Since no one here had any info, did some research on above. Googling Guai or guaifenesin+FMS or MCS or CFS produced a lot of info and TWO yahoo support groups.
Also the info that this is OTC NON_PRESCRIPTRION treatment. Lots of folks just use MUCINEX!!!! [Yeah, that cold med with the gross bugger cartoon characters!]
I happened to have lots of Robitussin DM on hand [1 tsp=100 mg Guai] and was able to pick up some 600 mg T/R Mucinex tabs. Started about a week ago with the usual 300 mg twice a day starting dose. The first few days were hell...turns out I had accidentally miscalculated the liquid dose that I was taking in the eves. Was taking 1350 mg instead of 300 mg! Result was insomnia and a bear of a symptom exacerbation cycle. Temporarily needed some heavy duty pain meds.
Once I got on the 300 mg twice a day, that was also too much. As of today, only using 150 mg or 1/4 of a 600 mg Mucinex, twice a day. Will take about a week to see if cycling symptoms are tolerable and chemical sensitivities still reduced at that dose. It is a fine-tuning process, very individual.
This med is actually supposed to reverse the underlying cause of these conditions, not just treat symptoms. There are lots of testimonies out there, in the Yahoo groups and elsewhere.
Check it out for yourself. I am so glad that I did, rather than let my considerable prejudice and suspicion regarding prescription meds hold me back.
This is the first time in years I have had strength, energy, mental focus, and calm emotions all at once, hour after hour day after day. I have hope that the recurrent crashes and setbacks will soon be a thing of the past. LIFE SHOULD BE LIKE THIS ALWAYS, FOR ALL OF US!!!!

LD Di, forgive me if I'm just totally clueless here, but was it you that was doing the moreless protocol a while back and was doing really good with it? If it was you, do you still think that protocol is good for these type conditions, or not? Thanks!
I ask this because honestly the moreless protocol has thoroughly confused me because I can't seem to be able to do it, especially the blackstrap molasses, but I keep thinking maybe I'm just not getting something right. Just wondering what you thought about it all now.
Thanks LD Di! It's good to know the ML protocol is still working for you. I like to see if people stay with a protocol or it stops working for them and they move to something else. But I do understand that the ML protocol is different than other protocols in that it is a general protocol to do for life. Thanks again! I hope this new thing you are doing works too!
Hey Di, I did Guai before I started the ML protocols and found some relief but I was wondering your thoughts on why chelation is needed.
I was thinking more whether it could be used to help clear the lymph system of acids after one takes an alkalizing bath and over does it. I know many people who have done the baths know what I'm talking about. It usually happens right at the beginning when one first starts learning how to use the correct amounts of ingredients.
I don't think that I personally would want to use it on a regular basis but if it could be used to help with the pain of the "first-learning" mistakes, then I see that as a good thing.
How did U hear about it, and what were U led to expect that it could do???
There are several diff opinions and theories out there abt it. It is even used by singers to improve their voices. Mine has def improved on it.
I looked into Guai because there were unexplained setbacks that neither ML protocol or desensitization were solving. Google Dr. Paul St. Armand for the basics theory.
Many theories re MCS revolve around having to remove something that is playing havoc with multiple systems in our bods. Ex: Mercury/amalgams. But many who remove these, and even someone such as myself who also has quit "cleanses" and remineralized for a considerable time can still have very uneven energy, pain, sensitivity that doest not seen to fit ML's explanations. So, I looked further.
St. Armand suggests a hereditary tendceny to accumulate phosphates is responsible is some if not all cases. If this is the problem, it is a progressive chronic condition. Guai reverses it. There are many folks who have done this successfully. His official therapy uses too much Guai and painkillers 4 me, so I researched further and found out that it can also be done far more holistically at far lover dosage, without pain killers for the most part. That is what I am doing. [See Yahoo low Guai group.]
Tho St A's site seems to recommend being on it 4 life, I intend to give it a trial, and if it performs well, stay on for a while, then test with time off just as I do with anything else I have added to basic healthy lifestyle, diet, and ML's stuff. Will post results and progress.
As always, keep seeking abundant life and joy
By seeking accurate knowledge!
Before I got my diagnoses for MS, I was searching for answers to why my body was in so much pain. I ran across Dr. Paul St. Armand study and gave it a try. It did give me some relieve but not completely, so I knew it was not the whole answer.
Then I ran across the ML forum and learned about pH balancing and came to look at body fluids very differently.
I really don't think Dr. Armand understands why it works correctly. I would love for him and Moreless to meet up and have a chat. :)
I think it has more to do with thinning the fluids in the lymph system and helping to move the acids out better. The acids thicken up those fluids and they don't move as easily. The reason people cycle is because of that movement of the acids going through the body (much like taking the alkalizing baths) plus the fact that many may still not be eating according to pH balancing and keep adding more acids that need to move out.
At least thats my take on the issue. I wonder if we can find the natural supplement Guaiacum instead of Guaifenisen.
