this to happen to anyone else!
