Because I have struggled with bulimia, and whenever I went on those bouts I would never lose weight. Sometimes I would actually gain. So its a struggle all for nothing. I hate it.
It's true... bulimia doesn't work. I've only ever lost weight through limiting my food intake. I don't USUALLY gain though. I just stay pretty much the same until the next bout of fasting or the next attempt to eat normally.
Bulimia is never the way to lose weight. I on the other hand have the complete opposite problem. For a year i have been eating right and exercising regularly but I have not been able to lose the weight. I ended up going back to my old habits (bulimia) and now i am dropping weight quickly. I guess you can say I am a "healthy" bulimic. If that is even possible. Some people are bulimic but they still consume a lot of calories and of course you can't , nor do you want to purge everything you eat.
Very few people ever lose weight by binging and purging. In fact, that is what makes Bulimic people so hard to catch. Unlike anorexics, they do not undergo any drastic weight changes. The only thing bulimia will do is destroy your teeth and throat. I would recommend you see a doctor or therapist. ED's are very dangerous and seeking help is the best way to start getting better. It may be tough but don't give up, new treatments for ED are coming about every day. Here is a great blog about a new treatment that just started. http://www.lifeworkscommunity.com/news/blog-wordpress/new-possibilities-for-treating-anorexia-and-obesity/
