Do you think it is necessary to test for blasto even though I know that I have it. I tested positive after taking Flagyl for blasto. I still have symptoms even though I have had about 5 negative tests in the last 3 years. I also had a roundworm 7 years ago but that didn't show up in any tests either. The labs here use a fixative and stain but aren't that good at detecting much. But who is to say that Genova is much better if the blasto is hiding in my intestines?
My symptoms subside when I take anti-parasite herbs and if I take a reasonable dose of herbs or probiotics I get a LOT of die-off so I do have something for sure. My naturopath is getting to think I don't have parasites anymore but she isn't the one with the symptoms! I think she is in too much of the standard medical thinking that if it doesn't show up on a test it isn't there....
Testing is hit or miss unless you do pcr testing. If it is blasto then flagyl or herbs are going to eradicate it, probably slow it down though. Badbugs.org is the resource for this parasite.
Did you test positive with the same lab that you have since had 5 negatives with? Sounds like a reliable lab to me. Especially if they are using fixative. Did you do 3 samples over 3 days? There ARE good labs around, contrary to what people say. (I always did samples at the full moon) Unfortunately the lab I used in the UK called Parascope has been closed down. No idea why?
I tested positive for Dientamoeba Fragilis. Took the strong antibiotics. Tested clear afterwards but continued to have symptoms. That was 4 years ago. I do anti parasitic herbs every 6 months and like you, there is some improvement in symptoms each time which, of course leads me to think I still have parasites. Until the last 2 times when afterwards symptoms have got worse! I doubt I will do them again.
It is really difficult to understand the situation. Like you, I just don't know any more. I am looking around for other solutions now which is why I am using Chinese medicine. It was very effective at the beginning but is trailing off now.
Are your symptoms related to food sensitivities? Mine are.
I tried Flagyl but it didn't work. Herbs work but have to be rotated so there isn't resistance.
Yes, it was the same lab, just our local one (in Canada), but apparently Genova in the US is much, much better. It was five separate times and I didn't do a purge or anything first. Apparently sorry, this is gross, a rectal swab, is much better at detecting them. (from badbugs.org) I haven't tried that yet.
It is confusing what you say about the symptoms continuing after treatment or getting worse after herbs. That's what is happening right now. I laid off of my parasite herbs as I was quite a bit better and my naturopath thought that I couldn't possibly have them. But I do, (stopped listening to her) cause without the herbs the symptoms come back. It seems now that the bugs are a bit stronger from all the stopping and starting. Now I am being consistent and will gradually get rid of it or not let it get to me anyway!
It's also hard to tell the difference between the blasto and die-off.
Someone who practices at a herbal pharmacy here had blasto and got rid of it by rotating remedies every five days so that the blasto did not get resistant to the remedies. Chinese medicine is great, if it is not so good anymore, maybe you have to rotate Chinese medicine with a different herb. She also said it's important to alkanize the body to make it inhospitable to parasites.
I was taking the traditional black walnut, cloves, wormwood and some other herbs (prepackaged). It worked but caused a very dry mouth. Then I stopped and now my symptoms are worse. Whatever I take (except the original tincture causes really bad die-off symptoms which mainly mean my blood sugar crashes and I get palpitations and feel very stressed out). I also have adrenal fatigue. The herbs did work, I just didn't take enough of them. The best thing is to rotate this with something else like propolis or oregano oil so you don't get resistance.
I have exactly like you still symtpoms after antibiotics. A LOT of TFT tests (four at least), during a year, were negative after these antibiotics. But... I am still as sick as before: extremely fatigue, bad bowel movements, have to diet or it'll go totally out of control with my energy, bloating and I possibly forget some of the symptoms.
my TFT tests are negative because:
1) False negative and I still have the parasites, which are in the mucous of my intestines or something. Some people test difficult for these parasites according to badbugs.org
2) I don't have the parasites any more and something else is causing this misery.
I do have candida and maybe it's the problem, but I'm thinking also of Lyme disease. Who knows? Tests are not very reliable. I have a doubtfull Lyme disease outcome of the test. And I can see the candida on my hands, so it is probably also in the rest of my body.
