I thought of some reasons why marijuana is illegal...
1. An excuse to keep a powerful Police State, give more power to the government and thus control over the masses in all other areas of life.
2. To keep alternative medicines out of the hands of the masses and to keep Big Pharma more profitable.
3. Marijuana mellows the masses from working too hard, makes them more peaceful, and gives them ideas about how they are being oppressed (alcohol and cigarettes make the masses work harder, create more conflict, and cope with being oppressed).
4. An excuse to keep Hemp from being used in place of the patented profit making textiles and petroleum based products like plastics created by Big Oil.
5. To keep the "peace movement" from gaining ground. War and conflict is much more profitable.

everyone is not like you and cannot be trusted to make the right decisions. people start to take things sometimes without knowing the consequences of their actions until it's too late. not everyone googles the dangers or benefits of things, 'they just do' because they see others doing things so they think it's ok. there have been times when I was getting ready to do something only to find that it may not be in my best interest so i was stopped and glad i was. we are not privy to all the information out there about things and substances, so it is best sometimes to have regulators. you say you want to make your own decisions..fine. what about a man that says he desires to kill, should we allow him to make his own decisions? if we let you make all of your own decisions then we would have to do it for all because that is only fair. letting everyone make their own decisions is catastrophic imo.
79767 everybody does make their own decisions anyway. They also must accept the consequences of those decisions. If a person wants to kill another being, decides to kill another being, they will, there is nothing you can do. As a society all that can be done is punishment after the act, hoping that this will deter others from making the same decision.
Laws do not give people morals, moral behaviour comes from an individuals own conscience.
Alcohol is a 'legal' drug, but I choose not to abuse it because the health effects of doing this, are not in my best interest.

Alcohol is legal and is far worse than marijuana according to many scientific studies. Even coffee causes a number of driving accidents each year although it is seldom reported as a factor. Heavy coffee drinkers are more likely to weave in and out of trafic during rush hour.
As for dummies, several of our founding fathers used not only marijuana but also opium and some even used cocain. This is a main reason that the 9th Amendment was included in the Constitution.
From appearances, your claims are based prejudice, lack of knowlege and understanding, and a lack of concerns for the rights of others.

The rights of an individual end when they impose on the rights of someone else. The use of marijuana does not directly impose on the rights of others. For this reason, it is constitutionally leagl in the US.
All of that aside, I do not promote the frequent use of marijuana because I believe that people should be productive and marijuana can interfer with that. Otherwise, we all need to take additional vacations and how else can you take a trip without leaving the farm. Personally, I would rather travel, see and do things

Actually, you are misled. There have been cases won but are often not publicised. It is legal for certain religeous followers to use peyote and/or mescaline. This is basically kept from the public. Also, just because a court says so, does not make the court right either way. There have been court decisions passed that defy the constitution because of either personal or political agendas. Additionally, those who failed, just hired the wrong lawyers. Only 1 to 2 percent of attorneys in the US is capable of handling a constitutionally based case.

Sorry, not illegal everywhere. There are even dumber people who do not use some of these things. I have known drunken rednecks who killed or injured people driving intoxicated. They are right there with you and their opinions are definitely based on ignorance.

There is nothing funny about it when innocent people die to something like this. Caffein can be just as addictive and dangerous as some other drugs. For you to deny it is a sign of pure ignorance.

This is another perfect example of ignorance. There are many people who have used marijuana and do not get addicted. Actually, very few get addicted, but I do know one person who probvably was addicted. It is less addictive than caffein. Apparantly, all you do is read 100 year old propoganga.

There are sugar addicts, sex addicts, gambling addicts, tobacco addicts, food addicts, pornography addicts, computer addicts, video game addicts, work addicts, exercise addicts, tv addicts, alcohol addicts, caffein addicts, popcorn addicts, and even cinnamon addicts and clove addicts according to the FDA and other government agencies.
What you and some others do not get, is that it is not necessarily the substance, it is the individuals that have what is known as an addictive personality effect. Their addiction just happens to be the substance of preoccupation of their choice. Yes, some substances such as heroin are more addictive due to their nature, but even then, not everyone who uses them gets addicted.
Over 50 percent (60 percent according to some sources ) of the US population has tried matijuana, so what percentage is addicted? What percentage of these is unhappy?
Regardless of what you want, and regardless of what the courts say, we have certain un-alienable rights and that includes the right to choose our path through life as long as we do not deny someone else of their rights in the process. This is known as free-will and is God given.

To agree or disagree is a right, a part of the right to choose. To call names or otherwise inflame is not a right because it is injurious to others. Ones rights end when they trespass on the rights of another.
