Getting a proper colonic is something I've hemmed and hawed about for years as I'm unsure about the safety aspects. But one thing I've considered several times is the potential need to wear an adult diaper after getting a colonic, at least for my situation. I'm aware that colonics do not put you in a state where you have any kind of bowel incontinence but what about those of us who would take the bus or have a long drive after the colonic? Aside from having water remaining in the colon which could present itself as an immediate need to evacuate at an inopportune moment in a bus or car, frequent urination could also be a problem. I had my first bag enema last year and, since I neglected to use salt, absorbed a whole lot of water. I was urinating nearly every ten minutes for over an hour afterwards. If that also happens with a colonic, the only solution I can conceive of is to take along an adult diaper and discreetly slip into it in the bathroom after the procedure. That way, any urge to evacuate before reaching home (I myself would have a long bus ride, perhaps on two buses, to any colonic practicioner) could be handled by using the diaper. Of course it would be distasteful to do that but the alternative of an accident is worse.
Has anyone done this or considered it? I feel it's something which colon hydrotherapists should address with clients. If any client expresses similar concerns, a therapist should have a bag of diapers in the office to offer the client.
Hi Unsure - I've had many and have never had an accident afterwards. If you are concerned, talk to the therapist and ask if they have an extra bathroom you can hang around for 10-15 minutes after the session. A compassionate therapist should be happy to accommodate your needs.
I can't say that I have ever had an issue with excessive urination after a colonic, but I have on occasion passed gas afterward, and in doing so a little water was expelled. I don't know the reason for this (neither does my therapist) because I always used the closed system, so I tend to doubt air is getting in during treatment. So, in order to prevent any accidents caused by gas, I do wear Depends or similar 'diapers' (if you want to call them that) to my treatment sessions. I don't use the super absorbent maximum protection type, just the regular protective underwear. They are comfortable and descrete, and don't show at all under a jogging suit. I would not try to wear them under a dress or skirt though. I usually go for treatments in the morning and leave the house wearing Depends, and stay in them the rest of the day. They are very effective!
