I limit God of my understanding to love... and love doesn't dash children against rocks, stone unruly children or kill one's enemies...
For me God is the sum of all love but not just for those like me but for those not like me... Religious texts justify homicide and say God did it... but for me... when one person with a soul kills another person with a soul... they killing a piece of God... I believe this is why people will accuse whole lots of people not like them of not being human... so they can kill without remorse... and declare God the victor so they do not have to look inside to find the real killer...
I can read sacred religious texts and for me... I can discern two spirits both called God by His many names but one spirit is the spirit created by man who was murderer from the beginning and the father of lies and the other is God who is love. I can read those texts and not let them poison me with the words with a murderous spirit sprinkled into the words loving spirit. Religious books are dangerous books to read if one believes their deity kills their enemies... I would caution anyone to read any religious text with an understanding that there is a villain in most religious books and the most likely villain in most religious books is called God, Allah, Jehovah, or the God of War... I choose to cherry pick religious texts and find God who is love but I say to approach religion and its propaganda with extreme caution or your children and loved ones may be poisoned by the spirit of murder. IMHOP

They are historical documents that pre-civilized people agreed could be called an approximation of 'the truth' but even as the evolution of a being called God becoming a God who could roughly(with several exceptions) be called love in the New Testament, Revelations drags out the double minded doppelganger God.
Also why do you think so many people accept it as the word of "god."
I believe there is enough 'God=love' in the texts to provide hearers and readers spiritually trans-formative experiences as opposed to going to see a movi, theater production, old timer's yarns or reading a secular book.
Do you think that the bible then is the only spiritual texts that are the word of "god?"
BTW have you noticed the christian that replies with insults when exploring information in these threads. Look at the response just above, No informaton was explored , just personal attacks mounted.
Do a search on 108005 and you will notice an interesting pattern of continual personal attacks.
The "attack the message not the messenger" is being ignored completely. I find that it derails good discussions. I have noticed this as a trait amongst many "christians" in this forum. Shoot the messenger. Have you noticed this as well in some who claim to be christian?
IC, you are far more patient than I am, regarding continuing to explore here on this forum, via logic and sharing and explaining....sometimes needing to repeat the same ideas and concept again and again.

ic's posts have been time and again debated to his loss, that is why he needs to keep repeating the same crap, he can not defend his beliefs. All he can do is continue posting videos ridicluling Christianity (which shows the very limited understanding of the anti-Christians) and trying to say something like "Ha, Ha look at them fools, come follow me instead!" Only fools will follow your foolish and unsubstantiated belief system. He likes playing role of the victim. If there are so so ,many giving personal attacks on him, I think that goes for showing him the very nature of what his system attracts. Like attracks like.

Because it said so in the confines of a book that makes these claims some ultimate truth? Nowhere else are these claims backed up. To enter the "logic" found only in the pages of this one book requires faith and circular logic. Circular logic is a trap that spins around in circles that feeds on itself.

The Conversations With God series is but one. How do we know it is the word of god/ Well it says so in the books. ;-)
'God is love' is the word of God to me... and anything that says different is 'not the word of God.' Love is a general fondness for, loving kindnesses, awe of the natural beauty of the world, joy attached to any of the prior statements...
I think you are misunderstanding me, sorry.
Let me clarify a little more.
When I write "the Word" in capitals I mean words that are used for truth they are being written as an equivalent to God, therefore they are Capitalized because they are a Title, a name under those conditions of word-logic(redundant).
I will refer to the words collated into a bible as BIBLE(Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth). There are many teachings in the book that are Basic Instructions ti Life. They are generally true. This is a Christianity Debate forum so I assume I can bring up the BIBLE. That seems pretty logical.
How do we know if anything is the truth?
