I've always considered garlic good, i placed it on my acne as a teenager, i swallowed some to help clean GI, and i put it on bites, and i heard it was anti-cancer.
Then I watched a video of Dr Beck, that talked about colloidal silver and blood electrification. He said to not eat garlic at all, that garlic kills brain cells, slows down cognition and thus people that eat a lot can be hot-headed/easily agitated.
So is garlic good or bad for me (my blood, GI, brain, skin/hair, mind)?
I was surprised either when I heard dr. Beck comments about garlic. If that was true I would have empty brain by now because I was eating garlic since I was kid. And I work with my brain :) Garlic is know to be great since thousands years
so no questions about it.
BTW, Beck died relatively young so I wouldn't be so sure about everything he was saying...
interesting...i thought he promoted it for its pro-good bacteria qualites....good to know.
i still think garlic is ok....and the brainwave things is probably a detox effect. Although im sure too much of anything is bad. spinach has niteshades yet im not gonna promote not eating it.
I have understood garlic to be somewhat of a "Super Food". I can help everything from weight loss to fighting off infection. I know little about the doctor that you mentioned, but most doctors are not researchers and they actually are not very health and nutrition Savvy. There are natural practitioner physicians that specialize in treating ailments through natural methods. If you are uncertain about the use of garlic, you may wish to look up one of these people and ask them. I am sure that they would be happy to speak with you.
If I recall, the Beck literature that advises against the use of garlic was in the context of anecdote and for " military uses ". Beck said the military forbade its pilots from flying if they had consumed garlic within (if I recall correctly ) 24 hours prior to a flight. Given that context coupled with the fact that Beck did not really clarify the exact nature of this " cognition problems ", is this valid reason for the average person to avoid garlic? My opinion is an emphatic no ESPECIALLY since most of us average people will never be on missions flying military craft or the like. Also bear in mind that there is a difference between raw and cooked, both of which can be used for culinary purposes, and if I was to have serious suspicions with garlic it would be with cooked garlic, not raw.... but did Beck ever clarify which ( or both ) forms of garlic he said not to eat because of cognition problems?
On the overal, even given the element of mystery to this work I was somewhat fascinated with Beck's work / literature in this respect ( zapping / electrification, colloidal silver, etc) especially on his version of zapper. I still have a silver puppy...and I'll be darned, I have never been able to find anyone to give me a good explanation as to why I develope a rash after doing even very short courses of " electrification " at the radial pulse point. After only 2 or 3 days of such, I always get a rash that ends up looking something like poison ivy...... ? The closest I've ever come is one person on a different forum suggested this might happen if I don't have enough water in me.
Garlic is good.It is used in many natural cure processes of general and specific diseases such as cold, tooth pain etc. Its used differently for different purposes.
Anyone who goes mental after a dose of raw garlic, it's because your intestinal parasites don't like it, start to die, and give off toxins which go to your brain. Garlic is GOOD.
Also - I disagree with a lot of Beck's teachings. I think colloidal silver and zapping are harmful. I've tried them both, by the way - used the Silver Pulser, made colloidal silver, ozonated water, etc. I'm not sure about the ozonated water but think that ozone in the air can be very harmful to the lungs.
I wonder, too. I've gotten into the habit of eating a LOT of garlic!!! A little raw and a lot cooked.
Here's an article saying there was a study showing it is good for the brain, contrary to the claims you are referring to. Andreas Moritz , "Amazing Liver Flush" guy, says Aruveydic and other ancient systems say "NO garlic." Haven't checked that out yet.
There are so many studies showing garlic lowers cancer rates and kills cancer cells... but the argument against says it kills good bacteria and healthy cells...
Would sure like to see some more on both sides of this!
