I suffer from all the symptoms of hypothyroidism so my GP asked to get a TSH test done. After doing my test the TSH is 1.79 which I understand to be normal.Should I do any other tests to find out whether I am really hypothyroid or not or just rely on this test?I am going through a tough time with all the other symptoms. Please help.
You need to stet your FT3, FT4, RT3 and anti tpo and tg ab. To get a better picture of your thyroid.
You could have a conversion problem, causing your T4 to go to RT3 (which is unusable) or hashimotos and the antibodies attacking the thyroid. Http:\\www.stopthethyroidmadness.com has a lot of helpful information.
I agree with lolite...DEFINITELY go to http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com
It DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOUR TSH reading is if you have symptoms of hypothyroid, things need to be addressed. There's way too much on that site to go into it here....suffice to say it's well worth your time to read what they have. Good luck & good health!
