Oil pulling has worked great on my keratosis pilaris (I oil pull with coconut oil). I have discovered this: If don't oil pull at least 3 times a week, the KP comes back. At least 3 times a week = status quo. Six times a week = lessening of the bumps on my arms. However, the red spots remained until ...
Just three weeks ago I started taking digestive enzymes, with meals and in between. Normally they say you don't notice improvements until after 3 weeks, and definite energy boost after 6 weeks (the first 3 weeks you fluctuate as your body begins to get proper nutrition from the food it digests, then the second 3 weeks your body is then beginning to thrive off of the nutrients it should have been getting). I noticed improvements immediately, which says to me I have had a definite malabsorption problem. The immediate results I noticed were extra soft skin (beyond what I get from oil pulling) ... newborn baby soft, and immediate energy burst with meals, and no more acid reflux. Week 2 I also have had improvement for myopia, and swelling in the cornea in one eye that I've had for 4 years that the doc never could say why I had it went away one night after some stinging in the eye.
Well, it's the end of week 3 on the enzymes, and I haven't oil pulled in over a week. Normally, the KP would be coming back after missing the oil pulling so long. BUT my arms are the best they've ever been, no KP bumps, and THE RED SPOTS ARE FADING! I think it IS a combo of the oil pulling and the enzymes, but the enzymes seem to be a must for really eradicating this.
I bet one of the things we absorb when oil pulling is enzymes. Some research I read on KP supposed the bumps were protein build up due to hypersensitivity reactions (like allergy). Some digestive enzymes help break down proteins, and also carbs (the carbs tend to be the culprit with allergies). So the enzymes work on both the potential carb-caused hypersensitivities and the protein build up. Enzymes are destroyed at temperatures above 110°F, so cooked foods have very little—your body makes the rest (all our organs make enzymes for various purposes). So if your body isn't making the enzymes properly, or if it's overwhelmed making the enzymes to digest instead of putting the enzymes to the use the organs would have naturally been making them for, then you've got health problems. Only way to get the enzymes from your food is to eat raw, or supplement.
Maybe the people with KP who do not see any difference with oil pulling are using oils that have been heat processed, so aren't getting enough enzymes to break down the protein build up causing the KP? Maybe I get the results because my coconut oil wasn't heat processed, and maybe coconut is high in enzymes?
I'll keep an eye on this, and if the KP and red spots get to where they're 100% gone (might be a week or two to get the full healing results), I'll post pictures! I've got pictures up from moles I've been working on to remove with iodine, which inadvertently show the KP on the arms. So there will be a good comparison of before and after, once I have good after.
I sure hope this is the answer to the KP problems (and other health problems I have)! I'm really excited to maybe finally have some answers.
Honey, OP should be an every morning thing, like brushing your teeth. KP aside, it's for your dental health.
You can learn a lot at CZ. You must take care of your liver, kidney's, bowels.....inflammation. It's all connected. Your female parts are connected to your non-female parts. Symmetry. Western practitioners never got that whole thing. Eastern practitioners totally get it. Forget the hip bone is connected to the leg bone, it's more like your colon is connected to your ovaries, which is connected to your gall bladder, which is connected to.....
Oh, I'm definitely not saying don't oil pull. I will forever oil pull. Unfortunately, sometimes I just can't do it every day. In our family of five, three are the sort who talk to you constantly and expect you to reply. When I can, I do it while I shower. Can't do it at work, small office so I'm having to deal with customers or answer the phone. Can't do it on the commute ... it's only a mile. At worst, I do put in multiple back-to-back pulls on nights when I have to work all night after everyone goes to bed. It will get better over the next few years as the kids head off to college (hubby understands and knows what I'm doing when he sees me swishing, and lets me be, except he seems to HAVE to plant a smooch, which briefly makes it difficult—though I still appreciate it). I just think from what I've observed that oil pulling and enzymes complement each other. I think the enzymes help with the healing process of the KP red spotting, which is something many with KP have said the oil pulling does not fully get rid of for them.
Oh yes, the very busy family. I completely understand. Sometimes I only do it for 5 minutes on crazy days. Not too fulfilling, but it's something to help melt those nasties at least. I know someone who commuted while swishing.....a mile is not enough, and getting out of your car at work and hocking a loogy in the parking lot is not a great career builder.
I have to find that commuter post....now I'm on a mission...
Now this is Trapper. He's the original "Give it to Mikey" guy here. Trapper would take any therapy and do it longer, take higher doses, he is the ultimate "extreme natural health" guru. So we used to watch him and egg him on. If someone would OP for one hour, Trapper would OP for 4.
I watched him do many things and it was like....well it didn't kill Trapper, I guess I could try the recommended dosage! LOL!
He's a walking, talking testament to many things the government said will kill you, and the man just got healthier! He's the ultimate, don't try this at home guy.
So he's walked through fire and I'd say there is no better to say, I not only experienced this, but I pushed it to the limit.
But at least I found his post. I think he pulled on his commute so long one day he started to see everything in purple or something. Now that's heavy, LOL.
I did it for a 6 hour drive back from Kansas to the Ozarks. The tall paper cup I was spitting in was quite nasty. Amazing how much oil and spit accumulates after 6 hours of oil pulling. The entire way, I was hoping I didn't do anything to get a highway patrol trooper to pull me over. No telling what he'd think of the "open container."
Unfortunately, I've a very public job, so can't get away with streams of oil spurting out of my mouth. Although, the tobacco chawin' men types around here would probably get a laugh out of it, but the prim and proper elderly church ladies would greatly frown on it and I'd be ostracized for life and probably chased out of my job. I do my best with whatever time I can squeeze in.
Just wondering what kind/brand of enzymes you use. I have suffered from this nasty condition for 15 years, and have always thought it has to do with malabsorption of fats or sth like that. I have bad digestion, but doctors says it's just IBS. I tried a multienzyme supplment I bought at GNC, but it caused some heartburn (maybe because of the HCI it contains, which stimulates acid production).
