I am unsure if I should try and get any vaccines for travel. A few points:
1)I don't really like the idea of putting vaccines into my body with all the problems I have and the bad things I hear about vaccines.
2)I have NO more money to spend on all this, and I have no insurance and I don't know how much these vaccines cost plus there are like 7 of them recommended for where I'm going and I DON'T have enough for all of them, no way.
3)I am scared of getting sick over there.
4)It's highly annoying how everywhere says "See your doctor before planning your trip"
I find the last one HIGHLY annoying, doesn't half the world realize that a large number of us here in the states have NO health care? I do not have a doctor. I do not have insurance. I never have had insurance. I have not had a vaccine since I was a baby..
I'm unsure of what to do. Like I said, I simply don't have the money, but I'm going.. I wanted this trip to just be spontaneous and fun, so many people told me they just hopped a plane to somewhere and had the time of their lives, but how do you be spontaneous with all this nonsense to worry about? Grrr..
Hi Trysten, some countries require vaccinations, you don't have a choice. When I went to Saudia Arabia, I had to get vaccinated and when coming to Jordan also. So it is one thing to get vaccinated to prevent the flu and quite another to prevent death. So if you call the Thailand consulate where you get your visa from, they can give you all the info and also if you are traveling thru any other countries. Now if you don't have money for vaccinations how can you travel? Do you have your passport, now they are real expensive. When I got mine it was 20 dollars but now they are close to 100 I hear.
I already had a passport, and I have just enough money left for my plane ticket and my trip. I didn't plan on losing my job and didn't know how expensive vaccines were.
I looked and no, there are no requirements for going to Thailand and Cambodia besides yellow fever IF you are coming from a country where yellow fever is present and The unites states is not one of those countries.
Man that's a slippery slope. I dunno what I'd do! That really stinks you lost your job - but God always knows what's best. Perhaps it wasn't the best environment? Huh.
When I worked in a mortuary I refused to get all the vaccines they wanted me to get. Hence, I decided not to go in the rooms you needed to have the vaccines for. But Thailand is much prettier than an embalming room...that's a tough choice! Course, being ill upon your return and working harder to get well again would really stink. I'd think it'd be easier to work to get the vaccines out of your system than any number of things you might contract. Right?
You know when I came to Jordan, I did not realize that the water was the worse in the whole world. So it is impossible not to drink the water and most of the illness here is air born. So if possible I would try to get the vaccinations. It is so difficult Trysten to go to a country broke. You need food, meds, and travel. I suggest you need to have some funds or wait. Oops did I say a bad thing?
I know - I've been getting the same vibe about the trip being postponed even a month or two - but if it's paid for - I guess ya gotta go. I'll support you either way, I promise.
Mo - what do you do to keep the water clean? Are you boiling everything or putting iodine in it?
Her trip is already paid for? I too wish you the best, Dear Sweet Trysten and I will support whatever decision you make just try to get money somewhere. Do you have anyone who can send you money if you get in trouble?
Well the water is a big problem. I have water delivered that is filtered. To tell you the truth it is not the best but better than the store bought ones. YOu know pepsi cola announced to the world that their bottled water was merely tap water not even filtered water. I rarely get sick but when they have a bad epidemic here I take tons of olive leaf and maybe like once a year I catch something and it is a doosy. The doctor tells me it is airborn. It is on the internet that Jordan has the worse water in the world. I cannot get iodine here or ip6 but I do take kelp. It is not the best one but it seems to help.
Well, if there is ANY WAY we could get you iodine - let's try it. Lord, I dunno - get it in something! Kelp still tests for arsenic and I dunno about that. Snakeater, one of my heroes here on CZ, told a story some time ago in Trap's forum about iodine and water.
He's a career Marine man, said he used to put a tablet of iodine in each of the water containers (I imagine they were quite large) and that not one of his men, in all the wacky places they'd ever been stationed, got ill. There's something to that. Perhaps there is some form of iodine you could get there. Is it a customs thing? I know Snakeater was stationed in Russia for some time and there are folks all over the iodine board that are in Europe and Australia. Perhaps they know something?
Yeah, I hear it's not good for ingesting. So - what's the deal with the iodine? Can you get it shipped in from another place or is this some sort of customs stuff?
Well that's basically out. I am not getting none of my meds. One company, charged on my card 4 times and messed up my line of credit so when I went to charge elsewhere, it was placed an insufficient charge and again and again again and they refuse to help me so here I sit with a visa that is closed, a balance i owe of an additional 80 dollars and no meds. So go figure. Allah does not want me to have meds.
Ok - so this is a company issue not a political issue where you can't get iodine into Jordan, right?
So does that mean that when this credit/ordering stuff cools down we could look at getting you a bottle of 2% iodine sent to you? If you weren't taking it internally, it'd last you a super long time putting it in your water. I'm just sayin'...
Woman - what is it with this wacky imbalance with not being able to order stuff and then your orders being multiplied? Sounds like some sessions of EFT could be useful. You've read that you can tap while remapping a thought process, right? I was just reading that about EFT. I need to do it. Maybe we'll both pick an issue and EFT it for the next week and see what our experiment comes up with!
YOu are crazy woman. I am telling you God does not want me to have meds. Jordan would not let it in. That's the truth. I was going to have all my meds sent to a friend who is coming here in January but I am not angry any more. At first I was and then I was shocked they would not even return five cents to me so I told them I would tell everyone what they did. So I guess that is negative talk so enough of that.
I appreciate your offer but no way Jordan lets meds in. Do you know on all the companys they will not let jordan in their list. So what I am trying to do now is go forward. I have set up a bank account in America with Boa and I am going to put a google strip on my web page and some affiliates to help pay for some of this mess I got into and just chuck it up to destiny. The web page with tony and Luella is off too so I am just staying busy. Hey that is life. I have my health, I have enough money to live on and have my 3 cats. What more could I want.
I totally hear you about God not wanting you to have more meds - that part made 100% sense, just to be clear. The part about the country vs. private enterprise part is what I was confused on.

You have to understand how Allah works, even some of the worse situations happen for the best. I am happy how things turned out. Should I not be happy with Allah's decission. I am meant to be on my own forever. hahahahha. I love my lord and I trust him so much. I wish everyone could love God the way I do and to trust him. Look, I have come a long way and now we have to go forward. I have no regrets only one is I am too trusting. But look now I have you for a friend so life could not be better than that.
I love your faith Sara! It's beautiful. I feel the same about God. God, Allah, whatever you want to call him. Thanks for this post, it was a nice reminder about just having faith. I have felt a calling for some time now to go on a journey to the other side of the world and find myself. I shouldn't let stress get to me about the little things like what vaccines to get and what not, or even money. I've always followed what I feel God is telling me to do (such as quitting this job) and it's always worked out positively for me. <33
So glad to hear that Trysten. Remember we have two angels with us. A good and a bad one. Each one is pulling us to their side. So always ask yourself is this God or the devil pulling me. When you find out the answer then you will know the real truth.
When it is God calling you, your heart will feel happy and it will be a straight path with no doubts. God will provide and you will have many hard times as he is testing you. If you result to the evils, drinking, drugs and sex, then this is the devil hoping you fail, if you resist and stay righteous God will take you to a higher level and bring you closer to him. So I wish you good flight oh one of great faith. When you have a problem, depend on him only.
