This could be useful to some. This list is taken from the top 200 most commonly prescribed drugs; I scanned their structures for sneaky halogens. It includes active ingredient only, so for example all metered dose inhalers and nasal sprays will contain fluoride in the propellant, but I didn't list all the drugs that come in those forms. Also didn't put any OTC meds on the list.
Growing up, my wife received a lot of medications for different things, especially antibiotics. Taking cipro for a nasty ear infection pushed her over the edge into CFS and Fibromyalgia.
I, on the other hand, somehow got by in my formative years not having to take so much. Guess who has better health? Being under the care of an iridologist in my mid-twenties rid me of the worst of my allergies and put me on track to the point where I shrug off or only take glancing blows of flus and things that the kids bring home from school. I'm beginning to think Iodine is the last missing piece for me.
Meanwhile, the guy in the cube across from me was out today for the second time in three months for a really nasty cold. I tried to turn him on to iodine, but he politely refused. I guess in our society a doctor's recommendation still trumps advice from a guy who's only had 1 cold in five years. That's never going to change until people, like my wife, get sick of some of the crap doctors have foisted on people over the years. The stuff I found here have helped relieved her migraines more than the nasty crap the doctors push.
That is really sad and disturbing.
I dont see zoloft on the list, but I took it for years and it damaged my body very much. I wonder whats in it.
Ive also taken some other things on that list. Flonase for one. It makes me cringe now.
Like I said, very sad and disturbing that we cannot trust our own docs not to poison us.
This is why I dont visit doctors. I take my chances on my own.
I took accutane (speaking of acne) when I was in my teens. I had some psychological issues before it, but I got SERIOUSLY suicidal around the time I started taking it.
My dad was very much against it, and my mom forced it to happen.
I'm glad I quit taking it. All of the news that's come out about how awful it is for you is not surprising to me.
As far as Zoloft/sertraline, the only halogen it contains is chloride.
Not that it is a safe drug by any means, which you unfortunately had to find out the hard way. Drugs that get into the CNS tend to have terrible side effects, and their residues are very hard to get back out again.
Good to know it doesnt contain the other halogens. God..I cant imagine what kind of Iodine detox id be having if it did..I was on the stuff for so long. But yes..I still sometimes dont feel like its all out, and Ive been off it since age 18. The initial detox when I stopped it cold turkey was by far the worst pain Ive ever been through in my entire life. Including this horrific infection on my face Im battling now. During zoloft withdrawls, I truly, without a doubt in my mind thought I WAS going to die.
i had four different allergic reactions to four different ssri's. god knows what would hove happened if i had stuck with one for any length of time. after the last one blew up in my face, i looked my doctor in the eye and said, "maybe seratonin aint my problem." he retorted, "let me know when you want to try another one."
i feel so bad for anyone who got conned into being on one of those drugs. getting off of them is painful and dangerous.
