A HOLIDAY MESSAGE FROM DOUGLAS

Whatever your beliefs or customs, this time of year ­ the Holiday Season - is supposed to be a time for family get-togethers, a time of joy, and a time of celebration. For many, it is. But for others, it is a time of dread and depression.

For those who find themselves in need or want, let me assure you that ALL your needs will be met. Although you may feel otherwise, you can enjoy the abundance of God Almighty's all-encompassing and unconditional love. The only thing you have to do is to ask sincerely in prayer.

No one stands between you and God Almighty. NO ONE.

Of course, asking for something means you expect to receive something. Fully expect your prayer to be realized. Do not allow thoughts of 'I hope it will happen' to creep into your mind, for doubt negates the prayer.

Secondly, in order to receive the love, happiness, joy and sense of purpose and fulfillment in your life, you must next do something to make it happen. You must go after it, seek it, claim it, and take it. If you want more affection, be more affectionate. If you want more love in your life, be more loving to others (and it wouldn't hurt to be more loving to yourself as well). All you have to do is to give what you want to receive. It is a simple spiritual principle.

Cling to your friends who you love dearly.

There are only two requirements to maintain this closeness, this friendship, or this love with your friends, family and loved ones. The first is tolerance and the second is forgetfulness. Why forgetfulness? You might call it forgiveness. Overlook the inadequacies in your friends, and do so with yourself. Each of us has aspects within that we are not proud of. Learn to overcome these weaknesses, but realize that you are still learning. Don't be too hard on yourself for making mistakes, for making mistakes demonstrates your willingness to learn. As you ease up on yourself, ease up on your friends as well.

If you find yourself alone reach out for like attracts like. Surely at this time of year there are many of your spiritual brothers and sisters who would find joy at meeting up with you again, even if they have not known you in this lifetime. Reach out my friend, and reach your goal.

Love means to be loving. With self-respect and a healthy demand for courtesy and simple respect to yourself (and to others) you can do no wrong. Love each other as you would love yourself.

To me, this is the meaning of Christmas. From humble beginnings came hope for the whole world.
