A friend of mine has been without her menstruation for over a year now, after going off of birth control (the pill).
She is 20 years old, seemingly healthy (seemingly) and of course, when she had her doctor do an analysis, the blood work said that her hormones were "normal", so she asked her doctor what the problem was. To which the doctor responded with "I don't know, but we'll just put you on the pill to regulate it".
I am thankful that this young lady knew better than that and wants to know were to go from here.
I know that hormones are still a great mystery, even in the great world of naturopathy, homeopathy and the like (seriously, we all know about iodine, etc, etc, but there is sooo much to the balance of the endocrine system that it boggles my mind), so, I wanted to probe around here for possible help.
I am sending her to my health clinic that works in reflexology to regulate and balance out the body, but until then, I needed to get some general ideas from this knowledgeable forum.
I didn't have my period for almost two years after a depo shot. It will take time. All my tests kept coming back normal. The doc even tried to "jump start" me into a period, and that didn't even work. Birth control is BAAAAAAD!
She will just have to let her body come back to it's own naturally. Low stress is key, as stress steals away what's needed to regulate female hormones.
I'm about to buy the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler. Just reading through the reviews on Amazon it's amazing to see how many women have been helped by the information in this book. It's not just about fertility but about knowing how your body works. Check it out and see if it's something your friend might find helpful: Link
Well, she hopped onto the boat and took the pill :-(
I really wish she hadn't.
I wish I could save the world and knock sense into people, even if it was one person at a time, but when everyone is so brainwashed, it's hard to erase their thinking.
