I realize that some people are seeking help from their practitioners. When medication is given, it is expected to work, but not in all cases as I had learned. If you have a resistance issue, it might be worth printing off the below for your doctor to consider. They need to be informed that a problem could possibly exist and that it isn't your "imagination". The only way that this will be understood more is when there is documentation -- if you have a resistance issue it should be documented and reported. Also, it might be a good idea to look at a posting that I did with parasitologists regarding the matter and concerns.
There are several publications on helminth infections questioning and reviewing resistance in humans. The first link is rather extensive following the Abstract with a study -- worth the read. The following are Abstracts which are cited below.
ABSTRACT
In this review the available reports on drug resistance in human helminths, particularly hookworms and schistosomes, are critically analyzed. The experiences with helminths of livestock are then reviewed, in particular the factors contributing to the development of anthelmintic resistance, the mechanisms and genetics of resistance to various anthelmintic classes, and the methods available for detection. These experiences appear to be worryingly similar and relevant to the potential development of drug resistance in human helminths. Recommendations to reduce its risks are suggested.

Human gastrointestinal helminth infections: are they now neglected diseases?

Abstract
Although over half the world's population might be infected by gastrointestinal (GI) helminths, their importance as therapeutic targets has been much underrated. GI helminths have only been recognized as causing considerable damage to individuals and to communities in the past 20 years, and global recognition of the problem only occurred within the past few years. As we move into the 21st century, there is a desire to undertake the challenging task of global control of GI helminths, while problems of drug resistance are discussed in the same breath. Today, we have tools that are effective for the task ahead, but these might only be available for a short time. Because of their effectiveness (both for control and as treatments for individuals), their simplicity of use and their excellent tolerability, there has been no incentive to develop new options. Unless there is a sustained effort in drug research and development, we might have to face a world without effective anthelmintics.

Abstract
Parasitic helminths (worms) cause serious infectious diseases in humans and animals. As control of these infections relies mostly on chemotherapeutics, the anthelmintics, resistance has developed against most of these drugs in several parasite species. These resistant parasites are being used to elucidate the molecular mechanism of drug action.

Abstract
The most commonly used modern anthelmintics include the benzimidazoles, the nicotinic agonists, praziquantel, triclabendazole and the macrocyclic lactones. These drugs interfere with target sites that are either unique to the parasite or differ in their structural features from those of the homologous counterpart present in the vertebrate host. The benzimidazoles exert their effect by binding selectively and with high affinity to the β-subunit of helminth microtubule protein. The target site of the nicotinic agonists (e.g. levamisole, tetrahydropyrimidines) is a pharmacologically distinct nicotinic acetylcholine receptor channel in nematodes. The macrocyclic lactones (e.g. ivermectin, moxidectin) act as agonists of a family of invertebrate-specific inhibitory chloride channels that are activated by glutamic acid. The primary mode of action of other important anthelmintics (e.g. praziquantel, triclabendazole) is unknown. Anthelmintic resistance is wide-spread and a serious threat to effective control of helminth infections, especially in the veterinary area. The biochemical and genetic mechanisms underlying anthelmintic resistance are not well understood, but appear to be complex and vary among different helminth species and even isolates. The major mechanisms helminths use to acquire drug resistance appear to be through receptor loss or decrease of the target site affinity for the drug. Knowledge on the mechanisms of drug action and resistance may be exploitable for the development of new drugs and may provide information on ways to overcome parasite resistance, respectively.
At least one of the factors that stop drugs from working is Heavy Metals.
Anyone with a large number of parasties IMO can count on being metal poisoned, either Lead or Mercury...mostly both.
Interesting view on Parasites cleanses and Heavy Metal, from:
Taking all kinds of cleansing/detox products at the same time does very little to improve the patient. All you do is create confusion within the body as to what path it should follow and the patient just gets sicker because of the various die-offs. Things like parasites; Candida, CFS, Fibromyalgia etc are sequellae of Hg poisoning in a lot of people. And as long as Hg is a problem you can try as hard as you can to get rid of the symptoms, but within a very short time the patient will be dealing with the same problem until the metal is removed from their bodies and a path of permanent correction can begin. Again, for this reason it is wise to have the help of a licensed practitioner and one who understands the need to treat this issue in "layers" and at the patient?s tolerance. Many do not understand the mechanism of mercury toxicity and the careful, gentle therapy needed to return to health.

I didn't say I agreed with it...only that it was an interesting view :)
That said; I do agree unfortunately for most, and I can say that because of the people I talked with, this understanding is lacking in even those considered the best...
It also becomse far more critical for those with Lyme since Lyme will use those metals against us, and maybe a less gentle approach would be appropriate.
Thank you so much for posting this. I have printed your post out and am taking it in along with pictures and a letter to my Doc later today.
She has been resistant to any of my communication on this subject for months. My efforts to get any MD to help me on my persistent and accelerating symptoms, and my evidence: have been futile, frustrating; and my health has been deteriorating at an alarming rate. I know I am contagious and I have a moral obligation to my friends, family and wannabe lover to reduce my contact to prevent infection of my loved ones.
I have a limited income, and this has been my albatross. I am astonished with the current stupidity being demonstrated by my MD's.
HostessWMostest- who wishes to send all these unwanted 'guests' packing.
Thanks for asking. I hope you are feeling well enough to deal with what has been going on for you.
My heart is doing better, so that's a relief.
I took the articles from this thread and some I had researched on the web along with the pic I took, a personal letter explaining my medical history and the difficulty I have had getting any real help. I gave it all to my doc and asked her to make sure they end up in my file, although I doubt she will ever read them. I will check up next time I see her to make sure those pages are included in my medical file.
I saw the MD yesterday and several tests were ordered. I took in two bottles from home with a 12-14 inch 'something' in a 50% alcohol solution. I was told by a doc friend of mine that this would be helpful to save my samples so that it might be able to be identified.
They are sending it to the lab with a 'what is this' order. Also included is a nose and cough sample of eggs and 'strings' that are almost 1/2 inch long from my nose. The attending doc was as ignorant as I expected him to be although I have to say he was open and really listening. He also asked me if I do recreational drugs like amphetamines. I did my best to resist feeling insulted through-out this conversation. I do not do drugs and have been anti-drug for most of my life. He also asked me about depression. Sigh: Same 'Ol, same 'ol.
He thought amphetamine use would explain that 'biting' sensation I had in my scalp during the first 2 days of my first Alebendazole treatment. We discussed 'migration and returning cycles of infection'. He asked me if I had spent several months in any foreign country like India, etc. I let him know that parasite infections are now in the US. lol. He suggested that my 12-14 inch sample was 'fiber'. Wouldn't that be nice? snicker.
At least he sent the 2 samples to the lab, so I am happy there is a little progress. My GP was also in the room when I pulled out the jars. She actually jumped away from the samples twice and I got a kick out of her body language. I thought: Welcome to my world!
I am concerned about being contagious although the attending doc said not to worry at all about it and also indicated that the 2 rounds of Albandezole would have eradictated it all. He told me I could not have any parasite infection in my nose and I let him know it is rare: but it does happen and then I suggested he research it on the web.
We did a colonoscopy a few months ago and 'nothing' showed up so he ordered an EGD to get a look at my stomach which has been like a little football for 8 months now. I still have pain after meals, bloating and all the rest. He also said that a colonoscopy would have exposed any parasite infection. Of course: I do not thnk that is true.
I have not been referred to a specialist yet! Calling the docs office this morning to amke sure I get a referral.
I am about to start my Humaworm cycles including the liver cleanse.
They gave me Nasonex spray which did bring the nose inflamation and itching down within 24 hrs. We'll see if I continue to have a problem with what I am expelling from my nose and lungs.
Otherwise life is grand although contagion is still a big concern. I have a new boyfriend and am wondering what to do about intimacy. The attending was adament about my not being able to infect my lover. I think he is wrong! The jury is out about that however I sure don't want to have that conversation with my lover down the road: "Oops, sorry Hon, but I gave you parasites which are extremely difficult to eradicate and now you might be contagious!" I would judge myself harshly if that conversation ever came to pass.
I don't know what to think or do about that except continue to keep my body and my place clean, wash hands frequently, etc.
Well, this has sure has been a long-winded answer to your short question.
Goodness me! I can relate to practically everything you say in your post. Do we have the same doctor I ask myself?? Soulds like it! My GP was rather ignorant too, with some of the questions I was asked. I found it insulting to say the least. I was even asked if I'd been abroad too. I told him you don't need to go abroad to get a parasite infection!! (God give me strength!).
My heart symptoms too have calmed down a lot. They are still present but I don't experience them as often.
You've certainly had a lot of what I've had done and nothing showed up with me either - my GP tests/hospital tests. Stool samples were the first thing I handed in to my GP. Came back negative yet the sample I produced had, what I considered to be, a worm. He even thought so himself! Still came back negative. I had the awful sputum analysed too, came back ok,(which I struggle to believe because I definately spit up parasite eggs, no doubt about that).
I've had the colonoscopy/endoscopy too. No parasites found, although they did find the h-pylori bug which I was treated for. I told my GP my symptoms were far too aggressive and severe for it just to be the h-pylori bug.
Interestingly, even after cleansing, various other alternative practitioners, hospital tests I knew I had parasites. Try telling your doctor after having all this and yes, it's difficult for them to believe you have parasites. That's been my experience. Many times I wanted to scream.
Regarding my results I had done last year these came AFTER I had all my GP/hospital tests yet GP/hospital found nothing (apart from h-pylori bug). I find it absolutely incredible I can have all this going on yet my national health service found practically nothing. The mind boggles! It's absolutely astonishing.
I'm doing ok at the moment. I'm working with a practitioner. It can be slow but I'm well aware I have a long healing journey ahead of me.
With regards to the contagious side of things, I worry too, for my other family members, mother, father, sisters, brother, nephews, nieces. It's a huge concern for me.
With regards to the intimacy in your relationship I sympathise with you entirely. I have a HUSBAND and I worry dearly for him. He is aware of my infections/infestations and we are very careful but can we ever be careful enough? I've read that parasite infections are common in married couples and with us being so close I cannot disregard his health. He has absolutely no symptoms that I have, NONE whatsoever. It is a grave concern for me so I understand your concern for your boyfriend. I would like my husband tested but because he has no symptoms and he feels fine he doesn't see the need (?!!) I have to say I think he's rather ignorant to the fact that maybe he doesn't want to know that possibly he has what I have. I know he won't admit it. He often says he has no symptoms if I ask anything, but I've told him one can be symptom free. I know my infections probably took years to manifest themselves to a serious problem. One thing IS for sure, he'll have no idea what hits him if he has got what I've got!! It scares me to even think that.
Very interesting reading, yet how darned right frustrating too. My heart goes out to you both, and Rabbit ears, and Monique1 in knowing it's not all in your head- being told the same thing most everyone is told when MD's just don't have an answer "we can put you on anti-depressants", and not being able to get anything resolved one way or the other. Time and again I've heard people say they've taken samples in and known it contained parasites, and been told they were "food fibers". You know what you eat, you know the difference. Who here hasn't become a "poop inspector" in dealing with these things?
I have some of the same concerns you do about being "infectious" to others. Not just with the parasites, but the blood test that came back highly positive for chronic/reactive EBV, and the Alt Med Dr. muscle testing for CMV virus and finding it to be active. I have no idea how long I may have been an "infectious person".
I want the Alt Health Dr. to test my husband the next time we're there.
I have a big concern for my 20 something year old (3) children now, after finding the load of parasites I've killed over the last 9 months especially, and knowing what kind of shape my liver was in from being so congested. I'm afraid for them to not kill the parasites- but frankly, I'm also very concerned about having them start to kill the parasites too--and having things go wrong with the resistance/scattering etc. All of you are proof that it happens. There's no going into it with the idea that it's just a month long thing and you're done either, which alot of people think, or that going on a 2 week round from the MD's and you're done either.
Please keep us posted on what becomes of both of you with your Dr's, and also with what happens with the round of Humaworm/liver flushing.
Thanks for sharing about your husband and your similar experiences. I want to talk to you via email about your nose and cough symptoms to see if we have a look-alike.
I tried to email you and it said something about 'Not accepting...blah blah'
I also want to get pics of what is coming up out of my nose and lungs. I have so many visible seeds in there I cannot believe the docs are being so stupid....I also have fat "C" shapes that hold their shape under duress, something that looks like a fat full sized sand flea, and more that look like seahorses! lol. No kidding! If it wasn't my own experience: I would never, ever believe it! I couch up stuff constantly and carry tissue all the time for that tickle that drives me crazy. I cannot believe the size of stuff coming up out of my lungs and am amazed I can still breath!
I wash my hands so much. This has turned me into a 'parasite phobe' and it sucks unilaterally.
All of yesterday and last night my heart felt all clogged and was doing 'gallumpy-gallumpy'; like thick fluid is trying to pass through my heart. This was while I was feeling extra congested and a severe itchy nose.
No call from the doc's office re: results on the worm pic and samples.
I am going to request a lung CT scan. Do you know if this is a helpful test?
I only ever had x-rays so it's possibly why nothing showed up. Maybe I should have got a CT Scan. Maybe something would have shown up. I think CT Scan would show up a lot more.
What about a lung biopsy?
Another useful link for any unanswered questions re CT Scans.
The pic above looks exactly like what I have seen coming up out of my nose and lungs.
Only: Mine is CLEARLY visible to the naked eye.
There is a dark spot in many of the egg looking sacs.
And I saw this elsewhere and so much of it looked and sounded like what is going on in my body.
The hydatid sand look alike seeds are clearly visible to the naked eye. Some are as large as a sesame seed and very hard. Many are squishy looking (hatched eggs)?
I just called the doc's office to see what the lab results were of the large samples, pics, etc I took in last week. waiting to hear back as my doc does not have a nurse available today.
This all makes me feel sick. It is so gross and scary!
I sympathise with you. I totally understand. This isn't easy at all. :-( Your pictures are very clear. Mmmm, I do wonder what those things are. Parasite eggs.. they could well be. I wonder what your doctor will come back with, if anything at all. That will be interesting.
Yes, why don't you start a new thread at the top. Other members may chip in after viewing your pictures.
Re: the lung CT scan, I'm really not sure what will show up. I had two chest x-rays and nothing showed up, so they said. How can this be, I asked myself? I have wheezing, coughing, pain, and awful sputum, yet their x-ray showed nothing. Maybe they can't "see" what's in front of them. Just my opinion. What would parasite eggs in the lungs look like on a scan? I've often wondered this. Would a doctor recognise this? Are they hard to pick up on x-ray or CT scans. These were all questions I wanted answers to. There's no way my lungs are ok with all the crap I cough up!
Why don't you try emailing me again (through "contact"). I've had the same problem when emailing another member. I kept trying and eventually the email went ok. Just keep trying. I haven't blocked any messages from being received. I emailed you too, did you get my message? Check your in-box please.
When I went to reply to your message in my inbox again this message was displayed Unfortunately, #70428 has specified to block all private messages from forum visitors.
At this moment, you can not send email message to #70428. You may try to contact #70428 some other day.
I was signed in, so ???
I will have to start my own thread.
All the samples came up: negative. This is a total joke!
That 12-14" worm was in alcohol. And they say "it is nothing'.
I chew my food! roflmao.
Tons of eggs from my lungs and nose were visible to the naked eye. 'nothing'
The small threads (itchy) supposedly were 'nothing'.
This makes me want to give up.
I cannot stand to go see my doc this week and hear her say: "Well, our tests show nothing, so you must be messed up in the head."
I am not delushional, but maybe I am wrong...?
Something causes all these things to show up. My heart was in bad shape for 2 full days and nights. Nothing bad enough to go to the ER about. The heat wave makes it worse.
This is the most ridiculous situation.
What is causing all these symptoms and how could they miss what was on the samples?
Perplexing as hell, and since it is my health, very scary!
Not sure why you can't send email using "contact", I certainly haven't blocked them. Just keep trying. I sent you an email, please check your inbox, did you get it?
It can be very frustrating when your own doctor is finding nothing. But it's very common. Most of us here at CZ have probably been through these "negative" findings, I certainly have and look what I know! Don't give up. Try and be strong, I know it can be very difficult. Many a time I have nearly lost the will. It's the hardest thing I've ever known or had to deal with. I've never known symptoms like it!
If your doctors don't know what they are actually looking it, bet you 9 times out of 10 they'll say "negative" anyway. I'm not sure what you can do or say, they'll always believe they are right. They can only go by their (so called) tests and results in my opinion. You know you are seeing eggs, parasites, so believe in yourself. Don't let them get to you, you're not delusional. Many, if not all, here at CZ totally understand how you are feeling with regards to being "told it's all in your head". You're not alone there.
Yes, the heart symptoms are very scary indeed. When it's your heart, you know it's your heart.
I'll try and see if I can see what's wrong with me receiving emails. Perhaps another CZoner could possibly "contact 70428" through email and see if I receive their message. Like I said, I emailed another member and had problems too, saying it was blocked. I kept trying and eventually it went ok. I'll have a look anyway. But if you could let me know if you got my email I sent you.
Tried to reply, and this came up:

Thanks to you and Jessie's Mom I feel a little better about not giving up.
Hang in there and keep fighting. It will be interesting to see what they have to say about the long "fiber". Sheesh! By any chance, is the new classification for "unidentified objects" a fiber now? Does that mean you swallowed a shoestring or a whole wheat stock? LOL!
In regard to the emailing with using the internal system it is a bit tricky. That message will keep coming up. To avoid it, you need to hit on "contact" again and it will give you a new email/thread to start. It's not a brilliant system but it works.
