I have just started doing coffee enemas. They seem to help a bit. My question is that I have a tremendous amount of trapped gas several hours after my enema. I do a cleansing enema with distilled water first then the coffee enema. Everything seems to come out. I also make sure there is no air in the tube and that it is no more than 2 feet high. I suffer from extreme dysbiosis and mercury toxicity. At this point I cannot tolerate probiotics. My doctor has me doing glutathione/mineral/vitamin c iv's, infrared saunas and coffee enemas. Does anyone have any idea why I have so much gas? I wouldn't even mind the gas as long as it was able to come out!! (I suffer from trapped gas to begin with but this is extreme). Its trapped and causes me much distress. Is it just a herxhimer reaction? I really hope so. I certainly would not want to make things worse. Thanks in advance.
My immediate reaction to your post was to change the solution of your cleansing enema. Use a saline solution (2 teaspoons of non-iodized salt per quart of water) instead of just plain distilled water.
After taking the coffee enema take another cleansing enema to clean out the coffee and toxin residues.
I am on a similar protocol following Dr. Sherry Roger’s book: Detoxify or die. I had the gas problem when I started but now 6 months later the gas problem has gone.
Hi Propaul,
Thanks for the advice. I just had a few questions.
What will the saline do to relieve the gas? Can I use any Sea Salt (is it not iodized unless it indicates it is?) Is it more harsh? I have a very sensitive digestive tract. Also will I retain more water? I read something about overload?
As well, I thought the toxins were removed with the coffee enema? Do I need another one to flush them out? (my doctor hasn't mentioned anything about this not even the cleansing enema!).
I'm glad to hear the you are feeling better on the protocol. Do you think doing this has helped the gas issue? Thanks so much for your help. I had a feeling you would answer! :)
Yes you should use sea salt if it is not iodized. A normal saline solution does not get absorbed by the body while plain water does. A saline enema is less irritating than a plain water enema. If sea salt is iodized it is usually mentioned on the label.
You did not mention the size of your coffee enema nor the length of the retention. If your coffee enema is say 2 cups and you retain it for 10 minutes then you will only expel a part of the toxins and therefore a post cleansing enema is necessary. As your system gets cleaner and cleaner you will eventually not have to take the pre and post cleansing enemas. I, at present, do not take either unless I feel toxic. By the way I had the same problem with gas and experimented until I got relief. I hope it works for you,
Most doctors will not mention either of these additional enemas and neither does Dr. Sherry Roger in her books on detoxifying. She does give info on additional supplements that I have found quite useful. I have not tried the infra red sauna but I am considering going for it.
Please read my blog titled My challenge, link below.
Thank you for all the information. I now understand why you took the pre and post enemas. I only have a chance to do them on Saturday's until I finish work in June (this is mainly because I can't deal with the gas/pain and go to work!) I'll then have 2 months to do them more often. Right now I do a cleansing enema of 4cups-1 quart, but I will change that to the saline enema you suggested. My coffee enema is also 4 cups-1quart and I retain it for 15 min. I find that with a little breathing at the beginning, I am able to retain it no problem. I will also do the post enema with saline. The instructions for the coffee enema are what I got from my doctor. Do you have any further suggestions? I'm glad to hear your gas went away and I hope mine does as well! BTW, my infrared sauna is quite good. I find I have more energy and am not as cold throughout the day. I am trying to sweat out my toxins/mercury as much as possible. Let me know if you'd like more info.
Thanks!
Sorry, one last thing. Will I lose the good bacteria by doing 3 enemas. Right now I am not able to tolerate any probiotics. As well, I noticed I turn quite orange the day after the enema and feel horrible. The next day after that I feel noticably clear headed. Ideas? A herx? Thanks!!!!
My “normal” coffee enema is 2 enemas of 2 cups. I take the first one then evacuate and then take the 2nd one. In both I retain the enema for 10 to 15 minutes. I found that this works better than taking one large enema. One important item is that I take the enema lying on my left side (Sims position) and retain it for 10 minutes. Then I turn and rest on my back with my butt slightly elevated for another few minutes. You need to keep the solution from going high in the colon. This type of coffee enema is absorbed best in the rectum and the sigmoid section of the colon.
How do you take your probiotics? Orally or rectally? I am surprised that you have problems taking them.
Since you take these enemas only once a week I don’t think that you will loose too many good bacteria to cause any problems. If you were doing this daily then there would be a need to replenish the good bacteria. By the way taking the two enemas I mentioned earlier only takes me between 30 to 45 minutes daily.
Daily I take 2000 mg of Vitamin C, 300 mg of lipoic acid, 400 mg glutathione, 400 units of vitamin E.
I have found big improvements in my health after 3 weeks of daily supplements and enemas. One sign was that my blood pressure dropped from 120 - 130 (systolic) down to 110 - 120, second my HDL (Cholesterol) increased while my LDL remained the same, third I feel better: more energy, more fun, less frustrated with life.
