"NO!"to Nuclear Energy!
President Obama calls for 80% of America's electricity to come from clean energy sources by 2035. I wholeheartedly agree with this goal, but NUCLEAR ENERGY should NOT be part of this mix!!

There is still no viable solution to the accumulation of nuclear waste that takes thousands of years to degrade. Nuclear power is NOT "clean energy". I made this sign in response to President Obama's call for more nuclear power to meet our energy needs.
Excerpt from President Obama's State of the Union speech, January 25, 2011, regarding energy policy:
"...we’ve begun to reinvent our energy policy. We’re not just handing out money. We’re issuing a challenge. We’re telling America’s scientists and engineers that if they assemble teams of the best minds in their fields, and focus on the hardest problems in clean energy, we’ll fund the Apollo Projects of our time.
At the California Institute of Technology, they’re developing a way to turn sunlight and water into fuel for our cars. At Oak Ridge National Laboratory, they’re using supercomputers to get a lot more power out of our nuclear facilities. With more research and incentives, we can break our dependence on oil with biofuels, and become the first country to have 1 million electric vehicles on the road by 2015.
We need to get behind this innovation. And to help pay for it, I’m asking Congress to eliminate the billions in taxpayer dollars we currently give to oil companies. I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but they’re doing just fine on their own. So instead of subsidizing yesterday’s energy, let’s invest in tomorrow’s.
Now, clean energy breakthroughs will only translate into clean energy jobs if businesses know there will be a market for what they’re selling. So tonight, I challenge you to join me in setting a new goal: by 2035, 80% of America’s electricity will come from clean energy sources. Some folks want wind and solar. Others want nuclear, clean coal, and natural gas. To meet this goal, we will need them all – and I urge Democrats and Republicans to work together to make it happen."

Alternative Energy by 2050 Researchers state that by 2030, all new energy generation could come from wind, water and solar, and by 2050, all pre-existing energy production could be converted as well. "It is a question of whether we have the societal and political will."
EMAIL to Obama:NO NUCLEAR POWER! I just wrote an email to President Obama regarding his call for more nuclear power in order to meet our country's energy needs.

In 2008, I wrote a letter regarding my views on alternative energy, climate change, and oil dependence, summarized from Co-Op America's article "Ten Strikes Against Nuclear Power". In light of the current admininstration's push for more nuclear energy, I'm going to send this same letter again.

BioEnergy Domes use aquatic PLANTS to create energy, completely independent of the energy grid. Co2 is captured and fed back to the plants, as is waste water, creating a "truly sustainable energy" system.
