What is the meaning of this question:

How to you learn/research alternative healing practices?


I thought it sounds like:
How did you learn/research alternative healing practices?
or
How do you learn/research alternative healing practices?


Question:
How successful do you consider these cleanses or fasts?

Could be transformed into:

Do you consider those cleanses or fasts successful? Please answer with yes or no. If yes, please grade.

It is always smart to ask question in a way that it could be answered with Yes or no. That way, you immediately have statistics about how many people consider it successful, and how many don't.

It is also a common practice not to be suggestive when asking questions.  This one is very imortant for scientists.

Instead of asking: How successful? where you imply and assume that it is successful,
you could and should ask:
Do you consider it a success?
where your question makes no assumptions, but asks a person to give it's opinion or share experience.

Whenever possible, whenever you have a question where you ask people to select between many different options, it could be smart (from the perspective of simplified statistical analysis) to convert the question into a double question, where first question is answered with yes/no, and only if yes, people are also expected to select from a long list of options.

Classic questions where this model could be applied are questions:

Have you used any medications? yes/no (if yes select)
Have you tried any of the cleansing methods? yes/no (if yes select)
Have you suffered form any of the ailments? yes/no (if yes select)
Have you experienced any of the symptoms? yes/no (if yes select)
Have you received any vaccines? yes/no (if yes select)


If you apply this model to similar questions, you make no assumptions, and no suggestions. Surveys that contain too many assumptions and too many suggestions will never be taken seriously by researches. Actually, such surveys are considered a waste of work.

When you hear: that study is flawed ... it could be (one of many possible reasons) that researches were asking suggestive questions.

Another advantage on asking questions that exepct Yes/no answers  is that you get pretty clear statistics on how many people answered yes, and how many people answered no, whenever you look at survey results.

The only little problem is when there are several yes answers or several no answers.

Look at liver flush survey questions 2 to 9.
There you have examples of questions asked in yes/no model ... but also multiple NOs or multiple YESs.

Example:
- Yes: I will select all that apply.
- No, I never experienced any improvement
- no, I never suffered from any of the symptoms to begin with
- no, bu tit is too early to expect any changes
- options
- options
- options

Some people will argue that those double questions are confusing. But, considering that alternative is not as user friendly as this model ... you have to choose the one that gives the better results.

How long time does it take to compose a survey?
It can take a long time to design a single survey.

Putting together Liver Flush Survey has taken longer then 2 weeks of work, several hours a day.

That time, survey software was without option for automatically adding new options to the list of options. As a result, I had to manually add as many as possible options. Some options has taken a whole day. Like options about medications, options about different products for bowel cleansing, parasites cleansing, zappers ...
different ailments ... different symptoms.


When adding a new question into your survey, You have one great option where you can copy and paste one existing question (with all of it's options) from any one of existing surveys. Reciciling survey questions.

It is smart to use it when creating similar surveys.


For example, it has taken over 2 weeks of work to put together Liver Flush survey, but it has taken only a few hours to put together Oil Pulling survey or Master Cleanse survey, cause 90% of questions and options were copied from existing surveys, mostly from Liver Flush.
