I am a 33 year old woman who has had issues with SVT(heart arrythmia) in the past. I had ablation surgery for it 6 years ago and I thought it was gone for good. Since then I have had spasms in the stomach solar plexus area which cause intense anxiety for me and I can't figure out what it is. I feel like my heart skips and I feel faint. Any idea what this could be??
I had spasms which I thought was a heart problem but turned out to be strong upper intestinal spasms due to having undiagnosed gluten sensitivity. I have both Celiac Disease and non-celiac sprue (Leaky Gut Syndrome) Not only was I sensitive to gluten (wheat, barley, rye) but had several food allergies and intolerances, several parasites, many gallstones, Candida/yeast overgrowths and bacterial overgrowths in the intestine. After I went on a gluten and cow's milk free diet the spasms decreased in intensity and sometimes I couldn't feel them at all. Constant anxiety was a problem as well as mood swings, depression. A variety of problems with gluten are described at The Gluten Syndrome website and the information pages at Celiac.com.

What you are referring to is sinoventricular tachycardia. The reason they would have done the ablation of the muscle is to destroy the area in which the ectopic pacemaker is located. I explain ectopic pacemakers here:
My recommendation is to try magnesium malate first. Magnesium is a natural calcium channel blocker, so it will help increase blood flow through the coronary artery decreasing or eliminating the ectopic pacemakers. Both the magnesium and the malic acid will also elevate adenosine triphosphate (ATP) levels, which is what fuels the cells of the body and helps them to function properly. The heart is highly dependent on sufficient ATP levels, which is why CoQ10 is also used for heart problems. Recommended dose of magnesium malate is 300mg three times daily. Do not take this with calcium.
The herbs coleus forkkohlii will also help, especially if combined with nettle leaf or watercress. And one other herb that works great for arrhythmias is arjuna.
Yes, it is Supraventricular tachycardia that I was diagnosed with.
Right, supraventricular means above the ventricles, which would put it in the atrial tissue. There are different forms of supreventricular tachycardia depending on exactly where the origin is at. This can the SA node, resulting in sinoventricular tachycardia or it could originate from an ectopic pacemaker, which I explain in my other post.
When i saw the title, i immediately knew what this was. I used to refer to these as "stomach jolts". It feels like electric spasms or sensations that go off in the gut, you feel like a minor drop (almost like a small rollercoaster drop if you know what I mean) followed by heart palpitations and possible arrthymias within a second or so. This is leaky gut period.
I dealt with this over a year and did not know what the hell it was and referring to it as "Anxiety" will totally screw you over by doctors, integrative or not. It definitely gives you anxiety and you feel like fainting and just vfeel like you cannot take any stress. It is related to the adrenals but the cause is damage to the gut, AKA leaky gut. I am know able to know this very distinctly because much of my symptoms have been managed quite stably and noticed most recently that anything i take that irritates my leaky gut, such as antifungals at burn a hole in my gut (SF722 AKA undecylenic acid, caprylic acid, oregano oil, digestive enzymes, etc.) irritate and increase the inflammation in the gut and it causes these spasms along with the adrenals kicking in full force.
If you think about it, the GI tract is a very very big thing for the adrenals to quell (in terms of inflammation) as it starts from the tongue down to the rectum and it is said to have its own nervous system along with production of pretty much everything that our body needs, such as neurotransmitters, hormones, etc. Mine went from unbearable and not being able to ride in a car because of constant heart palpitations, or being able to watch Toy Story (wtf right?) to being much better and only reacting to stress. Still is there and to me, it means my leaky gut needs work. Antifungals that dont aggravate my LG are hard to come by but it is the first step to healing.
Oh wow! Thank you so much because I have suspected leaky gut but did not put the two together. I also was tested for Candida about a year ago and had a high IGA level. I tried to treat it with holistic meds but I cannot seem to get rid of it so I went to the doctor and they gave me Nystatin. I haven't took it yet but I am so tired of feeling this way that I will try anything at this point. Do you have any ideas how long it takes LG to heal. I have been taking MSM and it seems to help my skin but brings on these attacks like crazy. I called an ambulance a week ago and feel extreme panic when this happens. Thank you so much for your post. I am going to do more research on this!!
I made this post in 2010. It is 2012 now and I wanted to update how I remedied this problem. I have been gluten free for over a year now and there are 3 teas that I drink like medicine:
In the morning:
Traditional Medicinal Organic Licorice Root Tea (1 bag)
Traditional Medicinal Organic Ginder Aid Tea (1 bag)
...together in a big cup
In the evening:
Traditional Medicinal Organic Smooth Moove Te (1 bag)
(I feel that has helped me eliminate a lot of parasites)
I do not get stomach spasms that feel affect my heart anymore and they were BAD!! This helped me get the trapped gas out. Hope this helps!
