I experience cold hands while taking iodine. Is it possible that Iodine suppresses thyroid gland while taking large amounts like 25 mg / day ?
Or is it just some detoxing which interfered with thyroid functioning. I worry about damaging my thyroid with too much iodine. Of course I take the companion nutrients.
I am drawing my experience, I take 240mgs daily, this summer has been dreadful, I always loved hot weather, the hotter the better, but since taking iodine, it alone seems to have raised my body temp, two degree's. So I am under the impression if anything Iodine will increase body temp, ie hands. This summer has been a hot one, but with iodine, I was most miserable, but I maintained, now for winter, which I never liked, perhaps it will be more accommodating w/ iodine.
FWIW Department, I play golf three times a week with 2 drug salesman, part of their job as I understand it, is to start rumors, be they good rumors or bad rumors, they are often very respected in an MD Office, as the dock normally believes everything they say, he depends heavily on his drug rep.
So I can easily imagine a drug salesman mentioning to a nurse, hey that iodine will harm your thyroid. Thats where they get started. A nurse must be careful as to what she passes along to her friends because of patient confidentiality, but she sure as heck can relay what a drug rep says, get the picture.
Three false stories I have been told by my dock, one is that if I took HGH, it would cause my cancer to grow, just the opposite, it boosted the heck out of my immune system.
Secondly I am borderline diabetic, so my dock tells me, no you cannot take insulin or your body will stop producing it, I have taken injectable insulin for ten years, no bother with my body stopping production I pop 2 iu after each meal, 3 if a big meal w/ lots of carbs.
David if you take testosterone, your body will stop producing it, yes it will, but after a month, it comes back on line full force.
My point, even though a dock tells you an urban legend it does not make it true. end of story, Our bodies have evolved a million years learning how to avoid our stupid mistakes, it will take good care of itself. david lubbock tx.
it can have that effect initially but consistent daily supplementation will take care of that. plus youre not taking enough. plus, you need selenium and boron and maybe B and C vitamins.
I'm glad you posted this because I am still FREEZING when no one else seems to be...thats why I posted my last post, thinking maybe the coffee was preventing it from getting absorbed somehow....I too take all the companions...
@ Flexfifty, I just read in a book "Sugar Nation" by Jeff O'Connell about people actually getting paid by the drug companies to play golf with doctors...I have never trusted doctors anyway.
Hypocritical as it is, I still rely on xanax and klonopin, low dosage as it may be, to keep me asleep at night... I am hoping that Iodine will evetually solve this problem which I truly believe is hormonal, but I do shiftwork and its almost impossible to get on any kind of normal sleep schedule.
I do think the iodine is helping, but i'm still green...and cold, lol.
coldness are reported as a transient phase in Iodine supplementation. Mine are warm BTW, wasnt from I was 15 to iodine/40ish!
Taking Benzos is more than anything what prevent progession in health issues. It keeps you steady where you are, simply as that. It freeze emotions, keeps you locked in, somewhat relaxed but never really well.
Sleep issues; iodine helps, but needs loads of magnesium, some boron and the vit B. Adrenal issues needs to be considered too.
