i am exhausted. i got 5 hours sleep in 72 even before i got here. i must get the first part of this story told before it gets lost.
the first two days were a nightmare. i came the minute i got word that my friend bill was in trouble. the doctors were saying that he would not leave the hospital(alive). his daughter told me in her email that he had requested me and that it was bad. i knew that if he was asking for me, it must have been. bill is closer to me than a brother in many ways. it is interesting that i posted the song by the great bessie griffin that i did a few days earlier, because in many ways he is my mother and my father, my sister and my brother, my mentor and my best friend.
back to the first two days. i observed while the very best in modern medicine fumbled and bumbled their way in the dark. i have never seen a more ignorant and narrowminded profession in my life. robert o becker said it best in his classic work "the body electric" when he said, "medical biology is afflicted with a kind of tunnel vision." boy is it ever.
i watched as they tried to treat an illness that they knew had internal causes by using external mechanisms. the standard treatment for copd is to leave the patient to their own devices until they can no longer breathe on their own and then put them on a machine to breath for them. once this occurs, they may or may not ever get off the machines until they expire. apparently there are many in this country who are in facilities living on a respirator, a prison that i cannot imagine is preferable to death. my friend feels the same way.
once they got his gasses turned around, they took him off the inubator and onto a mask called a c-pap. this machine assists in the breathing and introduces higher than normal levels of oxygen at the same time. usually the idea is not so much oxygenating the blood, but the problem is the release of co2. as the co2 builds up in the blood, this creates an acidifying effect. as the pH goes lower, less and less co2 can be released. the acid pH effects the ease with which the gradient of oxygen can displace the co2. the patient snowballs and soon can no longer stop the rise of co2 in the blood which results in expiration. the person is chemically drowning.
the mechanical means by which they try to treat this is no different than sticking a plug in ones butt to stop diarrhea. sooner of later, something has to give.
i kept listening intently as the high paid and barely available doctor would come in and explain what was going on and never once offer a solution that would correct the problem, even when asked. the co2 rising, the diaphram muscle being exhausted and unable to work as hard, the lungs less elastic than before - all the while all of these things got worse. just let the machine do it.
bill is a patient man. he went with the flow and accepted his fate as things went along. however, he was not going to be confined to a machine with no way to communicate. as he tried to move away from this confinement, the doctor got more doom and gloom and began to talk of dying.
when i first got there, they got the tube out of him and put the mask on. no longer being fed by a tube into his stomach, he wanted to eat. i was aghast at the meal they sent him. it was death on four wheels. i watched him eat mashed potatoes and turkey and gravey and roll with 2% milk and a small salad. he seemed to be feeling better and the doctor was in general agreement with his quest to go home. she said he might not make it out of the hospital once he tried to move about. he did seem to get worse after his meal. i left that evening with him in good spirits and doing fairly well. the next morning he was in crises again.
the next day went the same way. the more he was on the c-pap, the better his gasses got and he was able to take the mask off and eat again that evening. again, it was the biggest acid forming meal i had ever seen, and again he went downhill through the night. the next morning everyone was summoned in and he was moved to a private room where as many as wanted could visit. his wife and he signed a DNR that morning just to get them to take him out of CCU. they were no longer drawing blood gasses. he was on his own. we were all told he would not make it through the day. medical science was more than willing to stand by and watch this man die without lifting a finger. well, i wasnt.
late yesterday i had discussed with bill what i saw based upon the information the doctor had given us. i systematically went throught he list of all the difficulties he was having and suggested a treatment for each. magnesium peroxide for his diaphram to relax the muscle to it could rest when not working and get oxygen closer to this starved muscle. cayenne to help normalize the blood. vitamin C for the high oxygen levels, both as an antioxidant and as a detoxifier of the lungs. iodine for its oxidizing effects where oxygen had not been able to get and as a mucolytic and antifungal. amazingly, iodine also works as an antioxidant as well and helps balance pH. oregano oil to help clear the lungs and address any parasites that may be present. and the air restore lobelia and mullien tincture from MH. he said to go ahead and get these things.
but this morning he was at deaths door according to his doctor and we all just rushed over. and got him moved into his private room to die. they only expect people to leave this area on a gurney to the morgue.
like a fool i did not bring anything with me. logistics has been tough but we managed to get out of there while they prepared to take him out of CCU. i rushed back to the house and got the air restore, the iodine, the oregano oil, and picked up a cheap ass 40Khu cayenne at the grocery store. a better selection would have to follow later.
when i got back he was in his new room. i told bill if we could turn this pH thing around we could get him out of the hospital and go to work on the rest and on to the healing stage which would include even more things to try. i gave him a capsule of the cayenne and a capsule with one drop of oregano oil in it. in some orange juice, i gave him four drops of wilsons iodine solution, four drops of magnascent iodine and two dropperfulls of air restore.
the turn around was almost immediate. he kept his mask off longer, gained strength and coordination, his voice got stronger, he was more animated, he laughed a lot, and some kind of cloudy yucky substance began to flow out of his urinary cathater. this was an added bonus for me to see. unfortunately the DNR arrangements meant there were no more blood gasses drawn for testing so i dont know what his co2 was doing. but i had a good guess.
you see, i had told him earlier that he had an infection. the doctor was saying there was no infection to fight and he was already being given prohylaxic antibiotics. i knew he had an infection. i figured it was candida or a mycoplasm or both, both of which were in his lungs.
then i told him there was no way he could eat that crap again and expect to live. we planned his evening meal and had it cooked at home by his son who brought it over. it was salad with olive oil and vinegar, whitefish and green beans. orange juice to drink. not perfect but not that other crap. at the meal, he recieved two cayenne, two drops of oregano oil, four more drops of iodine, two dropperfuls of magnascent and four dopperfulls of air restore.
by the time i left tonight he was still improving, still excreting a nasty cloud from his cathater, and having his oxygen levels adjusted down by a respiratory specialist. he is coming home tomorrow, lord willing, and i see nothing but improvement for him once we finish shopping at the health food store.
i fully intend to see this through and if he wants, i think he can be functioning at a level above what he was at even six months ago. he said he had about six more months of work on his book. i think he can have that and more if he wants.
i dont want to get too excited, but i did have one other interesting interchange with his doctor in passing. i asked her if she was surprised(as if i couldnt tell), and she said yes. you dont tell family to gather for a death from as far away as louisiana and have the patient walk out of the hospital the next day. it just aint possible. or is it?
its just the beginning, meaning it could still go either way. he has a raging candida(or other fungal) infection. plus the damage to his lungs. i have had to keep a low profile in the hospital for various reasons.
the respiratory therapist taking the readings and adjusting his oxygen down last night was a perfect example of a system all puffed up with itself. i have seen the exact same dynamic with social workers. they take credit for anthing good that happens and take no responsibility and/or blame someone else for anything that goes bad.
i asked him about the turnaround in bill before i left the hospital. he started handing me this line in his best bedside manner(the compassionate pre-emminant) about how the turnaround was due to the earlier adjustment of the c-pap machine - that the numbers were adjusted closer together. someone who was paying no attention at all or completely ignorant of what was happenning would have been duly impressed. what he didnt know(and i didnt let on) was that i had paid full attention to all aspects of their activities and his condition. not only did he not respond so positively to the adjustments before the supplements i gave him, his fabricated story was exactly the opposite of what happened. the adjustments made on the machine widened the gap in the numbers, not narrowed it. the high went from 18 to 20 and the low went from 10 to 7. imagined how freaked out they would be if they knew i was watching them that close. he was such a nice older man with a gray beard too. his momma would have beat his ass for lying like that!
"imagined how freaked out they would be if they knew i was watching them that close. he was such a nice older man with a gray beard too. his momma would have beat his ass for lying like that!"
Sad that, but unfortunately not surprising since nowadays it's much more about liability than it is about care. Suffice it to say it's roughly 100% likely that you're not the first person he had lied to..
First, congratulations on your friend. That's amazing. Equally amazing is that you held back from the doctor on the futility of the hospital's treatment.
One thing I'm curious about is understanding why you chose those specific things to give him. I'd really like to understand the purpose and intent for giving him those things, and also why you chose those forms of iodine of lugol's.
Anyways, really great to hear. He'll probably live another 20 years now!
he is not out of the woods yet, even when he makes it home today. my biggest concern is giving him too little too late. second is rapid detox - too much too soon. its a fine line with someone so compromised.
for example, once he had those 25 mg of potassium iodide in him and got confirmation that it was killing off a fungal type infection, then i had to worry about a strong herzheimer effect. i dont want him succumbing to his own poisons. OTOH, he needed to clear enough of the infection to restore some capacity to breathe. a very touchy situation, especially in the hospital. i didnt want them alerted to me or doing something that would hinder what i was doing. they were working against the situation enough as it was.
my choices were made based upon several criteria. first was that he could handle the impact of the substances without any undue stress. second, that they were forms that would not pose a problem in application. i didnt want the pills getting stuck in his throat so i had him take them one at a time and wet them down in his mouth till they were slimy before swallowing. there is nothing like having a cayenne capsule get stuck and open up in the tube. been there and it aint fun. he didnt need that kind of discomfort, which also may have alerted the staff. third, they had to be things which would not interfere or be interfered with what was already going on. i wanted foodstuffs or simple supplements via orthosupplementation.
my god, what i wouldnt have given to have free reign given the opportunity that was at hand. the doctors have him on an IV, of course, so once there it is the perfect opportunity to get stuff directly into the bloodstream and right to the site of the problem - the lungs. two things could have produced a literal miracle, like taking a dead man by the hand and pulling him up to a standing position and he start to dance.
first there was ascorbate. someone had already answered my plea for info before i left with a treatment which helped black lung victims. it was 500mg of sodium ascorbate IV every 2 hours. what a boost that would have been. after a dose or two of that, then the other thing would have been an IV with h2o2. the tried and true alkaseltzer effect of of that oxygen in the lungs would blast out those gasses from the place that the machines have the hardest time reaching - the very bottom of the lungs.
either one of those could have produced dramatic results, but together, with the combination of antioxidants and oxygen where you need it, it could be the one-two punch which could send multitudes on a machine in a facility back home to resume their lives for a time.
the reason i chose the wilsons iodine with its 2% elemental I2 and the majority content of KI was simply that it is what i have the most of and it is the most gentle. it is KI that has been used historically for lung infections with rousing success. plus, i did not want to add to his oxidative stress because i felt that he was already being harmed by too much oxygen to the brain. he is also on synthroid so i kept the dose low for now(about 60mg total) to keep from triggering the thyroid to stop its uptake. this is for now. i would like to give him a gram of KI a day, but that will have to be worked up to as a coup de gras for the infection.
as for the rest, the cayenne always helps in matters of the blood and you cant OD on it(though you can feel like it!). barefoots tincture is mild yet effective and i felt i could use that as much as i wanted. the oregano oil is also an antifungal and airway helper. i brought the iodine and air restore and oregano oil with me. i will have to buy everything else we use.
youre a good friend too. thanks for being so supportive.
please remember that all i have learned is what i asked god to lead me to learn. that was to cure myself. now i pray that god leads me to others so i can turn my selfishness into a gift to those in need. i wouldnt know any of this without the lord and i am simply being available for wherever he leads. i am starting to believe that this is one of those instances where the illness had a purpose beyond my friend. i would do this for anyone.
its really kind of scary. in fact, when i first gave bill his supplements, he actually joked about "this stuff aint gonna kill me, is it?" oh brother. how much faith do i need here? and can i face the consequences of whatever happens?
i have created one problem already. bills other daughter who lives in louisianna is goign to be in a quandry. the only excuse for the kids to be out of school is a death in the family. she is going to need a note from the doctor saying that she fully believed that bill was going to die. without it, she could face jail time, or so she says. i want a copy of that note, for sure! buuwhaaahahahahahaha!
Pity I am not cleared to moderate this forum; I would give this post a ~BSA for sure. I am so glad you were able to help restore your friend's quality of life, and hopefully extend it for a good long time. I know two men, one a distant cousin and the other the husband of a dear friend who are in late stage COPD. Both use the C-Pap to oxygenate and regulate their blood. Both are failing, both are deeply committed to traditional medicine. Both men are heavy smokers who are married to heavy smokers. Both worked in highly toxic environments before they got too sick to work. Hopefully a copy of your remarkable post will help open their eyes to the possibilities of hope if they would accept non-traditional methods.
thanks, hopi. i have tried to get some mod help signed on here and webbie is in another world or something. your wish is my command.
i just couldnt believe the way these people were just throwing up their hands and not trying to treat anything except the very end result of the condition. i am truly flummaxed and disgusted by it all. especially witht he ease i have had so far in obtaining more success than they could hope for with their attitude. just think of all the good i could do with just that doctors salary alone. it boggles my mind.
this has proven once again what i already knew - allopathy is completely contraindicatied in chronic illness. dont walk, run from them. run for your life.
You and Bill are fortunate to have each other. I'm extremely happy he's doing so well and think he'll improve constantly, now that he has YOU by his side.
Have you considered Olive Leaf for his infection? Is he off the antibiotics?
Thank you for keeping us posted, I know how difficult that must be for you at this time. Take good care of yourself, get some rest, and trust the Universe.
We'll keep sending Love and good vibes your way :-)
If I were so afflicted I'd be inclined to add 50,000 i.u. of secosteroid D3, as it activates over about 200 systems in the body, and if I were in Aleyska this time of year I'd probably be short on solar exposure. I'd also add zinc to myself in the form of two COLD-EZE(TM) lozenges. My dinner would be liver and onions with a side of either brussels sprouts or broccol.
I can't begin to tell you how blessed I am to hear that Bill pulled out of the tail spin! Your a great friend Trapper and a wise one too. There is much to be learned from this story.
You have many people here whose thoughts and prayers are with you. Good for you, being there for your friend- hope he makes a dramatic recovery and whatever happens from here you will know that you did whatever you could. Who knows, you may have saved his life and you are right, this likely has a higher purpose and is part of something much bigger than yourselves.
...and to think, you are managing all this without the aid of the miraculous healing powers of the Moreless Alkalizing Drink!! ;) ;) ;)
It's wonderful that you were able to help your friend like that. You might want to keep in mind that your very presence may have also had a very powerful effect on improving his status. The energy that is emitted in positive thoughts and prayers has a far more significant impact on our health than we realize. There really is something to what they say about the power of love, and also about laughter being one of the best medicines!
When Bill is up to it, you might suggest to him that he spend lots of time in sunshine and even things like lying on the ground and sitting under trees. In addition to good nutrition and natural remedies such as herbs, etc., the subtle energies of nature have a profound healing effect and will also help to calm his mind and soothe him.
I hope that you are also taking good care of YOU, and doing whatever you need to replenish your own energy!
Here's a few laughs for you, Dr. Miracles, lol...
Oh, and I walked out of the hospital just this past week! I had had some pretty intense chest pains and was so energetically depleted that I wasn't able to physically function very well. I finally caved in and called an ambulance... spent two horrid nights on the cardiac unit at a nearby hospital, got less sleep and had more stress than what I was experiencing where I was staying, and finally walked right out the damn door because I was getting worse by being there! I've gotten better just lying in the grass and sitting in the sun than any of their 'medicine' was doing, and I am finally starting to get my strength back again!
There is NOTHING healing about a hospital environment! And unless I break a bone or something... I will NEVER go back to another hospital again, and even then I might hold off! I know... you learn how to set broken bones and I'll contact YOU, lol!!!
You may want to keep in mind that a Coffee Enema can clear the liver of Candida die off in just a few minutes. Also there is a TCM Lung<>Large Intestine connection therefore a CE always helps lung function.
