I am 23 year old male. My dentist for 3-4 years has been telling me to get my wisdom teeth out. They cause me zero pain and I have never had a cavity. I have had to fight for this time to keep putting it off. Now they are really pushing me.
I am considering just dropping this dentist altogether. But when I see him they put so much fear into you you feel like you are going to die if you don't get them removed. Basically just hoping for some reassurance that I should not do this.
I am 41 still have 3 of my Wisdom teeth they took one out when I was 10 years old. Maybe they are called Wisdom teeth for a reason.
Don't let anyone tell you what to do we have free will and make our own choices. Just feel good about what you choose.
Dropping a Dentist that is being too pushy with you is smart. They want to take them out because they figure it will have to happen eventually so why not put that money in their pockets?

WHY DID YOU WAIT?????

OK, THEN I DON'T BLAME YOU. LEAVE THEM ALONE "IF" THEY ARE OUT AND LOOK NORMAL.

OK, TELL THEM TO SHOVE OFF AND TAKE YOUR $$$ ELSEWHERE.

IGNORE THE CREEPS, YOUR LUCKY TO ESCAPE THEM...GET AWAY AND STAY AWAY.

IF THEY DO NOT HURT, ARE NOT STUCK UNDER YOUR GUMS, LEAVE THEM ALONE
SCREW ANY DENTIST THAT THINKS THEY HAVE THE RIGHT TO TELL YOU ANYTHING...YOUR PAYING THEM, THEY DO WHAT YOU TELL THEM OR YOU FIRE THEM..IT IS THAT SIMPLE.
Stand up for yourself and don't get those teeth out if they aren't hurting. I'm 23 too and I got all my wisdom teeth out a few years ago. They weren't hurting but I just accepted it as the thing to do. Today I regret the decision and when I press my tongue against the spots where the teeth were it hurts pretty bad. I probably have developed a cavitation here or something bad. I'm not quite sure whats going on in my case but it can't be good so I hope you will learn from my errors and not get the teeth out.
To the OP: The worst thing that can happen is that your wisdom teeth can move the other teeth in your mouth around. If they don't hurt and are not impacted underneath the gums, there is no reason to remove them.
To 13mongoose: You probably have a cavitation like you suggest. The best dentist I know for removing them (and the only one I trust in general) is Dr Huggins who specializes in mercury fillings removal, cavitations, and the patients health in general. He's the only one that makes sense. http://www.hugginsappliedhealing.com/
Get his client preparation manual (or perhaps one of his books), it explains a lot.
