Long story short, currently unemployed, but looking to turn over a new leaf with the new year, you know how that goes. Well, I'm looking to juice for health benefits and what not, but I am utterly confused on juicers. I've been searching around the web and there are a hundreds of juicers and thousands of different opinions. I realize I am getting more opinions, but I am looking for a practical, daily juicer to increase my health. I saw Jack Lalanne's on TV and thought it might be good. One of his off ebay is in my price range, but I was wondering if there are better/more recommended ones for the money.
the best juicers are expensive, no getting around that! The cheaper ones just don't get as much juice from veggies. I went whole hog for a champion juicer, but if I was unemployed (actually I am now LOL!) I would wait. A few people have said they liked the Jack LaLane one because it has less clean up than others.
Cheapest of all would be to simply eat more veggies! Get used to cooking/steaming/combining them in soups and such. :) Hardly anyone needs more fruit juices, really, that's just adding tons of sugar to your diet. Plus most fruit juices stress the liver. Fresh is much better than bottled, but even better is just good water and the occasional piece of fruit so you get all the benefits of fiber.
The best juicer may be the one that gets used often.
I have see the Jack Lalane juicer on TV. I don't know how good it is, but if it is all you can afford right now then go for it. If you find out that juicing isn't for you then you aren't out much money. A $400.00 juicer may give you more juice than a $100.00 juicer, so just add another carrot or piece of fruit.
The $400.00 juicer that sits under the cabinet and never gets used is really no better than the $100.00 one that never gets used.
I have been using an older juicer that I purchased at
Walmart for around seventy dollars. The name brand is Jr. Juicer. I thought I would
try a newer juicer, so after lots of research I bought a
LeEuip for around $160.00. I should have stayed with the Jr. Juicer. The other one is heavy and hard to take apart,
granted the pulp is a little bit drier, but if it's hard to
get apart and bulky, its hard for me to get motivated to
juice.
I know exactly what you mean!!! I got the recommended juicer awhile back - I think it's the Champion juicer? Very expensive but effective. My naturpathic doctor recommended it.
Anyway, it has no less than 5 plastic pieces to clean and assemble, and it weighs probably 40 pounds! I don't have enough kitchen counter space to just leave it out so ... I tend not to juice much anymore, and just buy some whenever I'm around a place that juices! LOL! geez.... :)

Champion is a great juicer, and there are lots of used ones on ebay, some as low as $20. Since these never wear out, and used one is fine. That's what I would do in your situation.
