Hi all- First I want to say this board has been a lifeline of knowledge and resources and I thank you all! I started to supplement with iodoral about a month ago! I started slow with 1 12.5 MG pill a day for a week! Then 2 pills 1 in the AM and 1 in the PM. Now for the last 2 weeks I am taking 4 pills split into AM an PM. Could this possibly be too much. I am a male . 58 years old and have no major health problems. I take a drug called Exforge 160/10 for hypertension and .25 mg of xanax twice a day(I am starting to cut this down slowly) I work out at the gym on the elyptical 35 minutes 3 times a week plus free weights. Supplements I take pretty regularly are as follows:
Vitamin D3 2000=4000 Mg a day
Vitamin C 1500-2000 Mg a day
Lifesource Multiple
Co-q10 100 MG a day
Calm Magnesium
ACV
Flaxseed Ground= 2 TBL a day
Raw Adrenal
I had a very stressful job and am now retired. Doc said my adrenals were pretty well shot. Had a terrible bout with chronic fatigue in 1990. All of my bloodwork is within normal ranges except cholestrol- Total is 174
but ratios are inverse and triglycerides are slightly high.
I feel ok most days but not all the time. This morning I was light headed. Could the Iodine be causing this. All of my thyroid tests were within normal range with the TSH being 2.6. My diet isn't the best but it is far from the worse. Fruit, vegetables, whole grain-almost no fast food or boxed food- no nitrates or hydrogenated oil! no tap water! Drinking kangen water! No coffee(Some tea)
Need some input here!
Thanks in advance
I would say that the light headedness is probably from low Magnesium. I think 50 mg is perfect right now. Keep on 50 mg for the next month. After one month I would increase to 100 mg per day or buy SSKI Iodine from Trapper on this website and add SSKI to your daily Iodine intake.
I did the above but after about one month I finally decided to just break through this barrier and increased my dosages to very high levels, but I felt terrible, had rashes, brain fog, tired, body odor, bad breath, sore kidneys, and the list goes on, but after I was through the wall, it was all down hill from there, meaning I felt better and better.
What is your height and weight?
Keep checking your body temp and you know you are almost there when you are at 98.6
Be sure to be taking the following:
Vitamin C slowly increase to 5000 mg per day, spread out dosages if possible.
Magnesium slowly increase to 1500 - 2000 mg/day.
Add one teaspoon of ancient, untouched Sea Salt to water and drink each day.
Selenium, take 600 mcg / day.
B2, 300 mg. spread out each day.
B3, 500 mg. spread out each day.
Lots and lots of water.
I recommended trapper because when I looked for Iodine, I searched every pharmacy and health food store to no avail. The internet sites seemed to be offering me a watered down Lugols. Trappers Iodine is strong.
Andy- thanks for the response! In answer to your question I am 6 ft and weigh approx 215 lbs. My temp registers about 97.5 first thing in the morning but I am not sure about the thermometer(Don't laugh but is a Sponge Bob kids LCD thermo) and my wife says you always add a degree! I probably have to buy a good one! What will the Sea Salt do and does it have to be that kind specifically? I do drink a lot of water! I will take your advice on the other supplements. I have about 70 or 80 iodoral pills left and probably will finish them before purchasing what you recommended!
My question remains how do I know if I am taking too much iodine! My digestion has never been great but it seemed to get a little worse lately. And how do you know if the side effects are being caused by too much Iodine or just a detox effect!
Thanks in advance for your help!
You are doing great! I applaud what you have done.
There will never be side effects from taking the Iodine. Iodine is not toxic and you cannot get too much. You will however, experience severe side effects due to the toxins being release from every cell in the body. Those toxins are released with every molecule of Iodine that enters the body. The goal is to rid your yourself of all of these toxins. There are different methods of doing this. You can take 300 mg of Iodine each day and feel like you would rather die and push through to that day when you feel better. Watch for sever rashes, migrains, cramps, cloudy urine, brain fog, aches, pains, blurred vision, body odor, bad breath etc.
You can chip away at the toxins. Swing your intake from 50 to 300. Take 50 mg for a week or four and then go to 300 for a few days, then back up, then down again. Dr. Brownstein talks about this in a Webinar. He was talking to a room full of Doctors in Canada. I think most people think you can detox in 3 or 4 weeks and be done with it. Actually, it takes more like three years. Brownstein talks in one of his youtube videos about he is still excreting bromide at high levels even after 24 months on Iodine.
Try this experiment. Upon the first thing in the morning, take 300 mg and drink a big glass of water, on an empty stomach. You will find you absolutely feel like crap. That demostrates that you have a ton of toxins still in your cells.
A good read is Brownsteins book on Salting your way to health. Any kind of ancient untouched Sea Salt is good. Not the junk that they wash then bake and it turns white. One teaspoon per day lowers blood pressure, and fights water retention. It also grabs the toxins floating in the blood stream and shows those toxins the correct way out of the body.
Bromide, bromine, chloride, chlorine, flouroide, fluorine, mercury, cadium, are just a few that are everywhere and are trying to enter your body. Once you are Iodinated, you have this shield, a layer of protection. Once you are there, you will feel so much better. If you eat a slice of Texas toast at a restaurant, you will feel bad and a rash is present almost immediately because the toxins have no place to land. They have no cell receptor site to lock into. If you go on a vacation and swim in the hotel pool with the grand kids, know that the body is fighting off the chlorine which is trying to puncture through your skin.
While I am at it, go with perfume and chemical free shampoo, soaps, skin moisturizers, etc. etc.
It all makes sense. The drug and chemicals hate these forums.
The best explanation I've read on how salt works on detoxing! Now I know why i feel so good when i take it and i take quite a bit of it....love it! And oh yeah, my adrenals absolutely adore it.
Thank you Andy! I will certainly try and implement what you have suggested! On the day or days I take 300 MG of iodine- will I be able to work(I work 2 days a week only because I am so bored). Will I feel that bad that I should wait until a day I do not have to work! And here is another question although not really the topic of this forum. Doc tested DHEA and testosterone. Tests say DHEA was high and testosterone was around 275. I supplemented testosterone gel for about 3 months and did not feel any difference so I stopped it. Blood tests showed it did go up to about 360. Should I have continued it! It was very exspensive!
Thanks to everyone out there who contributes to this board!
You are helping people more than you know!
Just as important as Testosterone is your Estrogen level. Called Estriol on your blood test. Have it checked. Estrogen makes fat in men as well as secondary female sex characteristics. Fat enhances estrogen. The two work together like Bonnie and Clyde. Ask your doc about taking Arimidex. It will lower your estrogen, at the same time ask him to allow you to conduct weekly injections of test. The patches and lotions etc really do not work.
There is a website called T Nation or similar. There are alot of educated people there on HRT, Hormone Replacement Therapy.
Can you work? Yes for the most part, unless you need to think quickly and clearly, like a fireman at a burning building. Brain fogginess is the problem.
The blood test that I see most often is for estradiol (E2), not estriol (E3). At least in women, estradiol is the most active estrogen that is implicated in severe problems when too high. Estriol is a protective estrogen, very weak in effect. The third estrogen is estrone (E1), which isn't talked about so much.
Hey Andy- today I reduced my Iodine to 25 MG. I didn't want to but I just have felt terrible for the last 2 weeks. I am trying to figure out if it is indeed the iodine that is doing it and not something else. I think so because about an hour after I take it I begin to feel lousy! I am talking salt like you recommended but it feels strange drinking salt water when i take a pill for blood pressure. I do not have a doctors appt until 3/15 so I cannot do much until then with my hormones. There is only a handful of alternative doctors where I live- that are MD's and can prescribe. ND's have no rights to do anything in NY. Any other ideas. I have done about 5 liver cleanses but that was several years ago. I did 8 colonics but that was also several years ago.
I bought a new thermometer! Daytime temp running about 97.5
I still work out 3 says a week but really don't have lots of energy! My skin is very dry. I have not got to the vitaminshoppe to up my magnesium! I know I am probably rambling- probably the brainfog
You did the right thing. Stop Iodine completely if you like. Allow everything to normalize. This procees usually takes two to three years of chipping away at all of those built up high toxic levels. The toxins are hidden everywhere.
Ancient, untouched Sea Salt is an entirely different animal then sodium chloride found in the grocery store. If chugging it down in water gets old, be sure to sprinkle it on everything so you get one teaspoon each day or more. Lots of water.
Magnesium lowers blood pressure significantly.
Not to beat a dead horse, but I recall those days very well. Here is what changed me from feeling like a washed up one dollar bill, to a suitcase full of shiney gold.
Iodine
1500 mg Magnesium
600 mcg Selenium
5000 mg C
10,000 iu of D3
Vitamin K
Boron
Chemical free water all day long, (Reverse Osmosis)
Sea Salt
Then, I added later, Red Yeast Rice, fish oil and Niacin
to reduce Cholesterol
Cayanne Pepper
Cinnamon
Vitamin B
Your body temp actually is looking good, keep it up. Any other medications that you are on? Remember, Iodine makes your Thyroid blood tests go crazy, no big deal.
Ask your doc to test your D blood level. It will be scored 0 to 100 ng/ml. Many people disagree with me on this, I can only say, when I got to 80 from 22, I cannot describe how great I felt. I mean, your like, "Really? I can just keep feeling better and better?"
I respectfully disagree about side-effects, anything benign like water (H2O) can have side-effects. Too much water too fast, you die.
Also, Sea Salt is mainly comprised of "Chloride" (Cl(-)) - a necessity for our bodies. It is an electrolyte, balances body fluids, and involved in digestion (hydro-CHLORIC-acid). Sea salt is also comprised of Sodium, Sulfate, Magnesium, Calcium, Potassium, and others, respectively in decreasing order. Chloride also helps the liver clear waste and maintain the body's acid-base system.
Chlorine (Cl2), on the other hand, is a bleaching agent, disinfectant, and added to water. In water, it readily forms hypochlorous acids and hypochlorite ions that kill bacteria, but it also forms chloramines that are toxic to life. The hypochloric state is the least oxidative, while perchlorates are the most. Contrarily, perchlorates are the least oxidative in water.
Perchlorates (ClO4(-)), however, interfere with Iodine uptake into the Thyroid. The general recommendation is no more than 15 ppb in drinking water.
I believe that we need to pay special attention to language and all the different chemical names. Chlorine and Chloride do not function the same.
