I am an O nonsecretor.
It has been suggested to me to try apple cider vinegar for benefits to increase the acidity in my stomach first thing in the morning. I did it today with no negative side effects, so far. I am also on a candida cleanse and the only fruits allowed are granny smith apples, cranberries, and lemons.
What has been anyone's experience with apple cider vinegar and apples in general for nonsecretor Os?
I don't understand why a Candida diet would include Granny Smith apples... generally one avoids all forms of sugar and fruit and vinegar on a candida diet. ... ?
Maybe, they should be gone too. :( But, if it means that the cravings will stop, I am all down with killing these guys off. My cravings are getting less. I have found that I had to get rid of the artificial stuff too (other than Stevia currently). Big dif after this. But still some symptoms, so.....
I want to do a parasites cleanes next..... so it will be this diet for awhile :(
The apple cider vinegar (ACV) is a major antifungal and it restores your pH to it's proper level. The reason you need this is because Candida thrives in an acidic environment and you need to alkalize your system. Fresh fruits and veggies are the easiest way to maintain an alkaline system. Things that cause an acidic system are red meat, refined sugars, starches such as flours and those types of carbohydrates.
the ACV will help to bring your acid levels down as well as work as an antifungal to fight the Candida curse.
The pectin in the skin of a GS apple is extremely good for you during this time. Fruit sugars are not as much worried about in CAndida as the more refined sugars are, but that does not mean that youcan eat fruit all day and get rid of candida. One apple a day won't hurt you, but too much fruit with high fructose content will make it take a lot longer fo ryou to get better.
Also, many people think that lemons are too acidic for the candida diet, but the acid turns alkaline in your system.
Try some oil of oregano, grapeseed extract, and a big dose of wheat grass every day. You should see things improving very quickly this way!
It took me 8-9 months to finally be normal again. I feel great!and I am a type O too!
I agree with this. An occassional GS apple is a lot better for you than, say, a bar of chocolate, or a few biscuits. I also take apple cider vinegar. I know its considered an avoid on this diet, but I think it does ME enough good to be included in my diet, and by eating less avoids overall (and more beneficials), my diet is a healthy one.

I was quite unusual (apparently) for O blood type, as I was very anaemic. I think this was mainly down to low stomach acid, which the ACV is helping to correct. (I am O Neg).
Not to be gross, but did you ever get some sour feelings in your tummy or have a sour belch? I think that I have too acidic of a tummy. But maybe not??? I crave sour, and vineger related stuff, so I wonder if I do need more stomach acid???
I am anemic too. I did the blackstrapp molasses for a while and it helped. But I also am 100% raw, (other than ACV and molasses) amd my body won't tolerate the molasses right now.
Hi, I'm aware of low stomach acid basically because of the low iron issue, and because I don't digest things properly. Tablets (and other things) come out whole, or just partly digested, and I have inflammation of the small intestines, which can be caused by low stomach acid. I don't often belch, it tends to come out the other end! I think my problems stem from old habits (an eating disorder), which is now history, but has left a few health problems left for me to deal with.

Yes!
My food for the longest time was coming out partially digested too - still is sometimes. Hmmmmmmm, and I struggled with a bit of an eating disorder for awhile too. How is it that you have been able to find some peace? (if you don't mind).
So, you used to get a great deal of gas (flatulence) - that is a symptom too. I have found that my stomach is real sensitive, and I have to be real careful what I eat and when, and how much, or I get constipated, the reverse, or lots of gas.
I don't tend to get a lot of gas (luckily) my husband produces enough for both of us! Things just go through me very quickly. I got over the ED by learning as much as I could I suppose about the body, food, nutrition etc. Also, I got very ill, and realised that if I didn't start to look after myself, it might be too late. Coming to the conclusion that you're incharge of your own health is a big eye opener. I could either help myself, or have to go down the route of drugs and operations maybe for the rest of my (very shortened) life. I didn't have much choice really. I had an ED for a long time, and the bad effects were mounting up. I was fed up of feeling so ill, and the positives were minimal. I suppose I just grew up, but it wasn't always easy. How about you?
Yep, me too. Things were always going through me very fast. I hear you. I betcha that's from not digesting things properly.
RE: ED. Quite honestly, it's a daily struggle. I have always just had fringe symptoms, if you know what I mean, I have never been diagnosed. But, I really have trouble listening to my inner signals about what to eat, how much, and when. It's weird. Take care and thanks again :) I think I am going to go on the ED forum. Probably would help.
Thanks for pointing that out. I'd always thought it was an Avoid for all 'O's, looks like I've not been keeping up to date! I suppose next thing is to get my secretor status checked.
