Heys guys, I just came back from the endocrinologist, and my test results were; normal FT4, and normal T3, high TSH, it was 6.2, while the "normal" range was araound 0.5 - 4.0. He says I have subclinical hypothyroidism, which has "no symptoms", and it shouldn't be treated. While I told him I have anxiety, brain fog, motor skill loss, pain in the knees, tmj, nervousness, coldness, etc etc etc... He told me it was probably due to stress and lack of exercice. It really pisses me off when the doctors use the "stress" card, it literally means "I have no idea". I do admit that stress can really whack me off, but I doubt my tmj, anxiety, etc etc are all due to stress. Since I've had these symptoms for 10 years!!!
So I'm taking this in my own hands, I really need to educate myself and know wtf is going on with me. Is it candida? Wilson's syndrome? Stress? (lol) So many options...
Some info:
I have all of the above symptoms + extreme mood swings, I find it hard to find a voice tone sometimes, I have a temperature issue, I shake like crazy when I feel cold.
I gotta admit sometimes I have some itching in my rectum. I also have insomnia, for some reason I feel super awake at night and tired at morning, well my sleeping habits are bad. I also have allergies lol...
Yeah I hear ya! Can't tell you how many times I've heard that from dr's. but actually the last ND I went to said "I can't figure this out...no one can" so there ya have it. So I went to a D.I.B.A.K. (Diplomate of the International Board of Applied Kinesiology) after that, sure glad I did. No more guess work. He was my LAST stop. Rectal itching, sure sounds like candida. what are you eating!? I used to have that problem, sucks. There could be just one thing that your eating that will do it.
I agree with Goodmorningstarshine. Take a look into candida since a number of your symptoms fit commonly described symptoms of that.
My usual extra advice is to take a look into heavy metals while you're at it since there seem to be a good number of people who have yeast problems which are probably related to metals.
The beneficial Lactobacillus acidophilus DDS-1 and Bifidus bacteria plus all other strains of beneficial bacteria which are supposed to be in the intestines, generate acids that turn off Candida growth gene and keeps Candida in its benign form. Building the flora a (communities of beneficial bacteria) will be the cure to your infestation in the end.
It's a lack of the beneficial flora that can create an alkaline environment which can turn on the Candida growth gene thus causing Candida to convert in to its pathogenic fungal form, known as a Candida albicans infestation.
As a start, you need to go on a strict Candida diet, which means basically no-to-extremely-low carbohydrate intake (starches such as potatoes, rice, pasta, no bread, crackers or other wheat products, no sugar products whatsoever, no fruit or fruit juice. Red beef should be eaten only once or twice a week at the most, organic eggs should be your main protein source, and chicken of young fish (sardines, herring) a few times a week.
To make it simple, eat only green fresh or frozen vegetables (all types), avocados, rutabaga, and turnips your focus with organic eggs as the main protein source, and drink lemon water (no sugar) or plain water for you liquids. You’ll need to drink a LOT of water during the entire treatment period.
- rutabaga and turnips: are these relatively sweet/starchy vegetables not best avoided on a candida diet, for the same reason as carrots?
- lemon juice and water: I used to drink this combination frequently, but was concerned about the potential sugar in lemon juice feeding the candida. Would you say the cleansing (and alkalising) benefits of lemon juice outweigh this potential negative?
Hi,
I am brand new to this form. I am trying to get help for my seb derm on my face. I have been on a anti candida diet for 4 weeks now. Only organic chicken, organic eggs and non starchy veggies. I have seen some improvements in my condition but it is not gone and I would like to know how long:
1) before my skin is clear
2) before I can start introducing other foods
3) What foods I can slowly introduce
4) How long to cure this 100%
I have Thyroid Cancer and had a total thyroidectomy so now all of my thyroid hormones come from taking pills. I have become somewhat educated on "normal" thyroid levels. I would not have much confidence in an Endo that classifies a TSH of 6.2 as "subclinical". There is a good website called "stop the thyroid madness that discusses "subclinical" hypothyroidism and symptoms. Also on Medhelp website on the thyroid disorder forum there are moderators that are very good at thyroid lab interpretation if you post the results as well as the normal range for that lab. Having a TSH of 6.2 could cause many symptoms and I would seek another opinion. Good Luck.
I will definitely look into candida, and also will check adrinal fatigue out, since I have the insomnia thing going on. For the past 10 years I've been addicted to coke (coca-cola, not cocaine lol)rarely having any water, basically my diet has been crap. Lots of sugar and junk food, at least I have a pretty good metabolism so I haven't gained any weight.
I'm really scared in going to another endo, since I just can't trust doctors anymore, they really don't have the ability to heal, at least most of them.
Btw, how important is insomnia's role here? Is it really important to go to sleep at an early, moderate hour? Sometimes I stay up till 4am just doing nothing productive, since I go to school at night time, I have the possibility. Is it true that the body "heals" better when you are sleeping around 10pm?
It's definitely better to sleep on a schedule which is closer to a natural rhythm (sleep at night and wake up when the sun is out). I know there are many people who don't because of work and other factors. I'm not sure what problems they may face because of it. Insomnia is another yeast and/or heavy metals symptom, so it's possible that your not sleeping at night is related to that.
I used to be a night owl until I got an early morning job. Then my rhythm switched and now I always wake up between 7 and 8 AM. I had some trouble waking up (feeling tired, needing caffeine, zombie-like feeling) until I began the anti-yeast diet. Now I wake up just fine even though I don't drink caffeine.
change the diet for now, you may be surprised at how many symptoms fall away after that! water, water, water, til it comes out your ears ;) be patient but diligent.
Have you thought of Liver Flushing? Possibly look into Master Cleansing? It sounds like you are loaded with Candida. Liver Flushing will get rid of it but it takes patience and determination.
Wow I have pretty much the same symptoms, tmj, fatigue, insomnia, etc etc etc! I was going between hypo and hyper thryoid for the past year. Was diagnosed with hashimoto's thyroiditis. Now i think i might have adrenal fatigue.. which might be your case as well... and in a way doctors are right it is due to stress, but that doesnt make it any less of a disease. They just have no clue as to how to heal you from adrenal fatigue nor do they really know how to diagnose it! I also have ovarian cysts i'm dealing with now :( ugh this is so lame!
How are you coping with this? any updates? what do you for your diet?
I have stopped intaking Gluten (flour products) this past month and it has helped me greatly with my weakness. And really limited my sugar intake (not that I was intaking a lot of sugar but when you stop eating gluten then bakery items etc. go with that) I do not eat artificial sweetners (never have) which helps I think. From what I have read about artificial sweetners they aren't healthy for you but also make you crave more sweet things which then in turn make you crave more artificial sweetners......it is a merry go round I haven't wanted to get on.
