Hello all, I'm just starting to read into a lot of this Iodine supplementation but am finding difficulty with compiling a list of supplements and dosages of those supplements that are needed to accompany iodine supplementation.
All of my problems started with what my urologist believed was epididymitis. He prescribed me with a 15-day regimen of Cipro and Naproxen...I made it in about 6 days before I had a nasty reaction, which included completely numb left leg, weakness of achilles tendon, painful joints, random shooting pains, difficulties with focusing my vision, dizziness, nausea, heart racing...all reactions that I assume were caused by the Cipro. And as more and more blood tests and visits to the doctor are resulting very little in a diagnosis and with doctors telling my that my levels are all good, I'm assuming that fluoride toxicity is causing most of these lingering problems. I was previously very healthy, very health conscious as far as foods and drinks, exercised 5 out of the 7 days of the week and supplemented with a number of vitamins, minerals, etc.
I'm now looking into iodine as a potential solution to my problem. I have purchased 2% Lugol's solution, Calcium Orotate (85 mg) and Magnesium Citrate (225 mg). I did try one drop of the Lugol's, two nights in a row, right before bed. After the waking up the morning after the second dose, I had the metallic taste in my mouth, swollen lymph nodes, heavy feet...all detox symptoms? I stopped it because I felt that I did not know enough yet to move forward.
So, basically I need your help in identifying what supplements you suggest I take AND suggested doses (I'm a 21 year old male) so that the displaced toxic metals get flushed out of my body. I know I need the ones above (calcium and magnesium), I also need Tri-Boron. I do not know doses though. I have also read that Cipro can deplete your body's store of glutathione, has anyone heard about this and needed supplementation to recover from fluoride toxcitiy, used in conjunction with iodine? Any help is appreciated, thank you.
If I were you I would do some fluoride detox without Iodine first. Iodine is the "big guns" of detox and we have seen on this forum that the people that have the most trouble with iodine detox are those that have a history involving fluorinated pharmaceuticals. I've seen it happen that they will blame iodine for their detox symptoms(rather than what the iodine is displacing) at that point and give up, Here are some ideas on fluoride detox:

Even though a lot of people have read the fluoride detox information, I do not know of a single poster that has actually formulated a detox plan and kept us posted on it, so whatever you do, please keep us posted!

Thank you so much for the information. I do believe that all of my current health problems, considering that I have ZERO prior health problems, are due solely to the fluorinated Ciprofloxacin antibiotic.
Thus far, I have had some success as far as joint problems with 1/4 teaspoon of Borax in 1 liter of distilled water drank throughout the day, and with apple cider vinegar...both relieved most of my joint pain.
However, I'm still trying to compile a supplement regimen that will optimize the removal of fluoride from my system since it is still affecting my vision, heart rate, abdomen and is causing episodes of insomnia.
I'll be purchasing the following:
1. Calcium Carbonate powder from NOW Foods
2. Vitamins A, C, E and Selnium formula from Swanson Vitamins
3. Vitamin C w/ Rose Hips from Swanson Vitamins
4. Turmeric from Swanson Vitamins
5. Triple Boron Complex from Swanson Vitamins
6. Extra Strength Lecithin, Kelp, B-6 and Cider Vinegar formula from Swanson Vitamins
7. Frankincense Oil Blend from NOW Foods
I will give this regimen a try for a few weeks...if it's anything like the Iodine drops I tried, I hope to feel some action within a couple of days.
Do I have enough here for the fluoride to bind to? I heard that high intakes of Vitamin C are suggested when detoxing. If this regimen doesn't work, I'll most likely add some cilantro and chlorella to the mix...
I assume you're getting the Triple Boron Complex to replace the borax. Is there a reason for the calcium carbonate? If you get at least some calcium in your diet, your main need would be for magnesium citrate or malate, which I don't see listed, 400-1200 mg. If you must use calcium, try the citrate form. Make sure the selenium is selenomethionine, 200 mcg. I suggest taking a Vit E that has all 4 tocopherols and 4 tocotrienols. You probably have your reasons for #6 and #7. But I don't see any B-complex, zinc & copper. Skip the rose hips and get ascorbic acid. Don't take more than 10,000 iu vit A. Get more by taking various carotenes. Take care of your colon. Find a good probiotic. I like Kyo-Dophilus, but there are others. Strongly consider a vit K supplement to help guide what happens with calcium in your body. Life Extension Super K with K1 & K2 in the forms of MK4 and MK7 is good (available at iHerb), as is a capsule called Invite with the same three. Work up to 3, if possible.
I do have magnesium citrate. The reason for the Vitamin C products were because I have read that large amounts of it are suggested when detoxing fluoride. Also, the Tri-Boron is to replace Borax...something about drinking the stuff throughout the day just isn't appealing. I can say however that it is working...yesterday I had a pinch of it left and poured it into a water bottle and drank it over the course of two hours. By the time I got home and got to the gym, I had an AWFUL headache...I'm talking feeling the pounding in my head because my heart rate was up (I was doing alternating intervals of 12 mph and 4 mph...great for heart health btw), and it persisted until the end of my workout. I wanted to stop but knew that the sweating and heart rate will all help in this process, so I never thought of stopping...in fact it pushed me to go harder. But anyway, by the time I went to bed, headache was gone. I am guessing that most of this headache was due to a detox effect from drinking the Borax (my whole view of headaches has changed as they now coincide with my intake of detoxing support supplements..I now welcome them haha).
The frankincense is for my eyes...I've read that putting two drops in each palm, holding them over your closed eyes and moving your eyes around for 3 minutes can help with pressure and pigmentation...the pressure in my eyes has been quite high for almost two weeks now (it's being routinely monitored) and hopefully this will help.
The lecithin formula is for the eyes again, and also has some nice additional supplements...the kelp for a modest dosage of Iodine and the cider vinegar for its general cleansing and healing properties.
I do have zinc and a b-complex as part of my daily regimen already. What is the reasoning behind supplementing copper? I'm also looking into adding some R-fraction alpha lipoic acid, one of the body's most powerful antioxidants.
You're very savvy. Copper is for balance with zinc -- Zn:Cu 15:2 is frequently used. It matters how much of a body load of copper you have. Hubby does the 15:2, but I can only handle Zn:Cu 30:2, and my mother can handle no extra copper at all. Manganese, I have read, is also part of the balancing, such as Zn:Mn 5-2:1. You may get enough manganese from food. Good luck on your journey :)
You know, i keep forgetting that back when my gut fell apart after I got my Amalgams out and I thought I had picked up a GI bug because I developed chronic diarrhea, I did a round of Cipro....in desperation.....
I wouldn't have thought that one round could do so much sudden damage as this writer is speaking to....wow....
it turns out my food allergies had gotten a lot worse and I didn't have a bug, but I dosed with Fluoride.....dang!
search Andy Cutler in regards to cilantro and chlorella before you go there. They are both weak chelators of heavy metals. In other words, they are good at stirring up metals in the body and sometimes not so good at getting them out of the body. Meaning they get redistributed and do more damage elsewhere......
I got here late for the party, FWIW department, I had a cavity in a tooth that I was saving for to put a cap on, 900 bux, twice it became infected, used cipro and it worked.
I started taking Iodine @ 200mgs daily and three months later I have not had a problem with it. Iodine seems to work as a antibiotic and anti yeast as well.

I think Dr. Guy A, is helping them with their iodine protocol. Do not take too much calcium, as, see his warnings with iodine.
