I stopped doing the coconut butter due to its fructose content. It was making me a little gassy. I do better with the oil. I just dont do well with the fructose--thats just my situation though. Anyone who has problems with fructose should stick with the oil. The coconut butter is much more tasty-- thats for sure. That stuff can be addicting.
I absolultely fell in love with the Manna. 1 TBSP = 1 gram sugar. I put it in my hot cereal (cream of rice or buckwheat) and it just melts. I eat it from the jar. I got used to it's grainy texture, but it's a bit of richness that we just don't get anywhere.
I hope it has some of the same benefits as the oil because I just can't eat the oil. Yuck.
I like that it is a more whole/complete food. The oil has to go through processing in order to clean out the fibers and such. The butter still contains some fiber and protein (and a negligable amt of carbs). it's like the difference between almond oil and almond butter....and I'd rather eat the butter!
How many TBs do u do a day? Have u noticed any differences?
Only 1 or 2 Tbsps for me. I started out putting it in my hot cereal, but now I'm just eating it right out of the jar. it's like a treat, or desert. It's not hardly sweet, just a tiny bit, but enough texture to satisfy me. I don't like almond butter so this stuff is really different.
You could make a "fudge" by adding 2TB chocolate flavored brown rice protein powder (with a smidge of water). I do that with 1 TB of almond butter and it is DELISH!!! That would be a Candida-Diet friendly snack/dessert! :-)
(If u allow yourself rice cakes, it makes a good spread too)
Wow, that sounds great. I have rice protein, but I could just add some unsweetened cocoa powder I guess. I think we would melt the manna. Maybe add some stevia too? Have you ever tried Unsweetened chocolate almond milk? It's so great!
They have UNsweetened choc almond milk? How is that possible? LOL...the only choc almond milk I've seen is loaded with sugar. I'll have to look at Whole Foods next time!
This stuff is amazing. 0 sugar. I sweeten with a little stevia by itself! OR mix it with my rice protein drink mix, and stevia. It's the next best thing to a chocolate shake for us candida folks on a bland boring diet!!!!!! It makes a very satisfying protein snack inbetween meals. It's all over the stores now. I can buy it in Shop rite, or shop and stop! all health food stores. very very common. You don't need to order it over the internet!
I dont like the fact that they add calcium carbonate to it. Calcium carbonate is very constipating/causes indigestion. If you do drink it dont do it with meals. Tums is calcium carbonate--buffers acid!
Whats tapioca dextrose? Guar gum? Some form of sugar?
Hmmmmm, sounds intersting. I think I would like to try that if its safe for us. Have to check the serving size. 3 grams sugar.....
so cultured coconut milk has added calcium as well, which can be constipating. Look for a sugar free coconut milk at the store, kroger brand is sugar free. Then add a little stevia to it. Put it in a blender with ice cubes and actually tastes really refreshing. Although im not the biggest fan of stevia. If stevia doesnt lower your blood sugar than it might work for you every now and then.
Kefir is great, as long as you can tolerate it. IT's easy to make, but getting the grains is the challenge. There are many links on how to make it, just google it. I ordered mine off the internet. Takes a few batches to get it right, but then easy as anything. Good luck!
