fruit and veggies and drink lots of clean water. Not eating is a harsh and difficult weight loss plan and as soon as you begin eating again a bunch of the weight comes right back.
I plan on maintaining and losing more weight once off the cleanse. By eating less food. I do like some veggies. I don't see how a person gains it all back if they continue to diet. I am not going back to the way I ate in the past. I have heard I will gain some back, which I expect.
Diets are not good for you and they ultimately fail. The fast will slow your metabolism considerably and when you start to eat again, your body will hold on to calories relentlessly. Your body goes into starvation mode when you fast/diet so that any calorie intake will be hard to lose. As you get older your metabolism will naturally slow down and if you add fasting to this, you just have a recipe for disaster.
Your best bet is to utilize the cleanse for what it was intended for: to clean out built up toxins, rebuild and begin to establish a new relationship with food. Also, find a healthly eating plan and to exercise. If you really want to be healthly, you have to include fruits and vegetables in your diet. They are Nature's remedy for what our bodies truly need. This will ultimately keep the weight off for good.
I have done The Master Cleanse many, many times and the only eating plan that keeps the weight off for me is being 100% Raw Vegan and exercising daily.
I need a jumpstart that is part of the reason I am doing this master cleanse. Also, my asthma has gotten worse so I was hoping this could help. Aches and pains, etc.
The cleanse will help you greatly!!!! You should be feeling alot better after the 10 days.
And, not to beat a dead horse, but there are a wealth of fruits and veggies that could do wonders for those aches and pains and rejuventate your entire body.
Oh okay. I do understand that fasting is not the way to lose weight. I have other reasons for fasting, but one is to get a jump start. So I will be psyched to start eating right, exercise, etc.
Thank you. I am wiped out, but it was because I just got home from vacation and we drove from Los Angeles to San Francisco. I think I'll sleep rather well tomorrow.
I love the way I sleep on the MC. That is one of the reasons I love doing this fast.
And a good flexible food and workout plan for after is great. It sounds like a good plan to give yourself a boost with the MC. I use it to clear my head and body about food, sharpen my senses and discernment about which foods and how much to eat. The first time I did the MC i discovered that contrary to my intent to do a program I had found my body told me in no uncertain terms that it liked food raw best of all. I was surprised and have been eating raw on and mostly off since.. I am hoping that this cleanse will enable me to have a clear raw road for a while after it is over.
But, I confess.. the best part is the calm, no food consciousness that happens for me on day four and onward. That is the real reason I do this cleanse.. it is like an old friend who helps me sort myself out.
Of course the weight loss, clarity, healing and digestive rest are all good benefits, too. grin
I am pulling for you.
I am also fasting to return to and maintain my Raw Vegan eating plan. I found out something important for me after I finished the last fast. I cannot eat ANY cooked foods. I had been fighting this realization for a year now and it was made crystal clear for me after I finished my last fast and thought that I could eat mostly Raw, but have cooked food on the weekends. NOT!
This is how the cycle has played out for me since I discovered Raw foods a year ago: I would be doing 100% Raw for about two months at a time, loving it, looking good, feeling good, losing weight and BAM, one bite of cooked food and I 1. don't want raw any longer; and 2. I spiral out of control to the point where I am ONLY craving cooked foods.
I fought the whole "cooked food addition" thing for a long time, but must finally admit that for me, I have to stay away from cooked food as if it was a drug in order to maintain my Raw Veganism. I am so psyched to have come to this conclusion and ready to embrace Raw wholeheartedly 100% after this fast. I'm loving the time away from food to contemplate my upcoming new life as a 100% Raw Vegan and the challenges and joys this will bring to my life.
Hi there,
I'm well aware of the benefits of eating raw foods and have a couple of cookbooks, but I've yet to start really eating a raw diet. It sounds like you've been able to do this for several months at a time and I was wondering if you could give me some ideas of what you might call 'staples' of a raw food diet and some items that are quick and easy to use as nourishment. Of course I know that I will need to use a good guidebook to get really into the raw eating, but I'm always curious what people enjoy and go to the most with this type of eating plan. So far my raw-ish fave is pita bread (not raw I know) with hummus, diced tomatoes and onions, mushrooms, crunchy sprouts, herb sprinkle, and some lemon juice. That's about as far as I've gotten apart from dark green salads with almonds in them.
Thanks!
I initially looked into the MC for weight loss. But I was intrigued to learn that it isn't just some crash diet. It seemed a HEALTHY thing to do for your body, so I tried it. I would say I needed to lose about 25 pounds. I did the MC last month and did 10 days. It was not as hard as one thinks, once you get past the first couple of days. The hardest part is being socialable without explaining why you aren't eating (I did want criticism from people or have to go into explanations).
I lost about 11-12 pounds (down from 175 to 163 point something on a digital scale). However, I had an expectation to put a couple back on for water weight, etc. I have been off the MC for 25 days. I have held steady at 164-165. While on the MC I craved healthy items, like salads and soups. I am a sweet lover, so this was a new concept to not even care about cookies and things like that. Since being off I haven't been depriving myself of things. I try to use portion control, make healthy menu choices, and just use overall good sense. I know my metabolism needs to rebuild. I have had occasional handfuls of M&Ms and I am a suc*** for sweet tea.
I want to make lifestyle changes so that I do not feel like I am on a diet forever. I had no adverse effects to the MC; I felt pretty good and really just had a bad headache the first couple of days and sporadic fatigue throught the cleanse that would pass.
As far as weight loss from the MC, I believe it should be a reward for desiring to make yourself better inside. I think you should BELIEVE in its cleansing and detoxing properties in order to have maximum effect. I think it does renew your mindset into WANTING to make healthy changes in your diet and in your life in general. My view is that people only wanting to lose weight quick will not have learned anything and find themselves back in the same rut in the not-too-distant future. Plus, those would be the ones that come off disappointed that they ONLY lost 10 pounds when really they wanted to lose more.
My goal is to try this about every four months for a recharge. If I can maintain my weight, then each MC should help me get to my 25 pound overall goal by the end of the year. Not too bad since I have been wrestling with a weight problem since I had my baby 2 1/2 years ago. What I like most is that this is a healthy way to lose weight, with other times focusing on exercise and making good food choices.
I just wanted to share my experience. I hope it is encouraging for you.
I know that feeling. I have told no one but my husband that I am doing this. Day 4 now and it is not really as hard as I thought it would be either. The salt water flush sure worked today. Every now and then I get a hunger growl but this is not so bad afterall. Congratulations to you for keeping healthy and keeping the weight off..
LOL. After day four you kind of build up your resistance to foods. I do think that if you are doing the cleanse for weight loss then it is not wise. I lost four pounds today alone. If you slip up after the cleanse then it may come back in sevenfold and be harder to get rid of.
Weight loss is not the only reason I am doing this. I read up on it and wanted to try it. Yes, I am trying to lose weight and figured this would give me the willpower to start a weight loss program. My breathing is noticeably better after only 4 days.
