Charlie has definitely crossed a line that should not be allowed, imho, but I also think that it would have been best if you had gone ahead and exited as promised.  Like Charlie, you too just cannot keep from responding when you feel you have been wronged (or even contradicted for that matter).  In this instance you have been very much wronged.  But surely you see that Charlie will not sit still as long as you continue to make these posts.

I know how hard it is to not respond at such times - I still get drawn into debates when I would be better served by remaining silent - but my advice is to just let it go and leave it in the hands of the WM to take appropriate action.  What Charlie did virtually handed his head to the WM on a silver platter.

You may not have the last word, but you should get the last laugh.
