Hmm... I've read quite a few posts about oil pulling.
One question: what kind of oil to use? I've got bleeding gums(now the bleeding is stopping), loose front teeth(only 1 so far), loss of gum, yellowed teeth, gums are making clicking sounds, etc. (click for this horror:
)
Would normal sunflower oil be suitable? And will OP help to strengthen/restore my enamel? Please, try to state specifications instead of brands 'cos chances are, they're unavailable in Singapore.
I'm also currently using ipsab powder and mouthwash(I know, should've got the concentrated version but I'll like to finish using this one first.)
Thanks! Any oil, huh? 'Cos whatever we've got in the kitchen mmm is definitely not organic or cold-pressed, just regular oil like you'd find in a normal shop. Oh well. :)
Btw, can I do it without an empty stomach? I suffer from gastric issues(going to remedy with some kefir that's on its way to Singapore) and I have to eat the minute I get out of bed or the acid from my stomach could hurt my teeth even more.
You can OP anytime, anywhere. We use to have a lot more rules, but really it's OK to use any oil at anytime. Some will find better oils and better times for themselves.
The acid reflux is a hard nut to crack. How old are you?
28 years old. :) I think there's a stomach ulcer 'cos I feel this sharp pain at times whenever I haven't eaten much and my stomach starts over producing acid. And darned antacids, my stomach got a lot worse after taking them. :(
Not food grade (it's really diatomaceous earth). Stuff is darn amazing. I have no idea if you can get that overseas...that far away!
You know, I would go over to the Truth in Medicine forum and talk about your stomach acid. The guy on there is brilliant. Make sure they know you are in Singapore though.
Yes, antacids will make a acid problem much worse. I know, I was caught in that cycle for years and years.
Thank you, dear. :) Do you recommend oral irrigation together with OP? I'm looking into getting an irrigator but will have to find one that meets my long list of requirements.
There is this amazing guy named Dr. Nara. You can get his stuff on line. He talks about acidity and teeth. I've ordered his materials and never regretted it:
Acid from the stomach, as well as lack of saliva, is the worst thing your teeth can experience. OP seems to help with the salvia production. It also seems to stimulate the liver, causing better digestion.
Good luck. Post on that other forum and see if you can get some help with that acid.
Oh cool... yep, I came across that site a few months ago. Took me a while to kinda understand a bit of the articles though. I'd wanted to buy their Viajet Pro but unfortunately, the
Just finished OPing: gods, eww... the taste of the oil is super disgusting. And darn, do my teeth really hurt while trying this.
But at the same time, it's kinda interesting... towards the end, I could feel all the bacteria coming up. :) I don't think I did the full 20 minutes 'cos my jaws started hurting... lol. Or maybe I did, I wasn't watching the time. Btw, how many weeks before I see any results?
Your teeth will start to tighten up within 2 weeks. It's amazing.
Soon you will not notice the oil......are you pulling with something like toasted oil though? Don't do that...nothing toasted or really dark. I realized that I said any oil...LOL. I take that back!
The milder the oil, the better taste wise. Pretty soon you'll get so used to it you'll look forward to doing it. Almost Zen-like.
Swish with warm Sea Salt water after, and your teeth and mouth will feel incredibly refreshed.
No idea what kinda treatment that oil has undergone. It doesn't even say on the label. Just something like: sunflower+canola oil. I think I'll get a bottle of Olive oil instead. The local budget supermarkets here do sell some... machine pressed Italian olive oil if I recall correctly. :p
Sunflower and canola is fine, really. If it's not dark and has a really strong flavor, then it's probably not toasted.
The darker the oil, the more likely it will discolor your teeth. Olive Oil has been known to do that, but some here think it's the best oil to use. It a choice you'll have to make for yourself, but it certainly will not harm you.
Well, the thing is... the oil tastes and smells absolutely horrible. Bitter or something? Is this what sunflower oil should be like? Sorry, I'm pretty bad at frying things so my family banishes me from the kitchen whenever there're some fried dishes to be done. I've no experience with oil at all. =)
Btw, just did a second round of oil pulling: hmmm... the oil that I spat out was not yellowish but foamy and white. Yes, that was after 20++ minutes or so.
Edit: oh wait, the label says "Canola + sunflower oil". Hmmm... is rapeseed really that bad?
