eh..maybe not.
while dinking about with Potassium Hydroxide and skin samples in search of the elusive fungi..
it occured to me to see if blood and the everpresent "blood" leaking from the leg lesions..is the same. I have my doubts that the lesion "blood" is all blood. Too many pics of lesion blood LOADED with particles. That many particles in the bloodstream should result in severe clogging of capillaries..arteries and veins..I should think.
Something is amiss here.
The KOH is at hand..lets collect a mess of "blood" from a lesion..and see what happens. Sounds like fun?
...ah..here is a cooperative leg lesion. Even though I
am not focused on them, you can detect some of the suspicious particles oozing to the surface.
Always seems to be a surprising amount of blood from the
lesions..especially the old ones. Is it really all blood?
Or..something else going on? Pigmented fluid perhaps?
Will see if the reaction with KOH yields any clues.
Will mix lesion "blood" and "clean" blood from a fingerstick with KOH [potassium hydroxide] in a water solution; measured pH 12.4.

here is one of the two types of material that resulted when mixing the lesion blood with the KOH. This one is red..well..we are mucking about with blood. Red is..expected.
Here is the other resulting mass when mixing lesion fluid with KOH; a green yellow mess. Ok..what is what?

Ok...time for a "clean blood" sample...not from a suspiciously dirty lesion..but from a fingerstick.
Sample of blood was about ten drops..from an overzealous
finger stick.
Odd. only the yellow green mass. No red at all. The
red blood drops instantly dissolved upon contact with the KOH..and clumped up as ..what you see here.
So..the red mass formed by lesion fluid in KOH is not blood at all..since "pure" blood only creates the yellow green mass. The red mass..is not blood. So what is it?
Pigmented gels?..morg particles?..something else?
..find one clue..many more questions surface.

Potassium Hydroxide (KOH) Preparation for Identification of Fungi
Fungi are seen in clustered round buds with thick walls accompanied by fragments of mycelia. Scrapings from the affected area of the skin are mounted in 10 percent KOH for positive laboratory diagnosis.
Demonstration of the fungi in infected tissue can be accomplished by the following method:
1. Place skin, hair, or nail scrapings from the affected area on a slide and add a drop of 10 percent KOH. Dissolve 10 g of KOH in 100 ml of distilled water.
2. Place a coverslip on the preparation.
3. Warm the preparation gently over a flame, being careful not to boil it, and allow it to stand until clear. Do not allow the preparation to dry out.
4. Read preparation, using a high-power objective with subdued light.
* Fungi in the skin and nails appear as refractile fragments of hyphae.
* In the hair, fungi appear as dense clouds around the hair stub or as linear rows inside the hair shaft.
Haven't a clue if this would find anything in blood. But, it will find fungus from skin etc.

I could have been more clear about what I meant by:

The "dinking" translates to using a modified KOH skin test.
I've been using the KOH on skin technique for quite a while
to sort through clumps of goo...to find what is in them.
Posted pictures in the FHW pic file back in..April..
testing hair samples with KOH...and posted some unexpected
results when adding KOH to urine. [white "parfait".]
To speed the "quick look" along, I dont find it necessary
to "fix" the sample with heat onto a slide..just pluck the
curious blob..drop into petri dish..a few drops of pre prepared KOH solution..swish..drop the hand held camera
onto dish and take a look. aha!..another fiber in that mess. So far I have not found anything other than the
accursed fibers. Nothing really novel has shown up yet.
Just..fibers..all colors. Will post this mornings "quick look" of a blob from a leg lesion. As usual..another bunch
of fibers..buried in morg particles.
[particles assembling fiber?...fibers attracting particles?] Hmmm...a Pretty blue
fiber this morning. I think that means it might rain today.

the object above was just a blob of gunk. a few seconds
of the "dinking"[dunking] technique reveals much with little time lost.
The post was really about the strange result of KOH on skin
lesion blood vs fingerstick [clean] blood.
It appears that much of the "blood" [red fluid] in the
lesions is NOT blood. Clean blood in KOH yields only
the yello/green goo...not red goo.
The lesion "blood", on the other hand..generates two kinds of goo.
yellow green..AND red..and the red goo does not appear with clean
blood reactions. Which seems to support my suspicions..
that not all the red fluid in a lesion is blood. There is
something else in play in the lesions. I suspect it is the
red pigmented particles/gels..in a more "liquid" state.
more experiments required..

If that's been dissolved in KOH, it looks positive for fungus to me.
Most of the fibers in Morgellons probably are fungus or fibrosis generated by the body in response to a foreign object.

...OTOH...send off a morg biopsy to some
PhD pathologist ..results are negative for
fungus. [PAS stain]

be 600 dollars please.
..gee..thanks doc..I'll try to stay away from those
fiber inducing mosquitos.
meanwhile..back at the ranch..two skin docs insist
that since the damage is not due to fungus..it's self inflicted. [..showed the head honcho derm doc pics
of the the biopsy sutures over run with fibers...made
zero impact. [ dont you hate it when the Photoshop
weirdos visit?].
...digs out path report..
diagnosis: epidermal necrosis and ulceration suggestive of insect bite left forearm.
comment: PAS stain is negative for fungus whereas the control shows numerous mycelia within the cornified layers.
microscopic description: Sections of tissue show a normal thickness of the epidermis with moderate basket weave hyperkeratosis. Within the center of the specimem the epidermis is necrotic and replaced by inflammatory membrane with underlying acute inflammatory cells.
A moderate number of the inflammatory cells are eosinophils. The inflammatory infiltrate has a diffuse interstitial distribution and extends to the deep dermis.

docs feel content to dismiss any possibility of fungus
since the PAS stain test was negative.
I submit that the morg's fibers may in fact be
part fungus..they act like fungus..grow like fungus,
dissolve skin like fungus..grow mycelia
as fungi do...but for some reason do not trip the PAS stain test as "positive" for fungus.
I got the strong impression that the skin docs just wanted me out of there ASAP...any excuse will do. "oh look..failed the stain test..well..there you go..not a fungus..you're digging all those lesions." The senior
skin doc was so thoughtful.."won't charge you for this "follow up visit" ..when I was showing her the
fibers on biopsy sutures..[of course you aren't going to
charge for this visit..officially this face to face
never happened..right doc? Nothing in writing...no
troublesome paper trail leading to you...much less any
course of action to deal with the fibers..that dont exist...because you dont "see them". Seriously..what sort of dermatologist dismisses a case without so much as breaking out a magnifying lens? or a Woods lamp..or a skin
scrape test..nothing needed here but five seconds of staring at the damage with unaided eyes..and hands me
a bunch of phone numbers for local psychiatrists..to get
an Rx for mind bending drugs. Make everything so much better. [TWO docs do the same thing..their prejudiced
opinion is all they need. No Science needed.]
&&&&..and the docs call the Morgs folks "delusional".
The docs are clueless...and won't take any initiative
that would put them crosswise with their AMA overlords.

Stay away from the docs on this, just a waste of money. Hell you could of bought a good ozone generator for that kind of money. Then you could have bagged and ozonated those bad boys. They can't take the ozone. Your money is better spent on vitamin C, iodine, food grade h202, and CS. The doctors are a waste of time. Lord help you if they decide to treat you, lucky if you get out alive. Just my experience.
