Description

Yoga Today
Judy Graham's book should be essential reading for all with MS and for the families and friends of those suffering. It is up-beat without being facile and it surveys the field simply and intelligently. The clear way in which Ms. Graham tackles the contentious issue of diet is extremely welcome.

From The WomanSource Catalog & Review: Tools for Connecting the Community for Women; review by PCP
Judy Graham has been diagnosed with MS for 20 years, and has lived with the disease longer. One of the founders of the Multiple Sclerosis Action Group, later known as ARMS (Action for Research into Multiple Sclerosis), Judy's vast knowledge of MS includes theories about the causes and nature of MS, new methods of treatment, promising areas of research, helpful therapies and advice on daily living. She believes that there are many ways to manage MS and to attain a high degree of health through changes in diet, diet supplements, exercise and various alternative and holistic treatments. Among the issues she discusses are the role of mercury in dental fillings, environmental contamination and allergies, all of which are implicated in causing or aggravating MS. A wonderfully useful book with the added bonus of sharp commentary on the medical community's failure to meaningfully diagnose or treat MS.

Because Doctors Won't or Can't Tell You Everything, February 10, 2003
Reviewer: William Weil (Pittsburgh, PA United States) - See all my reviews
This highly readable, well-organized book covers the essential alternative approaches for those dealing with relapsing-remitting MS. It focuses on the best accepted research studies and wellness management (as opposed to symptom management). For example, there is a lot on diet, with great explanations of why it works, but nothing on bee venom therapy (which only temporarily can address symptoms). It's so well written, you can get the essence of the whole thing in a less than an hour, and then drill into the parts as appropriate.

I have had MS for eight years. I found this book extremely informative. The author discusses information that I have not found anywhere else. Her approach to disease management through vitamin and mineral suppliments as well as the importance of identifying food allergies has given me renewed hope. I highly recommend this book!

This should be required reading for all people with MS. It shows you things that have been proven to help, that let you start to take back some control over your disease.
Some of the information is a bit "heady". The scientific data is sometimes hard to read. But the best part about a book is that you can read it as many times as you need to make sense. She explains these scientific tidbits very well.

Excellent reading.

Judy Graham's book literally changed my life and how I "manage" my MS. She gives specific suggestions and a whole menu of choices of ways to control your condition. As I read it, I kept thinking, "I can actually do this..." And I have and it works for me.

This book offers a comprehensive, holisitic explanation of what is happening to us as we develop the symptons of this disease. It gave me a lot of hope and five years after reading it I have had no additional problems. Anyone with MS is not doing themselves justice if they do not read this book!!

Every newly diagnosed MS sufferer MUST read this book., October 10, 1998

This book was my life line when I was first diagnosed with MS. I read it from cover to cover so many times that it practically dropped to bits and whenever I hear of another newly diagnosed MS sufferer I loan it out. It gave me hope when I had none.
