I just had a baby 2 months ago and then got the IUD, I had just almost got of my 1st period when I went in to get it I just spoted for like 3 days then it got really heavy. It lasted about for a while but I started to feel like I was getting heaver and everyone I asked just said that I could just be blowed, so I thougt that once I got off my period I would loose the weight.? I finally got off my period and I didn't feel like any weight was comeing off,( I have never had a problem over eating or anything and I have alway been a good size, I was 140 post preg.) Anyways I went to the dr. a month after my check up and I had gaind 2lbs in a month and I asked her why and if it was because of the IUD and she asked me if I was drinking alot of soda and I said Yeah but not out of control or anything and it never effected me before, she said it is probably cuz of the soda and to just stop drinking it, So I stopped it only been a few days but I dont understand how a normal amont of soda can make me gain 2lbs in a month??? And now I am starting to get bad cramps, really bad I couldn't even stand, it happend once yesterday and again to day and then I started my period, But if the cramps were because of my period, WOW I have never felt a cramp like that.? I Dont No What to do???? Is it the IUD? Should I have it take'n out? Why am I gaining so much wait? can anyone help me? I also had really bad skin...Way more then normale? sorry so long I just really am scarrd. But if anyone could help me figure this that would be awsome thanks! How do I know its from the IUD? And what other birth control sould I go on?
I too had weight gain, bad skin and the worst cramps in the world. Turns out that my cervix was trying to push the nasty thing out. I had mine taken out yesterday and I've started my period today with my usual associated migraine. I am pleased that I had it taken out I feel so much better; don't want to tell you what to do but I think you should weigh up whether the side effects are worth the hassle - in my case they weren't.
You absolutely are gaining weight from your IUD--that was my first side-effect too. Others will almost certainly follow. Get it out. I don't care what you spent: get it out. Your doctor may not (probably not) believe you. The soda comment is a very bad sign, in my opinion. Bring in the side-effects list from the mirena website and highlight the ones you have experienced.
Are you breastfeeding? If so, your baby is getting a nice dose of this poison too.
YES, YES, YES!! I have gained over 55lbs since I had the Mirena put in 2 1/2 yrs ago. I am so miserable. Weight gain won't be the only side effect you experience.
I, as many other women on here have had there IUD removed due to the EXTREME side effects. I had mine removed yesterday! Thank god and good riddens! The only advise I can give you is get it out now before it starts to take over your life!
Will I lose the wait? I made the apointment today to get it taken out. Do you know of any birth control that wont make me gain wait? When I told the dr. I wanted to get it take'n out she acked me why and I told her that I think I am gaining weight from it and she was kidda rude about it and she said she couldn't get me in tell dec. and but I got in soon she said next week so, I just hope I lose the wait. And get back to normal.
Relax, you'll lose 2 pounds, no problem. Whether my mirena 20 will melt off is another matter. . .What I can't get over is your doctor's suggestion that soda was causing your weight gain. She pumps you full of funky ass hormone substitute, and she thinks SODA has changed your metabolism?! It takes highly specialized medical training to make a leap like that. She's a regular House.
