Dr. Crandell is a Yeast Specialist who I found on the Candida Posts. At first I was skeptical, (there are so many promises for cures.....) but I found that what I had, (unique) was EXACLY what she has found and described and treated. I was absolutely floored by her description of "intercellular" vaginitus which was describing my stymtoms to a tea. and I was getting NO HELP from anyone. Jorge on the boards encouraged me to look into her further, which I did. I ordered her packet, and it's a lifetime's wealth of information based 100% by scientific facts. She's a PHD scientific researcher and yeast specialist. She studied yeast her whole life and suffered for 30 years and now promotes people to get the necessary care they deserve which most doctors won't give because they don't see yeast as a problem. Her packet is overwhelming to me, it would take a lifetime to learn it all, but little by little she is helping me to get the proper course of treatment. I've done 2 phone consultations with her and now my gynocologist wants to learn from her as well. They will talk as well. It's truly amazing. yet overwhelming as well.
Thanks for all the information. I ran out of the Nature's Sunshine Candida Clear, so I haven't been fighting the yeast for a few days and the yeast infection is better, not cured. So, what you said makes since. I'm stilling doing the diet with a few breaks in diet with carbs. I don't have the $100 to buy the candida clear right now, but when I get enough I'll buy two boxes and do the diet for a whole month again.
Gibby, that is very interesting. What symptoms od you have from the candida? Im curious because I have been having alot of problems and feeling very ill...biggest problem is abdominal pain and weight loss at this point.I did test positive for +2 candida which means"light".I think there is something else going on apart from the candida..what do you think?
Gibby, have you had any medical tests to prove you have candida? Not that I don't believe you, but that most Doctors are unconvinced of the existence of this syndrome. I've had a stool sample that showed yeast overgrowth, and I'm also waiting(Been waiting for over 6 weeks!) for the results of my sputum culture to see what's in my lungs. I know Dr. Crandall recommends a blood test. And what treatment are you following?
Sky12, sorry, didn't see your post back to me.
I'm following Dr. Crandell's advice. I can't tell you how confusing the whole mess is. There are so many programs out there about candida cures. OMG, the last one I inquired about has sent me informative emails for 10 days,.....with great info, but just not now.
Long story short, I did the natural route for over a year, battling yeast. I worked with a natropath who finally sent me on to a doctor who would prescibe long term antifungals. I had tried it all, believe me. I had vaginal yeast, intestinal yeast, stool tests, u name it.
I was on ketoconzole for one month straight, and got rid of my intestinal yeast. But the vaginal yeast was there, just in a "dormant" state. this is why I went with Dr. Crandell. I had something that was so so wierd, I kept going back to my gyno with this itch, and he kept telling me I was Normal, cultures normal, everything was normal. /But the vaginal itch got worse and worse. Jorge on here told me about Dr. Crandell, and described to me what was going on, which was what she was saying happens. I was amazed that that was me!!! So I had to go with her. I ordered her info packet, (a life's worth of information-belive me, it's powerful and overwhelming but 110% thourough of how you need to go about your treatment.)
I fired my gyno and took a chance on a new gyno. She's wonderful, found evidence of yeast, and now has consulted with Dr. Crandell and they have a treatment plan for me. I am amazed that my gyno was open to someone elses knowledge and experience because my kind of yeast is not the normal persons. I am hoping it all works. I have tried everything, and been itchy for way to long with nothing working.
I Have been dealing with hemorrhoids and colon cleansing for a while -mainly by using dietary measures and coffee enemas, with some success. But recently I still got a lot of itchiness and was wondering whether I had yeast infections or not. I tried grapefruit seed extract as a home remedy as mentioned in quite a helpful site on yeast infections, and felt some difference but I am impatient for change so went to see a naturopath today. He said rather than pay for a candida test (which you could order online apparently) I should make an appointmnent and he would do a urine test and other tests to identify properly what was causing the itchiness. So I agree with the comment that you should confirm the presence of a yeast infection first, before going to expense taking different things.
You might want to read Stephen F. Olmstead, MD - Life on the Edge - The clinical implications of gastrointestinal biofilm. He describes how Candida grows in the epithelial tissues protected by a biofilm. The meds have to penetrate the biofilm to kill the Candida. His treatment involves attacking biofilm with an enzyme mixture, using pre and probiotics and an antimycotic which kills yeasts. The way I read the article it seems a person could use Candida herbs instead of the antimycotic.
I used a herb mix (Kroeger's), Neem, tried to avoid sweets amd was on the SCD at the time. Candida symptoms are gone. I may have had another yeast - Saccharomyces, which is released when Tapeworms are killed ( Hulda Clark ).
I had symtoms of vaginal yeast ever since I started heavily parastie cleansing. Dr. Crandell says that I still got it from antibiotics, which I really haven't had that much of, like one every 5 years......I was always told on here it was because of parasites that you get the yeast, they suck up all your nutrients, therefore creating an imbalance...
Vaginal yeast, itch, discharge. on and off with me treating from diflocan, 1 pill, here and there, to heavily treating by home treatments....1 year ago, it was so bad, but I was treating with vinegr/water douches daily, then swithed to boric acid suppositorys', for months and months. Itch slowly came back and when I went back to my gyno, he said, NO YEAST is seen!!! Kept me wondering what the heck for months. He gave my hydrocortezones, and told me "discharge will cause itch" and I said, NO WAY!! Kept going back to see if it was yeast. He never found yeast in cultures/swabs....finally it was so bad this October, I fired him and finally found another gyno. She this time found yeast on the swab, but culture came back negative. Jorge here on the forum told me what I had. and to look into Dr. Crandell. So, I did, and ordered her packet. What they described is exacly what I have, it's when the yeast lies dormant underneith the skin. It's inactive. That is why the cultures all came back normal. But it's there and still itches. No discharge!!! Nothing, just maddning itch. My new Gyno put me on Diflocan, every othr day, and Teraconozole cream every night. Dr. Crandell helps people to get treated properly for yeast infections and shows you exacly step by step how to go about it. My gyno is interested in speaking with her!!! So, bottom line, if I'm not on the antifungals for long term now, it will come back. I'v had this way to long. After about 1 1/2 weeks, I'm starting to feel a lot better, but need the medication. The diet reallydidn't help me that much. I have cut out sugar completely, and eat really healthy..but its extremely complicated and overwhelming. I don't have gastro symtoms, at all, but still have a rectal itch. Dr. Crandell thinks I have a yeast allergy and I need to gt the proper test for it. It's not easy to get though. So, in a nutshell, I have an "intercellular" type yeast. It's gone deeper in the vaginal tissues. I had it in my gut, but seems to have cleared. No other symtoms.
Antifungals kill off fungi and yeasts and are not directed toward killing bacteria. Probiotics are bacteria which grow in the intestine - Lactobacillis and some other spore forming bacilli(rod shaped). Usually the living bacilli are present in the Probiotic but if they die off the spores left behind will grow more organisms.
