You might find it strange then that The Hunzas had no vaccination programme for themselves or their infants, and who had an extremely low rate of mortality, and/or that the Eskimos and North American Indians had not experienced disease before the arrival of the white man.
I agree that the Europeans introduced many diseases that Native Americans had no natural immunity for. This was also one of the early examples of biological warfare when they provided tribes with blankets infected with smallpox. Too bad medicine had not advanced to the point where a vaccine could have protected them. Our babies have little passive immunity to the diseases endemic in the US. That's why we vaccinate.
There are diseases in parts of the world that are not endemic to the United States, such as a strain of Menigitis prevalent in Sub Saharan Africa. Natural Polio has not occured in the US in some time but we continue to vaccinate because these diseases are a plane ride away. If the anti-vaccine movement continues to grow, we won't even have to worry about the plane.

In 1998, the National Cancer Institute published findings from a study (Strickler et al., 1998) that revealed that, after 30 years, there was no increased incidence of cancer in persons who may have received vaccine containing SV40. The study used the National Cancer Institute's SEER database, which contains information on more than 2.5 million cancer cases in the U.S., and the Connecticut Tumor Registry, and included millions of people exposed to contaminated poliovirus vaccine and decades of cancer incidence and mortality data. Comparisons of the rates of cancer were made between persons who had received SV40-contaminated vaccine as infants born in 1956–1962 and persons born in 1947–1952 and 1964–1969. This study looked specifically for types of rare cancers that have been found to contain SV40 in recent cellular research (Carbone et al., 1994) and found no significant increased incidence compared with persons who had not received contaminated SV40 vaccine. The rare cancers included ependymomas (cancer of cells found in developing fetal neural tubes from which the brain and spinal cord arise as a baby develops), osteosarcomas (a type of bone cancer), mesotheliomas (a type of cancer that originates in the tissue lining of the lung cavity) and brain cancers.
Olin et al. (1998), conducted a long-term follow-up study of 700,000 people in Sweden who received polio vaccine potentially contaminated with SV40 in 1957 as school-age children. Their results revealed no increased cancer incidence between persons who received vaccine containing SV40 and those who did not.
Geissler (1988) analyzed German National Cancer Registry data to compare the incidence of cancer in 885,783 persons born between 1959–1961 who received polio vaccine that may have been contaminated with SV40 and compared it with 891,321 persons born between 1962–1964 who received SV40-free vaccine. These data demonstrated that persons who received polio vaccine possibly contaminated with SV40 did not develop more tumors within a 20-year period than did those who received vaccine that did not contain SV40.
Mortimer (1981) studied cancer deaths of 1,073 persons born between 1960–1962 who received oral poliovirus or inactivated poliovirus vaccine that contained SV40 when newborn. The follow-up study over 17–19 years revealed no increased number of deaths from cancer. In 2001, a 35-year follow-up study of this group was published. The study found no deaths in the group due to tumors of the type that have been associated with SV40 (Carroll-Pankhurst, 2001).
Fraumeni et al. (1970) followed 1,000 persons who had received SV40 contaminated poliovirus vaccine within a few days after birth. The majority of these people received the SV40-contaminated oral vaccine. At 8 years of age, no cancer deaths were identified in the exposed group.
Fraumeni et al. (1963) focused on a cohort of children age 6–8 years who received inactivated poliovirus vaccine in 1955. A comparison was made based on whether children received vaccine with high, low or no detectable amount of SV40 contamination. Mortality rates from leukemia and all other cancers from 1950–1959 were compared across the three groups. No differences in cancer rates were found for this period.

~It was absolutely taken out of context if you think I support, or ever supported, routine smallpox vaccinations. I DO NOT support immunizing our children with the Smallpox Vaccine because the risks outweight the rewards. Regardless, too bad the Native Americans didn't have it because the disease was specifically used to target and kill them (and it worked). We vaccinate the military for Anthrax but it won't be included on the ACIP recommended schedule for immunizations. Hey, I guess we've come across another vaccine benefit. Also, in response to my listing many follow up studies regarding SV40 in polio, you said I raised an eyebrow because I am alleging there is no link to SV40 virus in Polio and cancer. Never said that. I am glad to see that you admit that at least some vaccines have greater potential risks than rewards. That is exactly my point and why many of us feel that way about most vaccines. The known risks are bad enough - the ones that have not yet been studied or reveald could be horrific.

For the most part...you're preaching to the choir on the Smallpox Vaccine (See previous response to DQ). You had brought up the Native Americans and I pointed out that the "White Man" had brought disease to the Native Americans. I agree. Some diseases are endemic to parts of the world and not in others. The Europeans used Smallpox as an agent of biological warfare. If someone is trying to shoot at me, I would prefer a bullet proof vest.

Exactly, and no one knows what the long term effects are of injecting so many viruses and toxins into infants and young children whose fragile and still developing neurological systems are most susceptible. I say that the odds are very great that a great many long term effects will not be good.
Everything we injest or have injected has consequences, unless it is somehow passed unchanged from the body - even a single atom. Whatever effects they may be, our children will not be exactly the same as they would have been if they had not been vaccinated.
Yes, they will have immunity levels they would not have otherwise had - unless naturally exposed, in which case their immunity would have been even greater in most instances. They will also have demonstrably greater chances of an adverse vaccination reaction than they will of contracting the disease they were innoculated against.
I fear that they will also have over all suppressed immune systems, impaired neurological growth and mental abilities, and greater susceptibility to and incidence of chronic illness in the future.
The simple fact is that over 95% of lab created artificial drugs and unnatural patented isolates that come from Big Pharma have side effects. In many instances, those side effects lead to secondary contitions that require still more side-effect laden drugs so that by the time an average male reaches the age of 65 he is taking 15 prescribed and over the counter medications daily - when it all usually started with one or two conditions that could have been treated or prevented naturally. It is not true healthcare, it is an escalating system of managed illness in which our natural body functions are increasingly regulated in unnatural ways by drugs. It is a great system for profits, but a horrible one for health and humanity.
Nature, on the other hand, normally has few side effects and, despite the hushed up truth Big Pharma would have you believe, is quite often not only safer, but also more effective and far less expensive. The bottom line difference, many of us believe, is that anything which is unnatural and not encountered in nature in it's present form, is probably not healthy to put inside our bodies. It is in effect a foreign toxin and it can lead to any number of health issues in both the short and long term.
We who choose to protect our children from disease by providing healthy diets and lifestyles that build strong immune systems simply do not want to subject them to the risks, known and unknown, that come from unnatural vaccinations.
As a sidenote: When I began researching natural health several years and many thousands of hours ago, I thought vaccinations were good, nay essential, and that in general the only real and effective medicine was that which was approved by the FDA and prescribed by our trusted doctors, just the way they were taught in medical school. I thought that natural alternatives were generally less effective at best and dangerous snake-oil at worst.
