A friend emailed me recently asking me for information
about body brushing. I had gifted her a book on how
to body-brush, and a really nice body brush. It made
me feel good that she was still doing it, now years
later, and that she felt it had really impacted her life
in a positive way.
For those who have not tried this yet, it is a great
way to move the lymph that collects in the little
bean-size lymph nodes right under your skin. Dry
brushing manually operates the pump that keeps the
lymph moving. Massage is another great way but is
not as easy to do on yourself as skin brushing.
Here is some beginners info on brushing~~

How To Do Skin Brushing:
1. Buy a NATURAL, NOT synthetic, bristle brush, since it does NOT SCRATCH the surface of your skin.
2. Buy a brush with a LONG handle, so that you're ABLE to get to the areas of your body, that are NOT EASY to reach, when doing your own Skin Brushing.
3. Skin Brush, before showering or bathing, at least ONCE per day, and TWICE, if possible.
4. Do NOT wet your skin, since it will NOT have the SAME Effect, because this stretches your skin.
5. Do LIGHTER Strokes over and around your breasts, but do NOT brush the nipples.
6. Brush each part of your Body several times VIGOROUSLY, COMPLETELY brushing your WHOLE body.
7. Brush the soles of your feet FIRST, because the nerve endings there affect your WHOLE body, next Brush your ankles, calves, and thighs, then brush across your stomach and your buttocks and lastly brush your hands to your arms.
8. ALWAYS skin brush towards the heart.
9. Do circular counter-clockwise strokes on your abdomen.

Yes, Tampico is my favorite brand personally. It is
a cactus bristle brush. I also have other brushes in
my collection that are natural bristles that I have
found over the years. My criteria is if it feels
good. Often you start out with a softer brush and
now I can handle a stiffer one easily.
The brush I bought for my friend was an Elemis.
They are more costly but she was someone who used
Elemis products and this was a gift. It is the same
bristle like a Tampico, but with a more famous brand
name on it. I also have a Body Shop cactus bristle
brush which I like but the handle does not detach.

I recommend skin-brushing before a shower or
bath, or first thing in the morning. Sometimes
I get busy and my schedule falls apart but
then I always come back to it so do not beat
yourself up if you do not do it everyday.
You will do fine though as it is self-reinforcing
since it FEELS GOOD. You do not have to do a
full body brush each time either. Mostly make
it fun for yourself and imagine doing it for
the rest of your life. I have been doing it
for so many years I forget how long ago I
fell in love with body-brushing.
