Result: My cataract is pretty much gone. My eyesight improved to the point that I had to go back and get my eyeglass prescription changed - what gave me 20/20 vision in late May gave me 20/15 in late August.

Wikipedia states that:
"Carnosine (beta-alanyl-L-histidine) is a dipeptide of the amino acids beta-alanine and histidine. It is highly concentrated in muscle and brain tissues."
Could a deficiency in beta-alanine and/or histidine facilitate cataracts? Or an elevated level carnosinase, an enzyme that breaks down acetylcarnosine?
I realize that it's not that simple, other factors play roles in a domino effect chain leading to cataracts, among other issues.
awesome. What I want to know is WHAT DID YOUR OPHTHALMOLOGIST SAY??? I have been working for opththalmologists for over 20 years and as far as they're concerned, what you did is impossible. I always dreaded having to have cataract surgery, even though it's fairly low risk, just the idea.... I know I will be on those drops at the first hint of one, if not before.
I was originally diagnosed by an optometrist at Lenscrafter, just getting my glasses updated. I believe his diagnosis because I'd just driven back from Palm Springs at night and had had a terrible time with halos and cloudy vision.
But when I went to the opthamologist a month later for more comprehensive tests and had been doing the supps, I think he assumed that the optometrist had over-blown the diagnosis, I only had a SMALL cataract. The vibe was the optometrist was a hack and HE was giving me the right diagnosis. That was when my vision was checked again and was 20/15.
I didn't mention the supplements but I knew my eyes had improved immensely in that month and the headlight halos were gone.
I asked him if he was familiar with the Russian studies and he said, There's no cure for cataracts.
Too bad, young guy, I guess they can't keep up on everything but this is kind of major if you're in the eyeball business.

I hadn't started the NAC drops when I saw him. I'll go back in a year and hopefully do a little happy dance in his office.

LOL! The eyeball business....! Ha. yeah, I agree, but until it makes it into JAMA or one of their specialty publications so it's "in the literature," (or a pharmaceutical rep approaches him about it), he won't take it seriously.

I hope he meant it, but more than likely he was pacifying a paying patient. I've typed more than a few thank you notes to patients in similar scenarios, and the sarcasm in their voice is apparent. Of course now they're all recommending (and some formulating their own) antioxidant vitamin combos because of a particular large scale study that finally was enough to convince them nutrition helps prevent macular degeneration. I'm biting the hand that feeds me (not in front of them clearly) when I say this, but I'd be out of a job and so would many of them if people knew they do things like take some natural eye drops to get rid of cataracts.
I will say that some things which happen in the eye are critical and probably beyond what you can heal on your own (like repairing a retinal detachment), but I'm all for avoiding invasive procedures whenever possible - and you would think your doctor would be, too. You would think.

Funny you mention lutein because everybody was crowing about it - the opto, the doc, when the 3rd nurse said, You should take... I was like, I know about it! Shaddup already!

just like with cancer, a prophylaxis of occasional pretreatment only makes good sense. why wait till its a clinical condition, let alone stage four and sent home to die after being nearly poisoned to death like patrick swayze and so many others?
I wanted to ask you if these drops sting and how long you took them before noticing a difference. Will you stay on a lower dose for maintenance? This is great news!
I noticed that they offer pet eye drops as well.
I was curious as to why my dog struggles to get away when I give him his Ocluvet drops for his cataracts...last night I tried them on myself and they sting like a m-f-er.
Yeah, a little stinging but not bad. I think it depends on the formulation - how much NAC is in it to the glycerin. You have to make sure you're getting enough NAC to be effective, though.
I've just finished the 2 little bottles they send and will probably reorder soon but not take every day like I was.
Hi, I am trying to get rid of cataract.
Raw food. Loads of anti oxidants.
Vit. B2,E and D. Bilberry Lutein and also the eyedrops.
But what really started to help are home-made drops of juice from white unions, gingerjuice and lemonjuice. All in the same amount mixed with 5 times the amount on Honey.
It stings like mad. You have to be really brave. But it works very well.

BTW, with healthy food the breastcancer that I had 3 years ago is gone as well.
I was corresponding with an eye doctor who says it is impossible to get rid of cataract without an operation.
But....they said that (but many people now know that that is a lie, that you can't cure cancer without their poison)about cancer as well....didn't they.
And I really believe that doctors really think that...they learn what they are told to learn mostly by Big Pharma...

I have used those drops for NO LESS THAN #(three) years and lots of good food, actually changed my diet to get rid of the cataract. I am nearly blind now in one eye and the other one is starting now. Those drops are extremely expensive and NEVER proven to work.
In three uears nothinig changed fot the better. On the contraire.
