The Passionate Goddess by greggechols .....

Our society has created a model for psychological health that is based on a rather limited scope and framework. Imagine if this model was based on a more planetary-inclusive ideal of existence. Then we might be a healthy society!

Our Western world has been created based on our relationship with our fellow man.  What has happened to our relationship with the rest of the planet in the process?  Take, for instance, our societal criteria for being a “normal” individual, a “normal” citizen.  Note how our determinants our often based on a medical model:  such as our psychological tests and standards, which have been based on our relationship with society.

What if the standardized model for “sanity”—the psychological profile known as the DSM-IV—was created based on our relationship with all beings?  How would a standard psychological profile look if it were based on how we related with the trees, the water, the fire—the elements, plus the four-Leggeds, the birds—the home in which we lived, our car?  What if our society’s criteria for psychological health were based on these more expansive relations?  It would be a different world, no?

Imagine for a moment your very sanity being judged on how you related to the ancient wisdom spoken to you by nature—through the trees, the plants, the wind, the moon—what if your relationship to these aspects of your life determined your psychological and spiritual health?  Would our world be a different place?

It is as though we have become too limited in our relationship with life.  It is not limited to our relationship with other humans.  It is not only about people “fitting in” to society.  How do you fit in with nature, with the Spirits?  How do you relate with the ancestors?  Are you in balance in this way?

I wonder if the spiritual realms offer individuals in societies such as ours the opportunity to “realign” themselves.  What if the planet and the spiritual realm offered individuals a “crash course” in re-learning everything society has taught them—especially our “Western” model of living—so that we can become realigned with the world around us?

I am sure such a process would allow our deeper truths to come forward, which would, quite possibly, lead us to realize we are so much more than we’ve ever imagined.  I am sure such a process would lead us into a way of being that is beyond words; one that is beyond feeling.  I imagine it would lead us into a way of life that is simply the joy and abundance of the Universe itself.  Quite possibly, then, I would realize that I am, indeed, a replica of the Universe—an exact replica of the Godhead, the Goddess, the Creative Energies.  To realize this as a fact would be an amazing realization, indeed.

I’m sure if this realization was to come full circle, I might also realize how important my own creative powers were—I might realize that the creation coming through my passion would carry a life of its own.  I might see that these passions contain the blessings of the Universe, which, quite possibly, is the most potent power of all.  I might see my own power and wisdom shining forth, and might even experience the possibility that passion is what created the Universe in the first place.  Imagine me using that energy to create my life!  That is the ultimate.  It is as though living my life through my passion would be the equivalent of living my life with the ultimate firepower of the Universe blasting through me every movement.
