For some reason, I often notice a greatly-increased appetite shortly after starting a regular magnesium supplementation schedule. A few weeks ago, I added magnesium back into my supplement routine - and I've found that it has absolutely wrecked my somewhat-disciplined diet. With magnesium, I seem to often get the feeling of lessened "satiety": before, a reasonably-healthy meal would be enough to satisfy me for hours - whereas with magnesium, the same meals result in hungry feelings relatively-quickly after eating those meals. Without magnesium, I generally have not had much overwhelming urge to snack - but after starting magnesium, I often succumb to powerful urges to snack. I have found myself being irresistibly-drawn to foods that I otherwise do a fairly-good job of avoiding. Let's just say that the employees of Taco Bell, Steak-N-Shake, and Burger King have seen way more of me over these past couple of weeks than they should have!
Does anyone know why magnesium affects me this way - and what I can do to eliminate this undesirable effect? Does magnesium affect anyone else this way?
Just when I want to say that it may have something to do with the form of magnesium I'm currently taking (magnesium citrate) - I remember that magnesium glycinate had the same effect. So it seems to be the magnesium itself affecting me this way - not the compound.
Oh, and Vitamin B1 (thiamine) has this same effect with me. I tried taking extra vitamin B1 a few months ago - and had to stop because of constant feelings of hunger, which caused me to sometimes become a ravenous pig.
Any feedback is appreciated. TIA.
