Two weeks ago I rented two books from the library, Dr. Mom II and School of Natural Healing, that have "changed" my life forever. I've always felt the body could heal itself if given the right tools but I never knew what to give it so it could do it effectively. I am eternally greatful for reading your book. As soon as I completed it, I ordered some herbal combinations for our family. You see, like you it appears our family tends to go through some series of unfortunate events. My son at age 5 had surgery for a hydrocele, my daughter fought diarrhea for a year and a half before I threw in the towel on the doctors that were trying desperateley to draw blood from a toddler who was so dehydrated that they couldn't to run more tests when a nutritionist at a health food store took 30 minutes to explain some dietary changes and from that day on has been fine (dairy allergies) to the most recent my husband at the young age of 34 suffered a heart attack at work Jun 24, 2010. I have been by their sides through it all relying heavily on medical doctors to make wise decisions regarding my family's health. Hopefully that will change in time as I learn more. Anyway, enough with the background. The reason I'm writing you is that I just found out I have a few problems as well and I was wondering if you could offer some advice. Friday I went to the chiropractor regarding some neck pain and headaches I've had for over 15 years. He took x-rays and discovered the top vertebrae in my neck (c2 and c3) were fused together and instead of having a healthy c curve in my neck mine actually went straight up and then forward (cervical kyphosis). This has been quite painfull and the headaches are debilitating at times but I'm not one that gets pushed over easily. I have a beautiful family that relies on me too much for this to become a bigger issue. Is there anything you could recommend me doing or trying. I am aware there probably aren't any quick fixes and I'm willing to do any work that is required. I just honestly didn't know where else to turn. Thank you so very much for your time.
Hi there! sorry you have this. I have the same thing. Reverse curve, c1-4. You need to stick with chiropractic care. Its structural in nature and the headaches are referred pain. The headaches can be managed with chiroractic care. Theres not much else to do. Chiropractic, PT and maybe keep yourself getting plenty of vitamins. Keep as healthy as you can, which will help your body deal with this condition. Theres no magic bullet with this. Please keep after this, because if you dont, your body will start to compensate putting more stress on other joints of the body as you age. You will come like a mis-aligned car. Hope you feel better!
I am thankful if something I have said or done in my life has helped to make your life better and I appreciate you sharing this with me.
The fused vertebrae and lack of curvature are putting extra stress on the nerves which extend out from the central nervous system. This, in turn, causes inflammation of the nerves, tightening of the muscles and restricted blood flow - all of which contibute to the headaches. Therefore, along with continuing to see a good chiropractor, I would use exercises to strengthen and tone the neck, shoulder and lower back (this is still the foundation) muscles which will help to make them less likely to cramp and spasm. Then I would use cayenne ointment or something like the sensei ointment to increase circulation and relax the muscles. There are also many essential oils which can help with relaxation, such as Lavendar. Internally, cayenne and ginger will help to increase circulation. When you feel the headache beginning, a soak in a hot tub and some chamomile tea can stop it before it gets a good hold.
