I know this has been asked before, but I going to be lazy and act the newbie and ask for you guys and gals help on telling me what the best juicer I can buy is without breaking my limited piggy bank. It would be nice to find out what is best for under $200 (not sure there is a good one under $100) and perhaps what is best for under $300 and $400. Those last two are stretches for my budget, but if that's what it takes I will go for it.
And if there are links to where this has been covered before, that is great too.
Champion juicers are the best in my opinion. They run around $300 new. You can buy a used one on ebay for about $100.00
They last for years. Even the ones made in the 70s are still running strong. They are very easy to clean. They are quite heavy though.
Here's a thread where we talk about juicers curezone.com/forums/am.asp. You can do a search on the forum, there are a lot of juicer threads there. This one has videos.
Uny has the Omega 8005 or 8006 can't keep them straight lol. I bought the Omega Vert, it cost a little more but wow is it a great juicer and from hearing Uny talk about how long it takes her to cut up the fruit and veggies and juice them, the Vert is way way way faster, it juices faster but the main thing is that there is very little cutting up of what you put in it with the way it's designed. One thing to consider is what you want to do with the juicer. The Vert only juices other juicers have attachments that enables you to make different things.
Also, we have several forum members that really like the Champion and it's lots cheaper.
I use the Omega 8000 and love it. Easy assembly/cleanup - high quality juice (masticating juicer) and built like a tank. And all that for around $200. If you think the VERT is a bit pricey, try to Omega 8000 series (free shipping from Amazon).
Champions are great but can be time consuming. As fast as the Omegas are to cleanup/assemble I can juice several times a day without it being a chore.
Nowadays, there are lots of juicers, thanks for sharing that link. As well as juicing recipes are popping up all over the Internet these days. But I really admire fresh juicers since it is healthy and is really creates a big difference in our lifestyle.
Thanks to everyone for all the good input. Lots of good juicers and lots of good and helpful advice. Since we are looking primarily to juice for health benefits, I think that the Omega vertical juicer may be the way to go. It is a bit pricier than I would like, but I found it for $70 off at Amazon ($330 total including no taxes and free shipping).
There is a HD model that costs $50 more, but with a 10 year warranty and lots of good input on the maker that model should work just fine. Great reviews both here and at Amazon, looks like it take a bit less slicing and dicing, the veggies and fruits feed in better and it gets just about every healthy drop out of even leafy green veggies and wheatgrass and such - all without destroying the vital enzymes. Well over an hour round trip to the nearest Whole Foods outlet and, when they open back up, farmers markets, but worth it.
Now it is time for Luella and I to really start walking the walk and take better care of ourselves instead of just talking the talk and trying to help others while neglecting our own health. I would say that we eat more healthily than probably 90% of the folks already, but there is still lots of room for improvement. Taking time to get the physical activity and helpful exercises is another matter altogether. We aren't in the couch potato category, but we have been far below where we should be.
If we don't take care of ourselves from a diet and fitness standpoint, as well as emotionally and yes, financial standpoint too, our time helping others will be reduced anyway and maybe sooner than later. So now the journey begins in earnest.
Oops - already placed the order. I guess I can get the upgrade if need be.
EDIT - I sent a message to the seller asking if I could upgrade and pay the difference or else get the upgraded screen, so I will wait and see. I am sure that either way I will be in good shape.
Interesting video - I figured the VERT would take the prize given all the accolades, but I've always had great results with wheatgrass, spinach, Kale, etc with my 8003.
I've also heard of reliability problems with the VERT which doesn't happen with the 8003. It does a good job with carrots too, it's just slower than the VERT.
For the difference in price between the VERT (especially HD) and the 8003 I'm not sure I'd get the VERT if I had it to do over. Especially knowing it doesn't do that well with the leafy vegetables. Most of my juices have carrot, some kind of leafy vegetable (Kale, Collards, Chard or Spinach) and maybe cucumber or beat. Plus with the 8003 foam isn't an issue at all.
I don't know how the cleanup compares but the 8003 is really fast and easy.
When I was shopping for juicers I was amazed to see on Amazon that the Omega 8003 juicer had hundreds of reviews averaging a full 5 stars. You don't see THAT very often. Oh wait - DQ already ordered his juicer. Like I was saying the 8003 sucks. lol
LOL! Yeah, but DQ ended up getting the Omega VRT350 HD, not the VRT330 in that comparison video. I am pretty sure that for the combos and items I will be juicing it will work just fine.
Should I get dressed and make a video when it arrives?
