I recently found a home health care worker who has started coming by and administering enemas once a week. When she came to the house I explained I had had a problem with constipation most of my life and wanted to try two or three enemas in a series. She agreed to do the enemas, and after discussing the details for a little while she recommended starting with a soapsuds enema followed by one or two plain water enemas. She also agreed to come by on a weekly basis if I felt it would be worthwile after taking the enemas.
She gave me a 1000cc soapsuds enema using a packet of castile soap, followed by two 1500cc enemas using plain water. I was wondering if it would be safe to follow the same routine every week, i.e. starting off with a soapsuds enema then doing the plain water enemas?
I had been an advocate of soapsuds enemas for years until earlier this year, when postings and e-mails from a Curezone member conviced me otherwise. I'll find those posts and refer you to them.
Meanwhile, I'd suggest changing your weekly enemas to saline solution. 1 teaspoon for each 500 cc.
As a longtime user and proponent of the traditional hospital style soapsuds enema, it was my correspondence with Ana at the following link that started me on a path where after additional research, I have totally abandoned them.
I still take enemas several times a month, but now instead of the packet of Potassium glycerin based liquid castile soap from PDI, I use Sea Salt at a concentration of one teaspoon per pint, or 4 teaspoons (1 tablespoon + 1 teaspoon) of salt for a full bag or 2000 ml bucket. I like the Baleine brand sea salt from France. It doesn't clump, even in high humidity, and pours easily into my measuring spoons.
I encourage you to read and heed the information Ana has posted at the link above. Although a year ago I probably wouldn't have believed it, I have noticed no lesser results from the salt water than the soap solution, and as an added bonus, the salt solution enables me to take the full bag with less discomfort.
Some people find that taking enemas too frequently can cause them to become "addicted" and unable to have a bowel movement naturally. I'd advise you to try the weekly enemas for no longer than 6 weeks, then try and go a month or so without.
Personally, I love enemas, so I tend to have an "enema day" once a month, when I dedicate a whole Saturday to cleansing. I think that in this way I avoid becoming dependent on enemas but at the same time don't get constipated and can enjoy the benefits of having a clean colon.
