I'm convinced I wouldn't be alive today if I hadn't discovered (with huge thanks to V, W, T, and N) the incredible benefits of supplementing with potassium iodine/dide solution.
1) Without gaining any weight, and while still severely underweight, regained my periods.
2) Arthritic symptoms, hands and fingers spasms/cramps GONE
3) Leg spasms, muscle spasm (incredible cramps - disabling) GONE
4) Light sensitivity GONE
5) Thought process greatly improved
6) Hair loss GONE
7) Probably most important - inability to swallow (even fluids) MUCH BETTER
8) Intense anxiety MUCH BETTER
9) Shortness of breath BETTER
10) Tachachardia GONE
That's the short list. Many other benefits which would be difficult to describe or are so far gone now I simply forget the affliction remedied. Didn't "cure" me -- but my case is pretty complicated/unusual. Not a simple Candida in the gut issue.
I was actually forced to suspend my use for a good period of time. (Hospitalized, and when released I promised to stay on the wagon). I was taking in a pretty high mg level daily, and knew it was helping. But MD's at Johns Hopkins told my family I was killing myself with it. (Wrong-O, nimwits).
FInally began using again only a couple months ago. But not nearly as much as I had the first year/two. I should probably amp it up, but somehow slips my mind -- got out of the routine somehow, focusing on other approaches.
I should add that the benefits increased dramatically when I included IP6 powder to the cocktail. (I put both Lugols and IP6 t in my decaf iced coffee)
LugolIodine is a mix of iodine and potassium. Potassium deficiency will cause an higher back shoulder blade pain. It is my indication to adjust the potassium intake I need.
I've been thinking about supplementing with Iodoral but I'm hesitating because of all the conflicting reports. It's something I haven't made up my mind about.
I know that before the invention of anti-fungals like nystatin, doctors only used Iodine. There is no better anti-fungal than Iodine. Maybe the body depletes itself of Iodine because all the iodine is used to fight of the candida?
Wonderful to read it made such a great improvement in your battle Cora! Never heard of IP6, but after googling it, found that it's an extract of rice bran. It's basicallly phytic acid, am I right?
May I ask how much IP6 do you take and do you take it on an empty stomach as suggested? My bottle of Jarrow formula says to take 1-6 500mg a day.
I'm a snacker and I do not like to eat big meals so my stomach is only verifiabley empty one time a day and I prefer to take Chanca Piedra at that time or if I start taking it again serrapeptase.
Have you had success if taking it say 1 hr after eating something light like fruit?
I don't like mixing herbs or supplements that are not known to mix because I don't know if they will be competing for the same places of assimilation.
its more effective in combination with inositol, per Dr. Samshuddin. He's got a patent on the combination last time I checked, and those respecting Jefferson's contribution to the Constitution relating to advancement in the scientific arts will buy the bottle with Samshuddin's license or name on the bottle, and go with his recommendation since he'd studied the matter extensively.
Next step is to understand the mechanism for the synergy, which leads to further enhancement by inclusion of appropriate cationic species and carboxylates.
One cannot convey in words what most would consider un-believable, but suffice it to say, that I don't need a plane ticket.
table salt with Iodine is ablsolutely NOT a good source of iodine. It isn't iodine, it is iodide, and the amounts are so insignifigant and vary from brand to brand or even from batch to batch, it is only enough to prevent goiter. The bare bare minimum. Anybody on Curezone or thinking holistically should be using Sea Salt or something besides that processed table salt anyway!
The poster that you mentioned also thinks sea salt is poison or contaminated..something to that extent.
Here's the gist: Sea Salt = mercury, other heavy metals, whatever the hell else was in whatever polluted water they evaporated it out of
Iodized table salt = no heavy metals, additional Iodine supplement
...not a very difficult call, if you ever stopped to think about it instead of buying into marketing.
As to there not being enough iodine in it, yeah, it's nowhere near enough at first glance, though more than you would think... why? Candidiasis sufferers are also generally sodium deficient, which is further made worse by the fact that you're drinking insane amounts of water (if you aren't - you should be). YOU NEED TO EAT MORE SALT ANYWAY. It is good for YOU (bad for your neighbour, bad for your dog, bad for your kid... GOOD for you).
