I have been getting bartholin cysts for years and doctors would tell me some women just get them. I have to share this. Keep in mind, this pertains to my body, not necessarily to yours. Years ago, I got 2 cysts in one year, and my boyfriend said "stop eating all that frozen yogurt!!" I didn't think much of it, but there was a TCBY near my job and I'd often get a cup of frozen yogurt at lunchtime. FROZEN YOGURT HAS LIVE BACTERIA IN IT. I have never liked the non-frozen yogurts (Dannon, etc.), just frozen yogurt and Frosty's from Wendy's. I asked two different doctors if there could be a link between eating frozen yogurt and bartholin cysts. They brushed me off. After switching jobs with no TCBY or Wendy's around, the cysts stopped forming. Then guess what? Last week, I had a Frosty one day (Chocolate) and a cup of frozen yogurt (chocolate) the end of the same week. After all, doctors say they doubt they cause cysts. Within one hour of eating a cup of frozen yogurt from TCBY, I felt a bartholin cyst forming. Within ONE HOUR. For me, after 15 years of getting these cysts on average every 3-4 years, I know for sure this is some sort of food allergy or reaction that I have. No one can convince me that this is a coincidence. I have the tendency to get these cysts, and I believe the reaction/allergy to frozen yogurt is what causes my cysts. For example, people with peanut allergies are fine as long as they don't eat peanuts. I am on antibiotics now and have ordered Black Ointment. I can't stand the thought of another lancing procedure. I'm soaking in warm baths and hoping it bursts. Meantime, I'm 100% convinced the live bacteria in frozen yogurt and also Frosty's from Wendy's causes my cysts to form. I will give up frozen yogurt and Frosty's forever, and not let a doctor tell me these are just coincidences. I believe the live bacteria in frozen yogurt disturbs my body's Ph balance...and I get a cyst after eating frozen yogurt or drinking a Frosty. However, it is interesting that ice cream does not cause these cysts for me. In all the time I was not eating frozen yogurt, I've always eaten ice cream with no bartholin cysts forming. Frozen yogurt for the first time in a long time was my only dietary change. I had not been having sex, do not have any STDs, anything else. Doctors do not always have answers. They call their colleagues, research and ask questions because they don't know everything. But every woman knows her body. Everything does not always make sense, but for me, I believe frozen yogurt causes my bartholin cysts. Are there other women out there who love frozen yogurt or Frosty's from Wendy's who keep getting bartholin cysts? I'm interested in knowing if anyone else has made this correlation. I hope this helps you.
Your situation is strange. I can only comment on another type of cyst problem though. I know a woman that was prone to cysts, generally all over, non-bartholin. Her doctor told her to stop drinking caffeine and her perpetual cyst problem would stop. Turns out, the cysts have not come back.
Is your bartholin's gland blocked prior to the cysts forming? Do you notice any changes around the area after consuming the stated foods that cause the cysts within any time span post-consumption to the cysts?
What about taking warm baths with the area exposed to the warmth to help release and clean out the area?
I've had a splinter underneath my fingernail for a week (yes, it hurt horribly bad) and a bath softened the tissue and lubricated the posterior nail that housed the splinter. It came out without any pain (unlike other tries) with little effort.
I've read in several places high sugar intake can cause bartholin cysts, im led to believe no one is quite sure of the cause but they do say high sugar/saturated fats can cause it. I'm stuck with one right now and I hate that little thing. I'm using witch hazel and warm compresses along with prayer,...but thinking of using something herbal to help?
I don't think it is the bacteria in frozen yogurt causing the cysts. I doubt that there are any the froyos anyway. I'll bet that it's either something else in the frozen yogurt or some residue left on the machine from cleaning it.
I've been battling with bartholin cyst for 4 years and I hate it. When I first found out I was 28 my doctor said I would get rid of it by draining it so I took his advice and got the word cather every thing was fine till later that night I was in excruciating
T
pain I took mor pain killer and waited it out till the morning I couldn't take it no more so I went to the er they said it was infected so they took the cather out gave me some antibiotics and packed it instead of using a word that was much relief and it actually went ak ay for about a year. Till it came bac forcing me to do the procedure over agin only to have it fail
Again so I started to think it was coming from something I been eating I eat a lots of Cheddar cheese and I know for sure when I eat chocolate my face breaks and I've been thinking could this be an underlying cause I also thought about yogurt being a cause also although I realy eatthe. Frozen one am glad so.eone is thinkin like me since doctors don't no wut causes these eruptions and haven't did a study to look onto the reason for this unfortunate mishap. But I've been doin research and found there is a non surgical way by using this silica medicine by homopathy u take the pillets under your tongue 10 pellets a time 3x a day 4 2 weeks and suppose there suppose to make it g away but after the 2 weeks u continue to take them for 3 months and that should do the trick. Well I bought some and tell you'll how it worked out. Good luck to everyone ...
Okay, this is really strange and I don't know if it's a coincidence or not but I have just been dealing with a cyst since Saturday evening (the 31st). Guess what I had grabbed for a snack that afternoon as I was running errands .... a Frosty and some fries from Wendy's!
I really had to backtrack after reading your post as I knew I had a frosty in the past week but I hadn't really paid attention to that as I didn't think it had anything to do with the cyst. But it was on New Years Eve because I remember thinking twice before going through the drive-thru because I knew my hubby was already picking up subs for dinner! Within just a couple hours I became aware of the cyst.
So I don't know if it's a coincidence or not but I am seriously thinking of getting a Frosty again in a couple weeks to test the theory and see if it happens again to me. I don't have Frosty's very often but I have had 5 or 6 of the cysts in years past but no way of knowing if they are related to times I have eaten a Frosty.
I was able to cure my cyst so I'll make a new post about that and now that I have a good way to get rid of them I may test out the Frosty theory sometime next month. I just need a little time before going through this again if it is a direct cause.
I experienced my first Bartholin's Cyst roughly 5 weeks ago. I didn't know what it was, and after researching the internet I came across the Bartholin's Cyst. It grew to the size of what felt like a large grape and was very painful. I was unable to walk properly and was over dosing on ibuprofen as I couldn't handle the pain. As soon as I had the energy to leave the house I booked a doctors appointment. By this stage the pain wasn't so bad and the cyst had shrunk in size. My doctor confirmed that it was indeed a Bartholin's Cyst and that it appeared to have treated itself as I was discharging pus and blood and the pain was subsiding.
She prescribed me with antibiotics and advised if the cyst grows back I should go into Emergency Department. I was hopeful that it was only healing from then on and that the cyst would be gone over the next week or two. In the meantime I was aiding the discharge and pain with warm sitz baths using epsom salt, tea tree oil and lavender oil as suggested by other users on online forums.
About one week later my Bartholin Cyst was giving me pain again. I found your post interesting, as I treated myself to some frozen yogurt the night before my pains started to return. As I couldn't find any other sufferers who had shared your problem while searching the internet, I wasn't sure what to believe. I decided to avoid frozen yogurt for the next week and see how I go. In the meantime I was also taking silica complex 3 times a day and continuing with warm sitz baths. A week later I gad healed up and my cyst was no longer bleeding and discharging pus. It decreased in size and I could no longer feel it. I was relieved I had my life back. Well at least for the next 10 days.
Yesterday I woke up at 4am in the morning to the pain of a cyst which has grown back again, or never completely went away. There was blood and slight discharge as the cyst was still small. Two days ago I started drinking Yakult which contains the same probiotics or live cultures that yogurt does. It seems ridiculous to think there is a link with this and BC as the bacteria in yogurt and yakult is supposed to be good for you.
Today I'm back on ibuprofen for the pain, taking sitz baths and Silica Complex and praying that it goes away for good. I'm currently feeling better, but if this pain continues I'll be seeing a specialist or gyno. In the meantime I am going to focus on a healthy diet that does not consist of frozen yogurt or yakult and will see how I go. Even if that does sound ridiculous, I am pretty desperate and i'm not prepared to risk any more pain.
This whole experience is causing some serious depression :(
I hope everyone who has suffered this can eventually find relief from this horrible horrible thing!
