Please could you remove me from receiving moderator notifications on ALL debate forums. Thank you :-)
** Edit: To all those on the debate forums who ALSO keep hitting the hide alert buttons when someone disagrees/argues with you. ** (Instead of "to all those on the debate forums") End of edit.**
You have free will to be there or not to be there. If you have something important to share, do so on the support forums. If you feel you need to defend or justify yourself on the debate forums, then you're wasting your energy because all truth is about your perception - trying to convince others to understand your point of view is impossible because everyone has their own truth.
Some of you go to the debate forums to defend your name or your truth and you know it never works, so why keep trying? Your best bet is to win an audience over on the support forums and let people decide for themselves.
You will never win everyone over. You will never have everyone love, appreciate and approve of you. So why try? It's no ones job to do any of those things, only your own. If you are happy with yourself and your information then share it with those who resonate.
Expect war on the debate forums! Expect childish tit-for-tat! Expect name calling and insane behaviour! That is what it is for! And if you are there, you are a co-creator in it all. It can't possibly happen without you.
Don't like the war? - then stay in the support forums rather than wasting moderators time with hitting the hide alert buttons every time someone doesn't agree with you or calls you names. It is to be expected!
If you want everyone to agree with you, then stay in your private forums or request a private forum, then you can hide all the posts that you don't like yourself. You can give yourself lots of ~BSAs, ~RNs, RRR, RR, R posts. You can make yourself look like the king or queen of knowledge. You can make yourself right all the time.
Don't expect myself (or other moderators) to come running to clean up your mess in debate forums, because we know that no one gets to win ... anyway, we've got better things to do!
Of course, if you enjoy the war, then the debate forums have been created just for you - so at least learn not to take things so seriously or personally. It is a place for those who either want to prove themselves right or to release anger and frustration. Whatever category you fall into, if you choose to be there, you might as well accept personal responsibilty for your part in it and have fun!
Wow you've made quite a few gigantic assumptions and generalisations about why people visit the Debate Forums .
I, for one, have found some very interesting and even sometimes useful information on the debate forums. Though there are those that disrupt and behave like spoiled children, many of the people on the debate forums manage to discuss and explore information from differing points of view, (something that is not always found on the Support Forums , where it is seen as bad form to disagree or put forward a differing opinion, from those held by the forum owner, and forum members).
A rational disscussion of ideas, (even conflicting ones) is not a war, nor do all the people who participate in those disscussions behave badly, or are on some ego trip, or looking for approval from others.
There are many, like myself who don't ask the moderators for any intervention, or complain about the behaviour of others, or expect the moderators to do anything at all.
According to the Webmaster himself in previous posting here that instead of debating with anyone and resorting to name calling, we should hit the "disagree" button or alert webmaster and mod button. This is a form of this message disgust me.
It is a way of saying this person is degrading my religion and I choose not to fight or argue. I must assume that this way is much better than debating.
the whole idea of the "support" vs the "debate" forums is that people come to curezone to find healing and info pertaining to that and arguing does not promote healing.
myself, personally, i think people take themselves way too seriously when they shouldnt and are way to easy going on themselves when they should be more serious. i believe constructive criticism and open discussion of opposing POVs can be very positive, instructional and healing. the problem then is the inability to focus, show enthusiasm and be committed without being an a**ho**. its always someone behaving in such a manner that they themselves would never tolerate. that is the great unrighteousness among us.
Apologies Spud, I meant to say: "To all those on the debate forums who ALSO keep hitting the hide alert buttons when someone disagrees/argues with you."
It wasn't meant to be addressed to everyone on those forums, although on reading back I can see how my not being clear has created that misunderstadning. I only get to read the posts I receive notifications on. And it is the same group of people over and over again. And it was to those few that my post was addressing - who for obvious reasons, I shall not name - but no doubt include the "spoilt children" you referred to.
Thanks Maya, for clearing up that missunderstanding.
I think a dose of good manners and maybe a few lessons on what a debate actually is, would go a long way to solve many of the problems seen on forums all over the internet, not just curezone. Most people posting, do so , in a mature and intelligent way, but there will always be those that use the Debate Forums as a place to vent their own frustrations.
This is quite pompous and self-rightous. You state that Debate Forums are "a place for those who either want to prove themselves right or to release anger and frustration."
There are other categories of people who visit those forums as well. I learn from them, and they push me to seek deeper reasons within myself as to why I feel and think the way I do. I find interesting discussions there, insights and points well made, often helpful in fine-tuning my understanding.
Yes indeed, immaturity abounds there as well, but I don't want to throw the baby out with the bath water. I visit those forums to learn, to share and continue to stretch my mind. The posts certainly are not fluffy and feel good stuff, not "love and light" and nicey nicey, but often interesting and helpful.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but couldn't you just have emailed the Webmaster privately? It seems to me like some kind of public display or soapbox. Why are you even posting this?? Seems like you are taking a shot at everyone who visits there, like you are above all this, like the queen of rightousness or something. Wow.
