Hi, okay I know I should be eating about 80 % raw diet & I confess I am not. I don't cook. I eat out alot like Boston Market or go or Sweet Tomatoes. I do have some vegs but not enough.
What snacks can I safely consume on this diet? Anything packaged????
I have cut out wheat & gluten at advice of ND. But these darn healthy snacks have starch or sugar.
Is it possible to get better even with small amounts of sugar? I know it sounds silly but sometimes I just have to have a snack other than Celery . Even brown rice cakes are stressing me out cause of the carb content.
Some of the crackers have brown rice (ND says it's ok), tamari (soy sauce) & are wheat/gluten free but are high carbs.
I think I am still overdoing it with the carbs/sugar.
I'm so hungry. I'm getting ready to go shopping again & don't know what to get.
Also, I can recommend using stevia as a
sweetener. You can even make some whipped
cream and add stevia and add some carob for
a safe dessert. There are lots of options you
just need to be a little more creative~!
blessings,
Zoe
If you are able to handle them, you might want to go to your local health food store and buy things like pumpkin seeds in bulk as they are usually no or low sugar, and low carb. If you add some Sea Salt to them, they're quite tasty.
Boiled eggs; carrot sticks; nuts/seeds if you aren't allergic; granny smith apples; you can make a dip out of avocado and dip veggies, brown rice crackers, or corn tortillas if you can tolerate them.
I would look into stevia. I make brown rice and add cinnamon and stevia, and then bake the cooked rice w/ granny smith apples and goat butter. It is carbs...yes...but if you have that for breakfast and then a salad for lunch, and veggies and chicken or fish for dinner w/ a few low carb snacks in between, like carrots or boiled eggs, your carb load for the day won't be too high. Brown rice w/ Sea Salt , black pepper, and mashed avocado mixed in is also very good. These two aren't snack options but I though I'd share them w/ you anyway. Lots of people on this board think brown rice is constipating, but it doesn't do that for me. You should also try cream of buckwheat. Add some cinnamon and stevia to it and it's a great breakfast.
I'm still unsure about carrots being okay for me right now, but I do miss them. I don't like eggs. Interesting what you said about brown rice since constipation is a huge problem for me.
OMG there is nothing to eat practically. Sorry had to vent.
Not sure if this information helps. It might be too early to post anything about it, but I'm trying something new in terms of diet. I'm on day six of a diet that consists primarily of very specific super high quality fats. 60% fat, 20% flesh and egg protein, 20% low carb veggies like broccoli and cabbage. All cooked. Except the extra virgin olive oil of course (high heat not being good for that oil). The Virgine Olive Oil "" href="/c/?/abbreviations.asp">EVOO gets added to food that's already been cooked. There's a homemade probiotic you take and suerkraut too. Very specicif supplements as well. Found out about this diet via a candida support group on yahoo.:
Not sure if it is appropriate to share about this here?
The reason I mention it is there's no snacking to speak of. The meals are substantial. Drinking the electrolite drinks between meals seems to get me through from one meal to the next pretty well (at least by day six). It's too early for me to say much except my constipation is gone and I'm bloating less. My MCS (multiple chemcial sensitivity) is still full blown, thrush is still lingering, but only just. From research have deduced I'm dealing with systemic candida like the people that post here on this forum. From all I've read so far, the protocol outlined on that site made the most sense. We all have unique systems and ways of thinking and doing, so it might be just a personal preference that I'm going just about Eskimo in terms of diet to see if it helps my immune system at all.
Maybe this helps. Will post again if it ends up being the ticket to better health that I'm hoping.
