I really don't know what to make of this, but I traveled to the US to get 7 of my Amalgams removed by a holistic dentist and see a Naturopath who can help me detox.
I spent a lot of money and traveled this far because I was convinced that lot of my symptoms I am experiencing was due to mercury poisoning (chronic yeast infection, leg/muscle cramps pain, numbness, ringing in ears, fatigue, brain fog etc.) from the 7 amalgams that I have had over the course of 20 years.
When I went to my naturopath today who had my results he said that the mercury levels were so insignificant that I shouldn't worry about it, and that I am Vit D deficient, and that could be cause of my fatigue etc.
What I don't understand is, that it showed high level of tin, which when asked, he couldnt tell me where it could be from, and later replied maybe from amalgam. How then can tin from Amalgam be so high and mercury not significant at all?
You should remain extremely skeptical about heavy metal tests. They are infamous for giving false negatives. I would suggest you chelate mercury anyway, in addition to tin.
Yea, I figured as much. I mean I was kinda happy that it showed I wasn't, but I know that with 7 Amalgams for 20 years and with such obvious side effects there has to be mercury in my system.
It's much more harder for me now, since my family thought it was in my head, and now the studies indicate low levels of mercury, they are now convinced that it's in my head. Sighhh.
Anyway, thanks for your feedback. I'm going to look up natural ways of chelating mercury since I do not want to use the strong ones.
Yes I'd like to know what test you had. Hair analysis?
Dr.Mercola said something about labs that washes the hair sample before the test, he says only few labs are good.
Anyway, your symptoms are not in your head. I, too, have them as well as millions of people. But the difference is that we want do something about those symptoms.
It was a hair strand test, which was expedited by my naturopath. He deals with them and said he will get it fast, he also did say that they don't wash the hair when I had asked.
Anyway, he was a HUGE disappointment and a waste of my 210 dollars. I could have easily bought myself a complete set of meds to help chelate mercury and fruits and veggies for juicing for the vitamins and minerals.
I am somewhat wondering if it is mercury poisoning or maybe something else. This is sooo nerve wrecking!
If I were you I won't think much about that hair test, I read that it's not accurate anyway. If you have Amalgam fillings then you have mercury in your body, it's as simple as this.
Did you try Chlorella?
Chlorella probably won't be enough to chelate metals by itself. It's effects don't extend much outside the digestive tract. The trick is to get the mercury out of the places in your body where it's stuck. A lot of the loose mercury will then end up in your digestive tract, and the Chlorella can help it leave your body.
There are a number of recommended methods for chelating, some of them involve Chlorella and some of them don't. I would suggest a bit of research to find one which works for you.
No I have not tried Chlorella, I have been using Algin with success. I was planning on getting AlA, or cilantro for the chelation of mercury. I have seen some Mercury Detox Tablets which vary in their choice of chelators, either cilantro, or ala. Could you guys recommend what I should use? I am only here till Oct 5th, so need to order the meds to take back with me.
Oh and to add I was going to use Spirulina along with Algin instead of Chlorella to bind with mercury.
ALA as Andy Culter recommended, along with Toxguard. I found a sustained release ALA, from jarrow formulas. 100mg of the tablet is immediate release, and the rest (200mg) will be released on 4-6 hours. So you could take 3 tablets daily instead of smaller doses every 3 hours.
There is Humifulvate also, from Enzymatic Therapy, but I'm going to use it after 3 months of using Toxguard.
I will use the ALA for 6 months, which is enough along with a good diet.
You might need to take Milk Thistle to protect your liver, and detox it too. Chlorella will help protect your kidneys, in the chelation process. As I read in a german scientist article.
Good luck
I have a question about this sustained release tablet. Do you have to swallow it without biting/chewing, or is it possible to bite it/break it, and it'll still work? I say this because I can't swallow pills.
Thanks MickLabib =) this really helps. Did you researched toxguard and other meds on your own or were you recommended by a dr. How are you doing? Last time I read your message, it was a month ago when I was still debating on what to do, and read you were having some problems. Hope those have resolved.
What are your thoughts on Vitamin C IV, I read about that and am wondering if I should get it. My naturopath did a free radical test, where I breathe into the machine and showed I was fine, but like my hair analysis, I was skeptical about that too. I just experienced major numbness in both my legs and ringing in my ears just yesterday. How can I be ok when all these symptoms are stronger than before?
Which chelation method you choose would depend on you. Some methods seem to work better for some people while not working so well or causing bad reactions for others.
If you choose to use ALA, keep in mind that you should wait a few months after filling replacement before you start using it. If it's already been a few months, then you don't have to worry about this warning.
I've been using cilantro/chlorella for a few months now, and my improvement has been obvious and much faster than Cutler. But the side effects of chelation have been rough as well. I haven't had any serious problems though.
The Cutler Protocol may be a good place for you to start since it seems gentler with fewer side effects (at least for me). Of course, this should be combined with drinking a lot of water and taking saunas. A good multivitamin (with vitamin C, E, selenium and others) and foods which encourage the production of glutathione would be good too.
Andy Cutler is the one using DMSA and chlorella and then adding ALA right?
I wanted to do it the natural way without the DMSA, so am still looking into what I can do.
I was wondering, you said you are using cilantro/chlorella, now was that right away after your Amalgams were removed? I am asking because, I read mixed reviews of cilantro and am curious. I LOVE cilantro, and so maybe I should try that first before ordering any meds and see how that goes. I plan on using Algin, which is also excellent in removing mercury, and will eventually use the chlorella and spirulina that I ordered.
I have read about the benefits of glutathione and how powerful of an antioxidant it is. I have yet to finish reading the book, but was quite impressed by it. Anyway, looking forward to hearing back from you.
Thank you to all who have responded and for the feedback =)
Glutathione is your body's natural chelator, so it's vitally important in any chelating process. Skip the oral supplement though; according to what I've read, it doesn't survive the trip through your digestive system.
Cutler's Protocol uses DMSA and ALA. It doesn't include chlorella.
I use cilantro and chlorella every 4 hours or so, including waking up at 3:30 AM to take it again. This is similar to the DMSA schedule on the Cutler protocol. I use a few dashes of the spice in water plus about 8-10 small tablets of chlorella. I do it for a week and then take a weeklong break. I continue to take the chlorella for a day after I finish a week of using the cilantro. I have more side effects during a round of chelation with this method, but, during breaks, I've noticed a lot of improvement in the space of a few months. My yeast reactions have become even less than they were just a few months ago.
I've heard people say this method is dangerous and will damage a person's health while I've heard others say it's a highly effective method for removing mercury.
I haven't had any major trouble beyond the side effects during a round. These are similar side effects to what I felt during chelation with Cutler but a bit stronger.
I had to stop Toxguard, I will start again in 2 weeks. Right now I'm dealing with root canals, I don't like to introduce to many variables at the same time.
Yes I researched Toxguard, and it's really side effects free and effective too. I will combine it with ALA Sustained Release, I will take 1 ALA SR every 8 hours.
I don't know if vitamin C IV would chelate anything, but it's great for overall health.
You will need Milk Thistle and Chlorella too, to protect your liver and kidneys while chelating.
My wife had her Amalgams removed almost a year ago (I think it was December). She did a lot of reading and research first, especially Andy Cutler's books.
Here's my understanding (you should read Cutler's book for more detailed and accurate info).
The hair test shows what your body has recently excreted and only shows recent metal exposure. I forget the time window, but it's weeks, not years. People with the worst mercury poisoning symptoms don't show high mercury on a hair test because they are not excreting it (i.e., the body is having trouble getting rid of it). I saw a study on the DAN! site not long ago on autistic kids where they found an inverse correlation between mercury levels on a hair test and mercury-related symptoms. This actually makes sense, although it seems confusing at first until you think about it.
According to Andy Cutler, the mercury shows up indirectly on a hair test because it messes with the processing of other minerals in the body, which can be inferred from the hair test. Cutler's book explains his counting rules for trying to detect mercury this way. So the money you spent on the hair test may not have been wasted. You need just to know how to interpret it.
My wife had a hair test (Doctor's Data, forget the exact test name) shortly after removing the amalgams, which she'd had for 20+ years. No high mercury result on the test, but using Cutler's counting rules she did show some mercury-related issues. She's been working with her doc to do the Cutler protocol over the last few months. She thinks it's helping, but it takes time. Finding the right DMPS dose (and application method) has taken time. She seems to have a large body burden, so she won't get to using the ALA for a while (to get the mercury out of the brain).
The whole point of Cutler's protocol is to do it *gently* so as not to overwhelm the body during clearing. That's why he uses drugs and not food-based agents like chlorella; the latter doesn't allow enough control over the rate of clearing.
Thank you so much for posting. I did read somewhere that this might be the case for many. For me it was hard since I traveled from the Middle East back to US to get the Amalgams removed and all based on my readings and understandings of the symptoms. I did and still do have the classic mercury poisoned symptoms. The test result showed my brother (skeptic) and husband that it might be something else, but I knew better. Anyway, my husband has been n still is very supportive. I am doing it naturally and have been juicing alot. It has helped with my leg numbness and cramps and the rinng in my ears. If i stop the juices they all come back. Since I know this is done slowly I think juices help replenish the depleted vitamins and minerals in my body.
Juicing is a great way to provide the body with nutrients. I have intestinal malabsorption issues and started doing some juicing a while back to supplement my regular (limited) diet. If it's specifically minerals you need, you can also get them in liquid form. I'm currently taking Eniva's Cell Ready Minerals and filling in with other supplements for the stuff it's missing (Fe and Mo).
Regarding the mercury, you can certainly use natural chelators (like chlorella, for example). Just be aware that it will take time to figure out how much of which foods/supplements to take to get the right rate of removal. Too much at once can be just as bad (or worse) than too little.
No, I don't. I got a root canal done last march, but never got a crown (thank God). I did get a diamonlite onlay on my root canal tooth to make it stronger, because I did not want to deal with a hassle of a crown when I went back to Bahrain, since I wasn't sure if i would find anything that would be bio-compatible.
LocaHijabi-
You might consider dental materials testing to see how your immune system reacts to different materials-
this is what I am planning on doing...
